My favourite part of any tourney is taking photos of my villagers all dressed up in their sportswear and little hats. I love how Dizzy's wearing his explorer shirt! If I remember correctly, that's a shirt that I gifted him. So I guess it counts as sportswear, same with Scoot's explorer hat. Maybe I'll send them all fishing waders for the next fishing tourney.
I wonder why this game refused to let villagers successfully catch a bug. They must feel like such failures.
For the tourney the beaches are basically my hunting grounds because that's where I dumped all my flowers from my last island remodel. Maybe my villagers also gravitate towards the beaches during tourneys for the same reason. I don't use white flowers anywhere on my island but I like keeping some around to catch orchid mantis. These few flowers usually spawn 1-2 of them each time I make a full circle around the map and I like to farm them for the bells. Ken and Tasha seem to have gotten the sneakiness down... but she was a little too close and whacked Ken's chicken feet. Good effort.

So on my quest to complete my 5000 bug/fish point cards I decided to make this little station by my pier that had easy access to a workbench and storage. Usually I'd start off by running up and down the whole east beach strip and catch whatever bugs/fish/clams I could find. Then after I gathered up some clams I would head off to the Kappn' island for a change of scenery. So while today was mostly dedicated to catching bugs, I couldn't resist sneaking off to craft bait after farming clam farts and ended up reeling in a hundred fish or so during the tourney as well. Hamphrey, one of the residents in the fishing village, seemed to approve of the new spot!
Tasha remembers her grocery list mid tourney.
She returns home briefly to check on her machines. Scoot and Hamphrey’s little feets chase a butterfly.
I normally don't like leaving a whole bunch of food items out as permanent decoration unless it's a fruit stall or a cup of coffee. It's a bit silly, but it bothers me to see them get rained on all the time (it's the same reason why I don't like leaving books out unless they can be slightly covered). So events are the perfect time for me to bust out a fun little temporary display for my villagers to enjoy. Homemade with love, some salads, baked goods, and bingsu for my villagers to snack on during breaks! And of course I got a mixer going with healthy carrot juice to keep hydrated (ew).
Ah… look at that agrias butterfly manically flapping its disgusting wings over the Big Lake without a care in the world.
I'm not a big fan of the prize items so I usually stop after I've gotten at least one new bug to add to beach town's dirty district. The Bug-Off might be over but I still have around 2000 more creepy crawlies to catch and 1000 more to go for fish. My rep's arm muscles are so jacked by now that I could probably javelin throw Scoot to a neighbouring island. My point card grinding is going to have to be delayed for a while, as well as any longer journal entries and general play time. Tomorrow I'm finally flying off to Malaysia to see my best friend! And then a week later I'll be visiting my mom in Korea for a month. I still have some saved screenshots I want to post from HHP so I might continue regular updates to this journal, but I'll most likely be chilling. Thanks for reading and happy bug-off~
