Do you hate delivery companies?!

I took a day out of working to wait in for a DPD (the company) delivery at home today and the driver turned up, rummaged in the back of his van for a good 5 minutes, got back in and drove off. The the online tracking said they had knocked on and nobody was in and that they had left a calling card and wouldn't be able to return today and I have to rearrange delivery.

What a load of rubbish I watched you drive off you imbecile, and I have no more days I can take off for this. I presume they forgot to load my delivery but who knows..

I checked online tracking again and a photograph had been left of some house where they had left the calling card. I have no idea where this house is and they now have our parcel and name details. They had taken it upon themselves to rearrange the delivery for tomorrow which is what the customer is supposed to do, not the company.

Now I'm not dragging DPD as they have been the best company I have used going off track record - but today just really annoyed me with how they handled it and the fact someone else could potentially take our package now. I sincerely hope it's a one off.

My worst delivery nightmare was in my previous house on a main public road, I had a delivery from Hermes and they left my package in front of my front door.. on a main road. It was delivered in the morning at 10am and by some miracle nobody had stolen it by the time I got home at 7pm.

So, do you hate delivery companies? What is the worst experience you have had with a delivery company?

YES I HATE THEM SO MUCH

*deep breaths*

or rather the customs that's supposed to drive them further to our mail companies.. they can be really slow. And I try to avoid couriers cause either they come at weird times or they don't bother to arrange things AT ALL. So yeah if I can I try to avoid those things when shipping things unless it's like a figure that need special care or if they only for some dumb reason have courier-only.

But yeah I'm glad I haven't had too bad experiences like yours.. those people can be really and horrid.

Worst, well probably when I ordered some small mochimochi/tsumtsum plushies of Neptunia characters and this random delivery car and I didn't notice until the guy called like last minute so I could get them like smh, label or cars or call in time...

Yeah I just feel like sometimes they don't put in enough effort. It's a customer facing role so I don't see why they are so bad with customers. Or they may hate the job but it doesn't mean you have to be an a--hole to people - whether it's direct or indirect.

I order a lot through amazon and most of the time don't really have the option of choosing who delivers which sucks, and , sometimes certain companies only use specific couriers and it really puts me of buying with them.

Yeah they hardly do, therefore I prefer to pick things up at my office if I can, that way I know it's there if I get the pick-up note and such. And indeed, get another job if you can't do such a simple job properly... smh.

I try to avoid amazon due to that, and the fact most store are pretty fishy in general unless you know they are AAA legit businesses.

Or office.. nowadays the grocery store handles it with a small office in the store but yeah still better than waiting for stuff to arrive at the door.

True, we have amazon lockers in the UK which are pretty useful - not sure if you are UK based or not. They have them dotted around near the city centre/my work places.
There aren't any near where I live but for small items they are good to get on the way home from work. However on this occasion I was waiting for a roller blind to be delivered for my new house and it won't fit :'(

No, I live in Sweden so I doubt they have that here.

And ugh that sucks man... I guess they gave the wrong details on the page then, if you measured things :/

Ohh I meant it won't fit in the delivery lockers haha. That's why I had to wait at home for it :(

So this is why my packages are late...

Back on topic, my mom ordered me a year long subscription of Nickelodeon magazine for my birthday several years ago. I only received three or four issues to my home and then they stopped sending them. She also ordered Highlights for me afterwards, but they didn't even send one. Now I don't know if it's the delivery company that keeps messing up or if it has something to do with ordering magazines in general. Also, I have a sort of love/hate relationship with Amazon. I like that they have two day delivery for Prime members, but it always stresses me out when they give out a delivery estimate date and the package doesn't arrive by then.

HAHA. I'd burn the warehouse down if that was what really went on.

Claim your money back. I would if I hadn't been receiving something I spent money on!

Yeah I ordered mine for next day delivery on prime because I took the day off for it. But they still never show. I'm the typical person who jumps straight on their complaints line haha

The street over from ours has a similar name and the post office/delivery services have many times given our mail/packages to the house with the same number as ours and vice versa. I get that the names are similar but that's no excuse to leave the wrong mail at the wrong house.

That would drive me insane. How hard is it to cross check mail with correct street name, that's just lazy. Have you ever reported it?

My grandma refuses to report it so no xD
Our street name literally has a third word in it that the other street doesn't so it is a bit easy to see how it could be mistaken but you would think they'd double check the address names. The worst time was when they delivered our new washing machine to the other address....and then my grandma reported it missing and they said it was delivered/nothing they could do...After a week, my grandpa went to the other house and they had it sitting in the box in their living room LOL.

Oh haha. But yeah that sucks if you had to wait just because of that, shoulda gone straight to you then.

@Oliy I haven't had that happen because I doubt someone has the same last name as ours and such but yeah I've heard of people getting that or they get the street name wrong even though it's labelled correct.. wtf man

When I had looked up if there was anything to do about our packages getting switched, I found out apparently the city we live in is notorious for delivery services being crappy all together. We're also in a city where some people's delivery boxes/mail gets stolen often. Our mail that's letters can't get stolen unless it's the mail person stealing it, since our mailbox is the type where you put mail in then the only way to get it out is inside the house. Boxes though? They just sit out on the porch in the open.

We've been lucky to not have boxes stolen, but it's common in the news to hear about.

Ughhh that people even do that. But yeah I've heard of mail people or just anyone doing stealing here too or thing get "lost" in the mail.. Like really are you that un-organized...

I live in an apartment so yeah unless they can squeeze it through the letter thing in/on the door you have to pick it up at the grocery store office (I don't think I ever ordered so they just left it outside the door though I think you can do that unregistered stuff too).

Did the other occupants not care to let you know?! That's a bit crazy that they accepted the delivery but didn't bother notifying you

parcelforce did that with a package my partner ordered when we lived in an apartment block. It was something like ?80s worth of merch and parcelforce said 'sorry not our problem it says it's been delivered' and wouldn't give us the address they actually delivered it to so we could go get it as they refused to accept they had delivered it to the wrong address, so we never got the parcel.

Crazy what they get away with.

idk but I have major beef with whoever's fault it is that every international delivery has been taking 3-4 months to get here, I kept getting refunds from people and then would have to send the money back when the stuff randomly showed up fifty years later
