Thoughts on the holidays being DLC?

Does the SD card come with the switch?
I've preordered one, but don't have the first clue about it. :)

No, it doesn't come with one. You'll have to purchase one. microSD cards aren't that expensive, though. If you're planning on buying games digitally, I'd recommend a 128GB or higher one. If not, a 64GB one should do for now.

Thanks for the info!
I would only buy physical. :)

I personally think it's a little silly reading some of the reasons people are upset.... I mean... the updates are FREE. You're still getting a completed game for your $60 the holidays are just updated later on. They've always been included you just need an update to activate the event. (Like most mobile games and other games like apex and splatoon where you update the game to play the new events) if these were PAID updates then I'd understand "not getting a full game" but they... are free... included in the $60 you pay...

nl had the free update for welcome amiibo and I dont recall anyone being so upset over that regarding internet connection? You could go to a Starbucks or any library and get the wifi to download any updates. Internet is pretty easy access to the public unless you're an hour away from the closest store. And if you have a switch I mean. Internet cant be that far out of your budget. You can get $10 wifi/mo from comcast that is decent enough to update a game and play online.

And the storage I mean.... these updates wont be full blown games again. Idk how many people have a switch already but I have like 4 main games downloaded and I've been able to update them plenty of times (namely splatoon) without having to get an SD card yet. I'll just undownload games I dont play tbh. So if NH is the only game you have I wouldn't go running to buy an SD card.... they are small updates c:

This. The 'entire game' is just not a packaged deal, but its a complete title none the less.

It -should- be a free update. And it's not like they're even letting time travel happen, so why's this a concern?

Unless you can just time travel by using the clock on the Switch System.

You more than likely can, unless they implement something that requires you to be always online so it can sync with a clock to detect time differences, and go from there. And quite frankly, I doubt they would go that far to stop people from adjusting time to time travel.

I would hope not.
No way I'd be connected for hours on end to play a solo offline game.

They're getting cheaper every year. I just bought a 64GB card the other day for like $10.

When New Leaf released, I bought a 32GB SD card for my 3DS, and paid $16.99. Right now, a 32GB card costs about $7
Right now, 128GB SD card sells for $19.99, I bought one in 2017 for $29.99 (That was Black Friday deal).

Mine was 69.99, haha... granted I paid for it in retail instead of online, where its normally much cheaper. But I figured it was a reasonable purchase.

I bought mine right after you gave me the info! :)
I thought the switch came with one. >..<

New items each year would be nice but how would it work for new player starting 1 year later.

Will they let the new player get the 1st and 2nd year items? A game I'm playing repeats the event with more quests. If you complete it you get Year 1 and 2 prizes.

I like the idea that they're dlc because maybe each year the events might be different. Like how pocket camp has different christmas and halloween furniture sets for each year. I also like that the dlc prevents people from experiencing these events early on when they're not supposed to and spoiling it for everyone else. I just hope later on at the end of the game or the switch's lifetime that they'll have it in the game forever.

I don't think I have an opinion until it comes out. As long as they make the holidays enjoyable (hopefully even more enjoyable then previous games) and I hope some cool clothing/furniture comes with it. If it does, then I am completely fine with DLC. I know its more money, but anything that makes the game better, I am all for it. Hopefully they are reasonable with pricing though, considering it was always in the game before. I must have missed that part though. I didn't realize it was going to be DLC until I seen this post.
