The ACNH Rant Thread

The sloppy series was amazing. I had the complete set back in New Leaf. I would have loved it in New Horizons. I also miss the ice cream case. Along with the vending machines, this should’ve been a no brainer.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have WiFi at the time of playing New Horizons with the exception of a week or two. I was playing the game exactly how Nintendo released it. I have WiFi now, but I don’t play that game anymore. It wasn’t fun for me playing without online access.

The sheer number of hours of podcasts I've had to listen to while flattening my village is upsetting, abhorrent, abominable, detestable, despicable, execrable, loathsome, and repellent. Thanks, thesaurus. Did anyone make me flatten my village? No. But the fact that we have to do it block-by-block, with our nubby hands, is insane. Did they not expect that we'd be doing such extensive renovations? They had to have expected it. My rep's hands are bleeding and have permanent shovel impressions at this point.

As a positive side note, bless the in-game dirt path. It is everything to me. I've been using it excessively in version three (four?) of my village and it's so fun to look at and run on. Goes nicely with the recent greenery!

I wish getting a 5-star island was easier. I've had issues with Isabelle telling me to plant more flowers, but now it's with decorating the island with more furniture. 😭 I'm only doing this to get the golden watering can DIY, otherwise I wouldn't even bother.
I love AC:NH but I don't really like that the game is mainly focused on designing rather than the more 'traditional' aspects of Animal Crossing, especially since I'm such an amateur designer and never have any good or creative ideas. I dunno, I'd rather just fish and catch bugs instead.
Also, some of the Nook Miles achievements are just too 'grind-y'. I don't wanna continuously mash the A button because we can't craft in bulk. How would you even manage to craft 3000 pieces of furniture during normal gameplay? It takes long enough doing that when you're actively trying to get the stamp.

I really hate how everytime when you start the game the villagers are always gathered at the plaza. I mean seriously you made this huge island and most times the villagers are not even around the areas that you worked so hard to make for them. The most activity you see of them is by the Plaza. They do a lot of things like working out, naruto running, singing together, and sometimes on rare ocassions sitting by a campfire. I mean just what sense does it make when all the villagers are just hanging around the plaza yet they don't really explore much of the island. Sometimes they do and most times they don't.

Because Happy Home Paradise spoiled us with the Outsider Tool.
The outsider tool is how designing/decorating our town should've been to begin with. I hope they fix that in the next game cause jeez.

WHYYYY does terraforming take so longgggg?????

oh and also, why do the flowers spread so easily? like omg i have to surround them with cliffs and water
You can also use a transparent design to put on the ground around them! That's what I've done.

omg that's true i never thought abt that!!!

Terraforming is an absolute nightmare. It’s taking me forever to rebuild tiers, and I am doing one section at a time, hoping it will blend in well.

I usually end up disliking how it looks, then go back to tear it down, to rebuild something again later.

It’s such a burnout. But I am determined to finish my island after so long.
It would be so much easier if the terraforming wasn’t one by one. It would be nice to have a tool to map out where you wanted to build, then it at least help fill in.

Don’t get me started on building my rivers.

Yea terraforming one at a time is such a pain. I don’t know if it will help but when I was making my cliffs I used patterns on the ground to map where I would terraform. When I restarted my second island I had huge areas that were flat so it was easier to use patterns on the ground to map out where I would build the cliff. Still a pain to build it one by one but it went faster for me having the patterns on the ground . I also had an idea of how it would look.

Okay I just need to ask this. Who in the world at Nintendo thought it was a good idea to allow the Fishing Journey and at the same time the Water Eggs from Bunny Day keep on spawning in? It is such bad game design. This is one of the reasons why Bunny Day was hated in the first place all the way back from 2020. You would've think after 3 years Nintendo would learn their lesson but nope because they don't care about the game anymore they just left it as is before.

It's funny that Bunny 'day' is also the only event that is a week long. (2 weeks in 2020) You know what is also a collectathon event but only one day long? The Festivale/Pave.

They milked out the event at the start because the game was barebone, but I thought when year 2 came they would've dropped it to one day.

My main gripe is villager dialog and villager friendship progression. I miss how in NL you'd initially dislike some of the more abrasive villagers but then grow to love them as you got closer! In NH I feel like that aspect of friendship building is sorely missing

All the villagers just seem too friendly even the Snooty and Cranky personality types that used to be a lot meaner have gone too soft. Look I don't want the villagers to be super rude, but the least they could've done is add realistic character to them. Like making them speak like you would in real life with other people.

I saw someone complain about the flower crowns on the animal crossing subreddit earlier and it almost blew my mind because I completely forgot how dumb the way the flower crowns fit. I still love them but I wish they were lower on the head!
You reminded me of something. There's quite a bit of them to. When I first started I was getting DIY for flower crowns so much and my repertoire for DIY was more clothes and less furniture to design. It was kind of annoying lol. I just wanted to start crafting and decorate my island and I just couldn't with the lackluster list I had.

I’m playing the fishing tournament now and for some reason can’t seem to find many eggs. Maybe because I’m actually trying for water eggs instead of fish . I have only got 3 water eggs so far.
