Hey guys, looking for some info/advice on a time travel problem. This afternoon my roommate took my switch, TT'ed my island back to May so they could visit for meteor shower, then synched the console back up to real time and returned it to my room. They did all of this without telling me, which meant that I only realized what had happened when I loaded the game and got the bedhead/yawn animation. I've never TT'ed before (because scary), so I'm kind of freaking out about a whole bunch of things. I'd really appreciate it if someone could help answer my questions & help calm me down about a few things.

1. I lost my NookStop streak, which sucks, but I'll live. However, I've played the game every day since it launched to keep up my active island resident status. Is that streak now gone? My nook miles thing says I have 108/300 active days; if I log in tomorrow, will it go to 109, or am I starting over from 0?

2. Am I in danger of having any of my villagers move out? Everyone was still there when I loaded the game & it seems like our friendship levels are still okay, but I really, really, really don't want to find one of them in boxes when I start up the game tomorrow.

3. Are there any other things I should be concerned about? Like, do I lose credit for celebrating villager birthdays? Are my museum donations safe? Things along those lines.

Thanks in advance for the support. At least I didn't buy turnips this week :/

For the villagers, you don't have to worry. They will not move out unless they asked you about it first - when you see them thinking about something!

Hi! Urg, that absolutely sucks! I don’t know about the first point (whether streaks for Nook achievements are affected) but I’m sure that your museum donations are safe! And like Cirice said, villagers can’t move out without your permission. That being said, they may comment on how you haven’t been around for a while.

1) It'll go back to 100 then works it way up.

2) They have to ask first, otherwise they won't leave.

3) Museum donations are safe. As for birthdays, if one happened by TT'ing forward to present day, then you may have missed it. I'm not sure on the friendship level how much it is affected by it.

Does this count if they've asked me in the past & I've said no?

I time travel all the time and just recently got my 300 days! So, no, that shouldn't affect it at all.

From my experience, villagers ALWAYS ask before moving out. Like I said, I TT all the time (sometimes backwards, though less often) and unless they asked and you told them they could leave, they won't be leaving.

3. Are there any other things I should be concerned about? Like, do I lose credit for celebrating villager birthdays? Are my museum donations safe? Things along those lines.
Again, I TT all the time. Your museum will be fine. I don't think you lose any "credit" or anything for villager B-days, I think you either get a friendship boost if you celebrate with them, or you don't if you don't. I don't think they hold grudges or anything!

The only real "problem" you may face is your villagers may be surprised to see you after so long, and you may have more weeds. Otherwise, you shouldn't have any problems! ...Except maybe a roommate who needs to have a talk about boundaries, but your game should be fine ;)

Not at all! A villager will ask to move out and, if you say no, they will not. They will ONLY move if you say they can. As far as I know, there's no way for them to move without you knowing.

I could be wrong, but that's my experience. And if they're there right now, they're perfectly safe!

Oh, good, that's a massive relief. I don't mind losing a week or so of playtime, but all 100+ days would've hurt.

Yeah. There's been a couple of days where I forgot to get the points, so it went back 100 and the next day it was the next amount higher. It goes that way until Day 7 where you get 300.

Thank you SO MUCH for all the reassurances! I'm super grateful I don't have to worry about anybody moving away. My roommate and I are in for a long talk about respecting people's save files, that's for sure.

You guys have been great

I don't really have anything helpful to contribute but that was very rude of your roommate :( I would never do that and I would hope nobody would ever do that to me!

It's not a great situation + honestly it caught me by surprise because it's not like them at all. I'm chalking it up to quarantine-itis; hopefully it'll be something we can talk out and move on from.

Other than weeds, cockroaches, and perhaps a lower town score due to the weeds, you should be fine! Lucky that you even have a meteor shower, I checked my town on Meteonook, and even if I played every single day since release, I wouldn't see a single shower until mid-September... Very very unlucky town seed lol. My brother has already had 5 👀

It looks like you already got all the answers you need, but I just wanted to add (since I didn't see the other answers clarifying this) that your friendship level with your villagers won't have changed as a result of the TTing/not talking to them. The friendship mechanics have been datamined, and not talking to your villagers doesn't have any impact, so you don't have to worry about that.

Hopefully you can talk things out with your roommate. That was definitely not cool of them.

Yeah that’s not cool that your roommate did that to your game. However your game will be fine so nothing to worry about there

Not to add gas to the fire, but why did they need to use your town/Switch anyway? Why didn't they time travel on their own island and find their own meteor shower?

Sorry, must be really annoying, but at least nothing was lost and your island is okay. :)

This is correct. It's one of the major improvements over New Leaf in fact. Unlike the past games, you don't run the risk of losing villagers for going away for a long period of time.

The nook stop streak will drop back down and build back up, but the Active Island Resident achievement that I think you are referring to is a sum of total days played, not a streak counter. It will just keep counting! :)

1. yes, you'll go to 109.
2. no, villagers always ask before moving out, so unless your friend said yes, there is no risk.
3. no, just clean up the weeds. turnips spoil but thats just some bells you can recoup. villagers won't lose friendship or anything. you never lose progress when TTing

the downsides are mostly weeds, turnip spoilage, and inconsistent screenshot dates (on switch) or nook miles achievement stamp dates.
