I dont know if this has already been posted, due to not being able to get around the forum as much because of loading times. I thought I'd post it just incase.

I found out today islands you visit using nook mile tickets, you can turn them into tarantula island just the same as new leaf with the beetles.

- Chop all trees down and remove stumps
- Destroy all rocks (eat fruit to do this)
- Remove weeds
- Pick all flowers (dont have to dig them up)
- Dump all resources on beach
- Make sure you run around to get rid of all bugs, even the wharf roachs on the rocks on beach
- Do this after 7PM

I found this out on YouTube. Again if someone has already posted this I apologise.

Also I accidently posted this in new leaf section. Sorry about that - _-.... Also I hope this isnt against the rules by posting this, I mean its just the same as new leaf with beetle island isnt it?

This is awesome, thank you! Though, I think I'd rather have the resources than the perpetual fear of the furry arachnids.

Oh wow, that's really good to know! They freak me out a little but it can't be denied they're a great way to make money... Heck, I'd be catching them in real life too if anyone where to pay 8k for them. :lemon:

I did this last night....it worked, but it took a long time to get a good many tarantulas....I left with 11 and 9 emperor butterflies....island had bamboo too, so I brought seeds and logs home also.

It didnt take long for the tarantula's to spawn. By way the insects who make that annoying buzzing sound, the ones that you dig out from underground with the shovel, you dont have to get rid of them, the spiders will still spawn. Just be careful when running because I got bitten three times =')

And when that happens, wait for them to calm down, then get them.

This might sound stupid but I can't figure out how to chop trees down, can someone tell me?

You need to have an axe that is higher quality than a flimsy axe. You can get them by buying a tool DIY kit from Nook’s Cranny, which unlocks their DIY so you can make them yourself.

Oh ok no wonder I couldn't figure this out, thanks!

Not every island will become a tarantula island. I know many people who tried this and said they were lucky to find 1 every 30 minutes. You have to find an island where they'll spawn frequently first before doing this.

The couple islands ive been to it took me about 2 hours to get a full inventory. It's a bit annoying depending on the map though. most important thing is to run around and scare away the other bugs and maybe fishes. I wonder if you can terraform these islands later to make this easier.

thank you for this! it took a bit of work (1h 30min) but this is what i'm leaving the island with. beside the tarantulas, the island spawned mole crickets, tiger beetles and the roaches on the beach rocks, the tarantulas appeared often though. it took me a while to find a good technique to catch them (wait until they calm down before approaching) and i got bit 4 times, but it was worth it ahah

Don't know if this has been asked but does this work with islands with cliffs or just flat islands?

Thanks for this. Going to try this tonight. (May not work as I’m in the Southern Hemisphere.)

It depends on the island I think. I've been wanting to get a tarantula island for money and I got a bamboo island last night, completely flat with no cliffs.

Chopped all bamboo, dug up the leftovers of it, removed the flowers, got rid of the weeds, resources etc and moved all that to the beach. After like an hour of walking around I only managed to find two tarantulas. I was pretty bummed but I don't know if it was just my luck, I'm happy it's working for some other people though

A map with cliffs worked for me. Once you clear everything, the only things that were spawning for me were Tiger beetles (most common), wharf roaches and tarantulas (less common). I made a circuit, chasing away beetles and roaches until I spawned the tarantulas.

That being said, for the time spent its probably less lucrative than catching Peacock and Emperor butterflies (the two most expensive for me atm, at least). It is good if you want to practice catching tarantulas, especially running full speed and then slapping the opposite direction and the net at the same time, which lets you quickly stop and swing. The tarantulas ate my face 50% of the time, but I was getting better near the end!

Sort of a related question, but what happens if you get attacked by a tarantula when you're on an island trip? Normally, it spawns you at your home. Your trip doesn't end if you get attacked, does it?
