After reviewing the results of the past few Splatoon 2 Competitive sessions with dizzy bone & other staff members, we are changing the amount of points that can be earned per session in order to bring this event more in-line with the earning potential of our other competitive events.

Going forward, we will be capping the number of points you are able to earn in Splatoon 2 Competitive sessions at 30 points per day.

Because this change is being implemented after today's second session, for today only, anyone who participated in the 5:00 p.m. EDT session will receive 5 participation points, and the player with the most overall wins will receive 10 points, even if they had already capped out in an earlier session. Going forward, the 30 point cap includes points earned for participation & overall most wins.

Now that that's taken care of...

Probably a healthy change! Unfortunate it happened the round I played . On an aside - the 10 points for winning the most rounds is no longer ... relevant.

it would likely generally take 8 wins to get the 10 point bonus which leaves it at a 1 point maximum towards the 30.

Maybe I would propose a daily participation cap + the limit to not include the 10? (So we don’t have someone stomp two diff sessions the same day for those sweet sweet points)

There’s not really a perfect solution for the points problem but I’m glad the changes were made!

Edit: while thinking about it, this change is also bad (mvp award.) Not sure what there is to be done but this is better than nothing. There’s not really a perfect solution

Yeah, specifically what I had in mind was to lock people out of playing 2 games in the same day, but I later realized (the edit.) that there might not be enough people to fill every slot. This is probably better than anything I could come up with I was just noting that most wins has probably been phased out.

Can I conditionally sign up for the Competitive sessions, i.e. "only if not enough for fixed teams"?

It's sort of outside of my control whether we'll be playing the mode I enjoy: I don't want to commit to a full round of fixed teams (for reasons I'll avoid getting into again ), buuut I'd love to get in for an hour of random competitive matchups.
