Hi again! I thought I'd post an update for anyone who might be following this or going through a similar situation in the future.
You guys gave excellent advice & were 100% right about everything! The active island days did go up to 109, nobody moved away, and all I had to do to get things back to normal was pluck a whole bunch of weeds.
Things are good between me and my roommate, too. I don't want to get into the details out of respect for their privacy, but during our talk they explained their reasoning for what they did, apologized, and promised not to do it again. All's well that ends well.
