Themes & Badges

I loved when themes were introduced to the 3DS and I'm still hoping the switch will receive something similar soon. Any thoughts? My favourites are the splatoon squid sisters, delusion tax and tloz open world themes.
Badges were a nice addition to the 3DS home screen too and I still really like them. I don't think they're really applicable to the switch's home screen though, which is sad..

TL;DL nintendo pls make the switch more customisable

Agreed, just some themes would be nice. Dark & Light theme are so boring, at least give us some color options that suit the joycons.

Definitely. I had the Majora's Mask and a few Animal Crossing themes on my 3DS. Having music attached to certain themes was a nice touch too.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any form of customization for the home menu since launch. I'd love to see a few dynamic themes (similar to dynamic wallpapers in New Horizons).

I loved the themes you could select for the DS Backgrounds. I think I used some of my gold or silver coins to get one of the Animal Crossing backgrounds. I loved the customization it offered, as well as the themed music along with it too!

It blows me away they have not even tapped into themes yet. That is super easy and fast money. I loved using the Shadow the Hedgehog theme on the 3DS. I would definitely open my wallet for some themes.

Yeah, it’s just crazy that we can’t have themes on the Switch right now. Wyd, Nintendo?

I think we will get themes but not badges. Nintendo aren't like Sony, Nintendo is slow with things, so all you gotta do is wait. I just hope they don't charge us so much money, l hope they will stay same price as 3ds themes. I did collected all the zelda themes and splatoon theme, so l would like those on switch and others l own. I would mainly use Persona themes(they're hacked custom themes)

i’d love themes! i personally didn’t indulge with those with my 3ds but a lot of them were really cool! i’d love for them to be implemented again and for me to actually give them a shot this time aha

I hacked my 3ds and used a custom theme, but tbh themes could be incredibly lazy on the switch due to the layout.

any sort of wallpaper design works as a background, and you could even give the user a choice of accent color that helps to differentiate everything.

but I don't know if they'll look as good. I'm too lazy to photoshop together an example rn (and I'm sure most people could do it better LOL) but there's a lot to take into account like different tv sizes (when switch is docked) and the fact that bigger details either won't fit very well on the default switch screen or be cut off a lot by the games scrolling through.

It's a pity really, I love badges! Customizing is just so fun. I'm really not surprised that Nintendo is so slow with these kinds of things though, after all, themes and badges came out for the 3ds like... 3 or 4 years after launch. Also I usually just use cool vaporwave themes, easy to find- i'd prefer to have animal crossing themes though. It's a little hard to find any that actually have characters on the top screen while also looking decent: (

The fact that larger details would have trouble on the default switch screen completely slipped my mind! I wonder how nintendo would work around that? The accent colour idea also sounds really fun! To be honest, I'm just saddened that there is literally zero customization capabilities on the switch thus far! I'd be content if we had just basic coloured backgrounds, (other than white or black) anything really! But I'm sure they'll add something in a year or two.. .

I made a lot of themes myself, but none of them are AC, but yeah it's not hard to make your own theme. Does include a lot of hacking which l won't share info about.

Never considered this before reading this thread but yes, surprising it isn't here yet. I forgot what my theme was on the 3DS but I know I liked to mess with it!

Speaking of making themes, we have a button on our controllers that is specifically for making screenshots... I think it could be fun to be able to go into your favourite game and take a screenshot of the best/most cinematic part of that to use that as a background. Shouldn't be too impossible, right? It'd have the right resolution and everything!

I really thought in the beginning that they would add themes just like they did with the 3DS. I had the Animal Crossing theme with a lot of the badges there and it really looks cute.

But on the other hand this works too since I'm not much in my home area. Mostly it's just going into sleeping mode and starting up the game sometime later. Or when switching users/games it's done in 10 seconds so maybe it doesn't even add very much haha.
