The state of the forum at the moment

We do not endorse the rant thread so will not be pinning it.

People are free to create threads on whatever they wish to talk about. A conversation topic that surfaces frequently does so because people want to talk about it. Those people who wish to discuss it should be free to. Those who don't are free to ignore it.
Oh no I completely understand that everyone can talk about what they want, but if there is already an active thread about TTing, NL vs NH music, why everyone likes raymond, villager ranking, etc. Then I dont think people should make new threads about it?
Of course it's common because people have questions/want to talk about it but it should be encouraged for people to check for a similar thread already existing/that is still active before making their own thread about it. Which can be as easy as just... looking back to pages 2 and 3 of the forum. This way we dont have multiples of the same discussion taking up the forum. I dont see the purpose in having so many of these threads or the harm in saying "hey, theres already a thread about this you could talk in please take your discussion there." And calling it a day/deleting the thread.

"Poor quality threads which offer little meaningful content to the forum or encourage others to make low quality posts."

Can't you argue that duplicate threads don't add anything meaningful to the conversation since there's already a topic on it...

Y'all don't endorse the rant thread but you guys endorse multiple individual threads stating similar rants over and over?

If you see a duplicate thread please report it, and include a link to the original thread in your report. Please do not post in the thread to tell the user they have made a duplicate thread because this makes it more difficult for us to clean up. We can neatly merge threads and it is a much easier job if all the posts in the thread are on topic.

While I appreciate the intention for doing that, I’d hope you keep an eye out for the NH threads. There are tons of individual rant threads of same topics and same threads posted repeatedly

I'll agree with most everyone else here & say that I really think TBT is the most positive & laidback Animal Crossing community that I have been a part of. The others I'm part of seem to be either over-crowded or kind of ridiculous. This is the only community where it feels like you can be any kind of player & be treated mostly equally. Nice players in other communities are taken advantage of & the price gouging elsewhere (entry fees?) is out of control. Free island visits to meet Celeste already puts TBT in a league of its own LOL.

On god. I'm tired of the recent TT discourse like, this wasn't here during NL. Why be antsy now? I'm glad there's an Island Journal board now. At least I have something better to do/look at. I didn't exactly come to TBT to be stressed and be branded as a heathen/war criminal just for the timey-wimey hijinks. I just want to trade and barter man...lol.
^ I totally agree with this. I cannot remember anyone being as judgmental about time travel in ACNL (2015ish) as people are being now. Someone else in this thread said that they think it's because there are so many new players coming to the franchise & I think that idea has merit. Just like any game, there are those who play casually & those who play more seriously. Time travel is a completely valid way to play & there's never been a stigma against it quite as strong as it is now. (If Resetti isn't yelling at me, then neither can y'all LOL).

In my honest opinion, TBT was at its worst in 2015, not since ACNH came out. Back then, people took collectibles too seriously, they took the villager tier system too seriously, there was several fighting on the old What’s Bothering You thread, the Egg Hunt was a disaster, and people were talking about this one cyberbullying site the staff wouldn’t allow discussions of. Since then, TBT sure has gotten a lot better, despite all political dramas, Time Traveling discussions, and other dramas during the time TBT was losing activity.
^ omg this also has so much credence lol... There really did seem to be a lot more drama going on in "Brewster's Cafe" and "The Basement" than is going on now. But that could still be just because ACNH was just released a month ago & people are just starting to flock back to the forum. Give it a year & we could see a revival lol

Okay but I actually want to add something meaningful to the discussion so here it is.

2016-217 TBT was hugely toxic and not friendly to new members at all. Prices for in game items were impossibly high for anyone to purchase, and there was constant drama among the community. I came back after years of inactivity and my first thought was that this place had actually matured immensely since then. I much prefer the way tbt is now.

As a new member who has lurked for a couple days and looking to get more and more involved (I've been playing pretty much on my lonesome and want to branch out to players who aren't just my friends), I like the energy and vibe this forum has. I don't know how this forum used to be, and I only know the surface level of what I have experienced, but I have not experienced scams, bad beats, or explicitly negative conversation. Sure, some people are antsy about the game (pretty sure it's just because we're all stuck inside), but, it's tamer here than anywhere else I've been. Save for maybe the ACTrade discord, I kinda like that place too.

The only thing I can really say is that getting involved is a bit intimidating, but, I think that's just because I struggle to carve a niche for myself in a community so large and so recently expanded from a new game. While I have noticed of a bit of negativity on certain subjects... it's a lot better than some communities I've peeked at. Definitely better than a certain other discord where I was threatened for not taking IRL money for my Raymond.
