For image manipulation, I'm much of a GIMP fan, but many seem to use Photoshop. I fail to see what advantages it has over its free and open-source equivalent. So, let's see what the situation is on here...

There's probably a lot more advantages to using PS, but I use GIMP just because I'm more familiar with it.

I prefered photoshop for editing tbh as what thunder said it has a lot of advantages. I used photoshop cuz I'm familiar with it and user friendly just my opinion tho

After really getting into using photoshop, I don't know anyone could use any other program :/ It's just such a powerful design software, both for editing and drawing. So I'm definitely team PS.

I use Photoshop. I actually don't know how I could make the stuff that I do without Photoshop.

Team photoshop!
They taught us how to use it in a tech class in middle school, just a little bit, it was mainly playing around. I did use GIMP for a little bit before that, for like, idk drawing my neopets and stuff lol and that was before I found out you can pirate stuff aaaaahhhhhaaa
Also i know my 12 year old brother likes to use paint.net, even though i downloaded photoshop cc 2015 on his computer too

I'm a fan of both and recognize the strengths of both, however open-source software is something I'm passionate about so I have a thing for gimp.

photoshops the best, better than the rest!

but yeah, i was taught how to manipulate images on photoshop. havent been able to get on with any other programs. photoshop just feels more simple to me.

photoshop is more similar to other programs i've used so i use it because it's easier i guess. i tried using gimp years ago but i was really confused and didn't understand how to do stuff at all lol but i guess if i had kept at it and looked up stuff i would have learned eventually...
photoshop isnt free but uhh i mean u can use the free trial week ...... a lot. .. forever .., so it's not like you have to buy it to use it .

TEAM MS PAINT...at least the old version when it was actually usable :(

I use fire alpaca because I don't do much with image editing or anything. It does what I need it to do.

When it comes to image manipulating/editing, I'm team Photoshop. I've tried to use GIMP a few times on my older laptop since the same laptop couldn't handle Photoshop well but ultimately I just couldn't use it. Maybe if I tried more tutorials, I could learn it. But since I know Photoshop pretty well, I'm sticking with it for now.

I'm Team Photoshop. It's really useful for drawing or editing in general. I'm becoming a big fan of Paint Tool Sai and how user friendly it is for drawing and stuff. I've used GIMP before but it kept crashing on me so I had to delete it unfortunately.

Can't afford Photoshop and I've only used GIMP twice. Gonna have to stay team SAI/FireAlpaca here, or team other.

Damn, it was looking pretty even for a short while but now overpriced software has won yet again, and by quite some distance.

I'm rather split, as while I do prefer Photoshop in technical terms, I use GIMP when I don't have an active subscription to PS and it still works well, so I don't mind using it.

MS PAINT! That's actually what I use the most. But I use FireAlpaca now on my home computer like for the coloring thing and I like it. Photoshop when I had it on my old desktop was really laggy and froze constantly so I would have to save all the time. =/ I hear PaintToolSAI is great but haven't really used it enough to have an opinion of it.

Over-priced for an individual, but of course for a professional business, an investment in the industry-standard software is expected. Trust me.. $700 is like nothing to a business that makes their entire profit off it, anyway. I doubt there are any graphic design/creative design firms that use GIMP as their standard program-- individuals that free-lance, possibly.

Not bashing GIMP, it's great for hobbyists or non-professionals and can do what you need to get done. It is what it is right now-- a more advanced MS Paint, and a packed-down Photoshop. If it one day has every feature or close to every feature photoshop has, and stays open-source, then I'll be team gimp all the way. but if that day comes, i doubt it will remain open-source

Of course you can still easily crack photoshop CC for your personal use and you don't have to pay one bit-- I never have. It takes just a few steps and one extra little file download. You don't even have to install anything suspicious, you're still installing the photoshop mirror from the adobe site itself
