I'll never understand why some people are so vehemently opposed to time travel. Like buny said in the previous post, some people have busy lives and can't play every day and don't want to have villagers move out. Some people simply don't enjoy playing the game in real-time and prefer to utilize time travel. I've played this way since the GameCube game and it's the only way I truly enjoy it; real-time feels too limiting to me and, honestly, I flat out don't want to play every single day like it's some chore. Additionally, when villagers talk about your character time traveling? That dialogue is an acknowledgement from the developers and it's not said in a judgmental way. If the developers cared and saw this as a bad thing, they would have removed it entirely by now instead of including the relatively tame repercussions like turnip prices. Animal Crossing is a relaxing and chill game, the villagers are generally chill too. Be like your town's residents, be chill. You do you, we'll do us. We can all enjoy the game in our own ways and no one's doing it wrong...as long as you're not hacking with the express intent to harm another person's game.
As for the original post, honestly, as a time traveler I'd probably quit the series if they removed the clock. I might not utilize it for real-time play, but as has been said by many other people it's a key feature of the game and the progression of time is kind of a defining factor. Everything from insects and fish to what is available in your stores is determined by the progression of time, it's inextricably linked to the core of the game. We all engage with the clock in our own ways, but without it I think I'd find the games really boring. The proposed solution of having you connect to the Internet to update the clock to your region would also negatively affect players in certain situations where doing that might not be possible or convenient. Just leave things as they are, I can't imagine removing it would really have many benefits.
