The Anime Thread

I just now finished the Pokemon Master Journeys anime! It's ironic that the last two episodes focused on Sinnoh while I was playing Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Now I just have Pokemon Ultimate Journeys to finish before starting the Horizons anime.

I'll probably take a break from that, however, and finish Haikyuu!! S4 because I was planning on doing that before May arrives, and Pokemon Ultimate Journeys is LONG.

Not anime but manga, hope that's okay in this thread!!
Physically I am at work, mentally my mind is stuck in Spy x Family ch. 96 😭😭😭😭

MY HEART MY SOUL LEFT ME BODY AFTER SEEING ANYA DISCLOSE HER DEEPEST SECRET TO DAMIAN OHHH IM DONE OH IT'S SO OVER FOR ME

i love love LOVE slow burn and the way it's at its peak so far with damianya..... ohhh it got me on my knees 😭 anya initially wanted to ask damian out for world peace, but as the chapter proceeded, it became more and more evident she trusted or liked damian more than she was letting on 😭 letting everyone know he loved his father the most (she did not have to read anyone's mind, she genuinely just knows that), having that dumb little shoujo filter on when damian says he thinks her family is nice, and her revealing her deepest secret of being able to read people's minds when he catches her after she twirls...... and the fact (1) damian is so shaken just holding anya's hand (2) they grip each other's hands perfectly after fumbling previously, and (3) they have +100 friendship points after that OHHH im so sick and in love it's so over for me.

it's been a week since the chapter dropped and im STILL not over it 😭 very very excited for the next chapters!! i sincerely hope they build on this event bc if not i will be breaking down in real time

I was behind so I just binged through like 10 episodes to finish off The Apothecary Diaries since S1 just finished... wow...

Not sure if it's related to anime or not but tomorrow it's also the egg hunt on myanimelist and it always makes me discover new ones I never heard about. I also feel like rewatching NANA but I know I will get frustrated not to get any closure with that one.

How snooty is it over there?

None I get a bad time cos it makes me think of when I thought I downloaded Spider Man when I was 11 but it was anime porn and it was the worst thing I saw on a screen and when I told my friends one of them showed me his deviantart and tumblr which was full of it and man I was so sick and could not look at him the same since and its all I think when I see anime

Would My Hero Academia be easy to watch for someone who has almost literally never watched anime? (any answer would be appreciated :c)

I noticed they put it on Netflix. I kinda need a new series to get into.

I got into My Hero Academia when I first started watching anime. I enjoyed it for the first three seasons and really fell off after that. I was getting into other anime once I found out the popular anime weren’t all that existed.

I think Demon Slayer is a great starting anime. It’s easy to follow for a beginner.

Yeah, it's a good starting anime for new watchers. Depends on if you're into superhero stuff though. It's not for everyone.

I like Dr. Stone, but people have said it gets dark after a point I haven't gotten to.

What genre would you want?

Genre isn't so important as much as consistent writing or likable characters. I don't mind character studies or slow burns either.

I guess what I seek most is an engaging plot. I don't mind gore or dark themes either.

I think My Hero Academia is a great starter anime. Shounen anime tend to be a gateway point because they're easy to follow, have a wide variety of characters for people to like, and usually a lot of action. MHA has it's ups and downs as far as writing goes, but any long running anime is usually subject to that and I don't think it's lowest points are really all that bad.

Since you mentioned you don't mind gore or dark themes, another popular anime that I might recommend is Attack on Titan. I'm not normally a binge watcher, but every episode in the first season had me so enthralled that I had to watch the next one to find out what was going to happen next. It also has drops in quality writing occasionally, but overall I think it's a solid story with plenty of characters to love.

I saw the first couple of episodes of Attack on Titan. (a friend said it was worth watching).

I thought it was interesting. Although the funimation video player wasn't working well for me. I couldn't find the episodes elsewhere and moved on.

I think at the time I really wanted a dub. Such a thing wouldn't matter to me anymore.

The Funimation streaming service never worked well for me. All the episodes should be on Crunchyroll now, sub and dub, if you're interested. But if not, that's totally fine too.

Also, @Midoriya I noticed I had a new MHA episode yesterday. Looks like there are going to be 4 recap episodes leading up to Season 7. I'm curious if you plan on watching them or skipping them? I'm still debating.

If they're just recaps I'll probably skip. I did watch a couple of the OVAs and they were alright, but recaps don't interest me too much.
