We can remodel villager houses now - Who is first in line for you?

With the new DLC coming out, owners of said DLC will be able to remodel our islanders houses. This is something people have been pining after since launch given the starter houses existing and villagers being as keen as ever to display their prized sea bass collections. I thought it would be fun to get a discussion going on who is The Villager on your island who is first in line due to house decoration related crimes? We might as well have fun with it and post pictures of our disaster houses too as one last hurrah.

I lack images right now but my girl Claudia is definitely first in line. I respect her life choices of displaying every single dress I've given her but every time I visit it feels like I'm in a thrift store. She also has a fruit basket on her stove that has been driving me (and the fire department, I'm sure) up the walls for over a year now. The second I get my hands on that basket it's going out the window.

Melba!! She was my first island villager so her house is ugly. I mean, even her original decoration is ugly so I would've remodeled it anyways.

I quite like my absolute favourite villagers house, coco so i might leave her house and work on bea’s as its Restaurant themed which i dont feel like it fits her character. i would love to re design it as a nice cosy house as i think she is more a gentle character.

Marina! I've messed up her house trying to fix it up. I hate the pink chocolate walls and she has the ugliest dress on display since forever... she deserves a mermaid sanctuary, not the pink nightmare that's going on now.

I just realized that being able to redecorate houses means I could let go of some villagers who have their starter homes. I have never let Zucker or Twiggy go since the first days of playing because inviting them back would mean they'd get their ugly original homes. Also because I love them.

Puddles! Her NH house is so ugly and so far away from what her house has always been in every other game. Honestly I'll probably just give her an upgraded version of her house from the older games.

erik for sure! his little cabin in NL looked so warm and inviting, so the ice furniture that he has in NH really bugs me. then there's the wallpaper and flooring both being so bright.... first time i set foot in his new house i instinctively started squinting.

On my main island it would be either Hopper for his house exterior or Cube’s interior. I walked into Cube’s house and thought it was glitched. I was expecting it to have ice furniture not pastel block furniture. Then I messed it up a bit trying to fix it. On my second island it would be Joey I want him to have an actual house not beach themed.

Flo on my main island needs a home makeover since she was my starter.

Annalisa, Bella, and Tucker are the Normal, Peppy, and Lazy villagers I purposefully chose in the early game from the Nook Miles Islands to be permanent residents. I did not know at the time and was disappointed to discover that they, like the starting Jock and Sisterly villagers, would have generic houses instead of their own personal interior design. So, one of them, and then the other two afterward.

After them, though, Ankha and Klaus have some stuff I want to get rid of. Klaus in particular could probably do with an overhaul, as the bath house isn't particularly endearing.

I've never had him on my island but I've seen his new vs old house comparisons and it makes me sad. Poor guy.

Are you perhaps thinking of removing Ankhas golden toilet? My mind instantly went there as I've always questioned why they gave her one...​

Definitely Zucker. I want to give him a proper home and not have him live in some night food stall imitation mess. I would love to be able to expand the size of their houses too like in HHP but I doubt that will be a possibility somehow.

Oh god, yes. She went from having a cool, regal Throne in New Leaf to having a golden toilet in her house in New Horizons. What a downgrade! There are other villagers in New Horizons who also have Ancient Egyptian style homes, like Boris and Diva, and it feels like Ankha currently has the absolute worst Egyptian-themed house of them all, which is a travesty. I love both Boris and Diva, don't get me wrong, but Ankha is the Ancient Egyptian villager and they did her dirty in this game. Looking forward to the renovation.

I don’t think I would remodel any of my villagers’ homes. I like to let them express themselves, so they are free to do whatever they want with their interiors. I wouldn’t want to change it if they are happy with their current homes. I’m okay that this is a thing considering so many people have been wanting this, but this isn’t something that’s important for me. Villagers residing in my island can choose what goes in their own home. As previously stated, it gives villagers personality and uniqueness which I believe is very important. I wouldn’t take that away from them.

I'm not sure if any of the villagers I have right now are keepers, but down the line, I would love to have Chops again and then redo his whole interior into something a bit more pompous and therefor suitable for him. Whether or not his exterior will be changed depends on how well it fits into the neighbourhood by the time he arrives - I actually quite like it as is, but maybe I want it to be a little darker.

Since it is very possible that I'll still have my starters by the time the update drops, they just might get home renovations as well, but that depends on how expensive it's going to be. If possible, I hope to move Flo to the resort long term - I can see her have a cozy little cottage on an icy island.

biskit. he was one of my first three post-starters, so he still has the crappy default house with the dirt floor and log furniture. my boy deserves a colourful room with lots of toys. i probably won't heavily change anyone else's -- just give them some decoration and periodically remove the fish/bugs/clothes they put down.

This was one of my first thoughts too! I'm going to amiibo him and Beau into the resort and get them a cozy log cabin in the woods with a cute little picnic spot in the garden
