The ACNH Rant Thread

I know it's probably been said, but:
I want my perfect fruit back
😭
I felt like it gave an actual purpose to your starting fruit instead of determining bell cost and drinks your villagers hold.
Think about how the two toned cherries could have looked.. or even the golden pears.
I would mention the apples would look amazing, but idk if they would take away the candied apple look or not.

Okay what in the world is this restriction? I have so much room to put a Rug in here and the game has to tell me this? This is by far the worst restriction I've ever seen.

I've seen that a lot in previous AC games, but not in New Horizons yet. That's unfortunate. It might be all the photos on the wall adding up.

Well to tell you the truth I tried to remove one photo and it still didn't want to work. What I had to do was remove the Frozen Scuplture and then place the rug down but then of course I could not put down the Frozen Scuplture. This is such a dumb restriction in the game.

Crafting is one of the most annoying things. I don't want to spend my time hitting a tree with an axe to get the wrong type of wood. I just want to order the items and be done with it.

This is probably something a lot of people have already said, but... I wish the characters in ACNH had more of a personality. It really feels like the game was mostly meant to be about designing things and playing pretend with it all. Which is fine, there's nothing wrong with designing stuff and making a beautiful island or home. But I miss the funny comments the villagers would say and how it felt like they were less robotic with their personalities.

I'm a day one player since 2020 and I played this game a lot. I am just over the villagers just speaking the same way as each other. It bores me to death and I really just skip through dialogue, gift them gifts so I can get their photo and then they are out of here. That may seem harsh but I have become too numb to their repeative dialogue and I will agree it needs to be improved. Also I don't care how ugly or cute they are as long as I get their photo thats all that matters. It just sucks that these villagers have become collectables and not much "bonding" with them since they keep talking the same topics over and over again.

The game is a designing sim and less a slice of life like previous entries. It's very clear they went this angle with all the features that are mostly about designing. It's a shame for those that want more, but a goldmine for those that like it the way it is. It's a great game, but I feel a bit superficial regarding everything else.

Like multiplayer. I'm still irritated we don't have anything and NL gave us so much mileage with friends.

Nintendo: This is a designing game! You can design to your heart's desire!
Us: So we can order as much furniture as we want??
Nintendo: lol no, get back into your cage.

Seriously, I don't understand this.

I feel like I don't have much incentive to log in, in the middle of the night because we don't have a super mart upgrade that could have cost a lot of bells and materials. Like I know I could use the drop box but it doesn't give as much or pile what I catch somewhere for the morning, but I'd rather just go into the store in the dead of night and sell my catch.

Also, I feel like I rarely see blathers awake because I don't log in at night very often because I feel like I can't sell my catch or I'm losing out on my sales.

At least Flick and CJ still sell in the dead of night if I'm lucky enough for a visit from them. But since they give more money than Timmy and Tommy, you'd think they would be daytime only.

With crafting in a game you would think they'd make something where you can salvage materials from pieces you've made and obtained. Maybe not 100% what you put out, but it'd still make it a nice feature that is available in other games that have features like this.

Haven't played it in ages, but Stardew Valley had something like this if I remember. 1 person indie game - multimillionaire company with hundreds at their disposal.

I picked up Pocket Camp again just to scratch the AC itch I'm having, and it really, really, really upsets me just how much there is in the game that isn't in NH. It sucks that so much is behind a paywall, but I have to admit, it can be tempting to throw a few bucks at it because those special items from fortune cookies give you memories, which add so much SOUL to the villagers. I viewed a random one the other night about Katt having a secret fondness for large plushies. It's wild how the mobile game sets the villagers apart from each other when they MAIN GAME essentially turned them all into lifeless dolls with almost no difference between the personalities.

Sadly, it comes down to the one indie developer having actual passion for video game design vs a corporation that tries to increase profits wherever they can.

I doubt Nintendo's devs are passionless about their job (although I don't doubt Nintendo are trying to profiteer off a game), in this case I think it's more "this is a game about being on an island with limited resources. It is also a game that utilises a real-time mechanism and is designed to be played steadily over the course of multiple days, and also a game that encourages social interaction with others in order to get other resources for people, and also in addition to that a game in a series that used to have an angry mole scream at you if you reset the game if you made a bad decision, of course it's not going to have a feature where you can magically get these assets back"

But realistically, you would be able to break something down and salvage a bit of material. Whether you're taking an old tablecloth and utilizing the patterned material to make a dress or disassembling a computer and utilizing a part or two for something else, it isn't really "magic" to get some assets back from destroying/recycling items.

Okay I need to say something because the way the villagers are walking around your island are so flawed sometimes they even glitch out. For example Pecan when she was by the beach she kept turning her head so many times

Then I had more glitches where some of the villagers were walking in place toward the cliff and the fence. This happens whenver they try to sing or do workouts.

Lastly, this one glitch is where whenever you make a river or a cliff that has a river on top the villagers seem to sit on the floor like 10 or 15 squares away. Its so annoying!

The sloppy series was amazing. I had the complete set back in New Leaf. I would have loved it in New Horizons. I also miss the ice cream case. Along with the vending machines, this should’ve been a no brainer.

I don't know why they didn't include all the previous items and then add the new ones. That would've been excellent if they did.
