The METAL thread! \m/

Anyone looking forward to any new releases this year? One album that's come out I'm really enjoying is Skyliner's 'Dark Rivers, White Thunder.' Here are a couple songs from it:
Pretty good USPM, imo.

Personally, not really. New Metal releases just don't interest me much anymore, even if they're from groups I actually love. Despite that, I might still check some out if I am in the mood and if I have enough time. Overall, I'd very much rather go back in time (00s, 90s, 80s) and search for those potential gems that I may have missed.

Not familiar with Skyliner, but they don't sound bad. I liked the second track better than the first one.

^I friggin' LOVE Morbid Angel! One of death metal's best. Have you heard anything by VLTIMAS yet? Basically a love letter to the classic Morbid Angel sound featuring David Vincent himself:

No, don't think I ever have! But I'll listen to that album in its entirety very soon and let you know my honest thoughts on it here once I do!

Speaking of Morbid Angel, yesterday I heard someone on YouTube say that David Vincent made Country music. This user also said that he was related to Billy Ray Cyrus (allegedly his cousin) and Miley Cyrus. The second thing sounded pretty funny, and I was hoping that it wasn't true. Turns out he actually does make "Outlaw Country" but he is not related to those Cyruses!

EDIT: Haven't been signing in regularly as of late, but I did listen to Something Wicked Marches In the day after I posted the above comment, and my first impression was that the instrumentation was competent, but David Vincent's voice didn't sound as good and ferocious as it once did back in the early days of Morbid Angel. Can't completely blame him though, as that is something that happens to many vocalists as they get older. Overall, it sounds like a decent album even if it's not in the same league as the early MA records

@G0DFlesh_88: Killer black/death/thrash!! \m/
@ForgottenT: Man I can't remember the last time I listened to Volbeat! I'm definitely WAYYY overdo for a re-listen. I remember discovering them for the 1st time, it was such a treat! They really do have a unique sound...rockabilly + heavy metal? Don't mind if I do!

Glad to see people out of country have heard them :)
Yeah they've got a unique sound somewhere between rock, and heavy metal.

^B******' cover.

Lucifer's Friend's "Ride The Sky" is some great proto-Metal from 1970. Some parts of it sound vaguely similar to "Immigrant Song", but I think this tune is 100x better than that overrated junk. It also actually sounds something like NWOBHM, but like a decade before. Galloping guitars, blaring French horns and a vocalist that reminds me of Ronny James Dio - What's not to like?

This band needs more exposure:

I think that's the band that you mentioned the other time when we were conversing about Gothic Metal. First track was pretty good (haven't heard the other two). Vocalist also has a nice voice.
