Marina! She's a permanent resident and has the DIY house. It's not /terrible/ but it's just not her. I can't wait to give her the cute, pink house of her dreams.

Still have my first 5 starters too...think Reneigh really deserves better than her empty wooden block room 
My poor buddy Sherb has probably the worst house on the island. He was one of my start villagers, along with Dom, so he's got a default starter house that's very brown and drab on the inside. My top three for remodeling will be:
1. Sherb
2. Dom
3. Freya

Hmm...
1. Sheldon (if still on my island) - I let Rex gift him a item... it was a ugly dress (why a dress?!?) that Sheldon decided to decorate with. I gave him a ball to remove the dress from display (could pretend it's a long shirt at least on him) and he instead decided to throw something else where his radio was (his radio went bye bye). put a ball on his chair (since it's a stool), and place the other ball I gave him somewhere else. So the ugly dress is still there.. while his music is gone... and his seat is unusable. I took this all as a sign he needed to go, but I guess I could save him with the DLC. But I'm still salty about it and may let him go though. But if he stays, he has to get fixed up.
2. & 3. Bud & Rex - I kind of like both of my Lion guys and can't figure which one I'll keep. Both of them actually suffer from having interior homes that I don't quite enjoy. Whichever one I keep (or neither, or both... who knows) will need a home renovation. I could give Bud some sort of beach house with some surfboards and bar inspired stuff to showcase his party side while actually having somewhere to sleep. Meanwhile Rex could have something that doesn't look like he is stranded in the middle of a field forever. I actually have Rex near my lighthouse and he has a nice little set up with refreshments and snacks for parties, so I think I could put together something adorable for him.
4. Jaques - He's one I struggled with a bit with his interior since I both enjoy it but also don't enjoy it. I think it's interesting he has like a DJ system, but it also doesn't look welcoming. I feel like it's one I could tamper with and make something a bit more homely while keeping the theme still intact to a degree.
5. Groucho - His home suits him pretty well, but I could see myself improving what he has.
6. Henry - He placed a suit on display, so I might want to take that down and put something else at that window as my gift to replace the suit just went elsewhere.
7. & 8. Reneigh & Pierce - Both already have some pretty solid homes that I have avoided messing with much. I could see new furniture like the ceiling stuff or whatnot being added sparingly to add some spice to it though.
9. & 10. Rosie & Sherb - I don't plan on keeping either of them. I'm starting to like them both a bit more, but I mean someone has to go.
That being said, I like that villagers with straight up garbage homes like Jacob or Chief are actually on the table now for me. Before their homes were huge misses that made me not really consider them for my island.

Tom. He was a long time favorite of mine but when I got him in ACNH I was so upset by his house. Why is it a car garage? What happened to his zen vibe? I moved him out because it just felt so wrong. They are all practically carbon copies of their personality types so it's their houses that added definition to them and with the new look it was like I didn't even know him.
Learning that I could finally bring him home again and with his original vibe... I almost cried. It sounds dumb but it's true.

i don’t know but i’ll probably remodel all of my villager’s houses to an extent. im using my amiibo to invite villagers to my island and in thinking of moving in octavian & ankha, octavian’s interior doesn’t bother me. i actually like the space theme but it’s not much of a home, but what i really dislike about his house is the japanese exterior. ankha’s house isn’t much of a home either and both her interior and exterior bother me. i would immediately change ankha’s interior to a regular house and something with a little bit of an egyptian theme and if i could i’d also change the exterior. all my problem is with octavian is the japanese exterior which i do not like.
Rudy and Fuchsia for sure! Both were my 2 founding islanders, so they still have their starter homes. I'm glad I didn't bother to do the trick where you give your starter to someone, and get them back to update their houses.

I can't remember seeing this feature in the Animal Crossing Direct. Are you sure that this is true ? We will definitely be able to design a getaway house for them on the Archipelago resort ran by Lottie, but I did not see that being the case with villagers living on your normal island...
It was a very short showcase. It was when they showed Erik at Resident Services talking about how he'd never turn down someone remodeling his home.

Megan will be the first for sure. Her home interior is kinda ugly and all over the place IMO. I plan to give her a more cohesive looking honey or sweets themed room. Second will be Fauna, she has her starter home which is okay but could be a lot better. The rest of my villagers have surprisinly decent homes so I won't be changing them too much, just some touch ups here and there.

Definitely Megan. She was one of my earlier villagers so has one of the default designs. It actually really suits her, but she deserves so much better. I just wonder if they'll still be able to alter the design that we make for them? Like putting up gifts that we give them, or outfits? Hopefully they can no longer do that cuz that would be SO amazing if they could stop ruining things lol.

My Fauna. I think her house is dull so I'm going to transform it into a gardener themed one as she lives in an area where I've already put a pumpkin patch, gardening tools and formal flower beds.
She's one of my original villagers and I don't have her amiibo card so the DLC allowing you to redecorate is very welcome.

Olive for sure. She is displaying a few clothes and hats I gave her, and I’d rather she wear them or display them hung up on a wall.
I also mistakenly have given her a scorpion fish, and this bulky boy has been in an aquarium on her desk for months now. I’d come in and correct it all out.
