The goal of the cauldron is for everyone to share the type of potion they’d like, whether it happens to fall with the majority or otherwise. I don’t believe anyone is intentionally trying to disregard or force desires; however, when a train gets going, it can become difficult to express opinions that may differ. This can result in some choosing a “front runner” even if they have another idea in mind. That is the fault of no one - it comes from natural excitement over a great idea. Of course, it’s perfectly fine to run with an idea you see that you love too.
It’s nice to create and share many concepts to see what could be as the cauldron will be open for some time - whether that’s a bright blue, ocean blue, ghostly blue, blood orange, bone white, black, gray, etc. All of these are still achievable. We have the opportunity to discuss and mix and match. It’s fine to be certain, and it’s fine to change your mind.
this was really nicely put mar, thank you i hope we can all work together to make something good guys! maybe we could all throw in some more suggestions now and we can work out what is achievable and disregard cyan for a moment (the word cyan is making me want to walk on nails now)
Yellow is the other colour I was hoping someone would suggest - the first being orange that @Holla mentioned! A bright yellow would be lovely (and pair nicely with the ectoplasm or snail shell items).
Hey everyone!! I can finally post here YAY (I also missed out on a lot I think lol fjskdjsk)
I got the following:
- white dye
- chain
- moth wings
I personally like to add the white dye at some point since I'm a sucker for lighter colors, but I'll wait and see what everyone decides on! For my opinion I really like a sort of blue that reminds me of water, I want this "potion but it's actually just water" thing where the real magic is hydrating yourself
Don't forget that some people received their prize pack later than others and also that all staff who helped with the Fair received one. Everyone is free to influence the cauldron however they wish, whether they want to go along with the current consensus or try to change it. I'm sure we'll end up with something super spooky and special in the end!
Speaking of the end, we'll keep the potion brewing until Halloween nightHalloween at noon EDT, so make sure your ingredients are submitted by then. Whatever we end up with then will become our potion!
By the way, we're seeing a few different color ideas now, but keep in mind that it's highly likely we'll have more collectibles in our potion series after this one.
I'll use my thickener on the Eerie Star please. Let me know if I need to post the card(s) or if it's accepted like this because everyone got a thickener.
To note my preference again as this thread has jumped quite a few more pages the last time that I wrote, my preference still lies with something bright or pastel, personally.
I'd like something bright teal, cyan, or pink myself. Or, maybe a nice lavender purple, if that's still possible? Though I see there is already a purple collectible, so perhaps something that is similarly bright to match, but in a different colour would be nice.
(Overall, something that reads more cool, anyways. Not a big fan of orange or other warm shades).
I have magenta dye, ectoplasm, and another card I cannot remember off the top of my head but considering I can't remember it, it probably wasn't interesting enough to pique my interest lol. I think I like the mermaid or dragon scales best for the ingredient, or maybe the Celeste's bow item that was mentioned a few pages back.
I have not contributed anything yet and would be happy to at some point down the line, though I am increasingly wary of adding anything at all seeing as I thought the majority had agreed on cyan, now it seems like we are potentially going in a different direction? I don't want to upset anyone with what I will eventually add...
Let me know if you think anything in the cauldron would add to the colour we may or may not be agreeing on haha, I'll be sure to add it!

The mindset you have here of not wanting to upset anyone by adding something to the cauldron mirrors the mindset a lot of other people had as well. It created the illusion that everyone wanted the same thing, when it was evident many people were just going along with it to avoid ruffling feathers. To that I say don't be afraid to speak your mind! If everyone bites their tongue to avoid upsetting anyone else then we'll have a product that only a couple of people really like and the rest are just okay with.
This format we have here of a lot of people in one thread tossing out ideas is actually how we plan TBT Events. The first several weeks of the process are messy, with dozens of ideas—no joke, while making the first cuts to our TBT Fair 2020 itinerary I tallied up over 40 event ideas—being thrown out and everyone giving their opinions on them. Often the final result is nothing like what we originally set out to create, but that's okay. Bouncing ideas off of other people is how stronger ideas are created. We avoid getting emotionally attached to any one particular idea, which makes it easier to watch that idea develop, grow, and to let go of if necessary.
Everyone has cards to add to the pot, and everyone is allowed to add those cards and shouldn't feel like they're doing something wrong if they do. If you think the potion would look better with more yellow in it, then you can add yellow, it's okay. The point of the event is that you get to contribute to the final result.
Brown has been spoken about as if it's a bad suggestion. After some thought, I don't think it's too terrible. It would allow lots of people to use their cards, so that more people are directly contributing, and would combine nicely with several ingredients. @skarmoury's moth wings on a brown potion would look gorgeous if it took on the colouring of a death's-head hawk moth:
That ingredient alone has so much potential. I also like the idea of it being used on a grey/blue potion. If we do go in a blue direction, I do think bringing it down to a smokey/dusky blue/grey colour (like several others have mentioned) is a good way to go. Another alternative is pushing a lot more blue into the pot to make a vibrant royal blue colour which will make it pop much more when sat next to the swamp potion. I also think navy would be super pretty but I might be alone in that one!
I still think neon yellow/orange would be stunning. I think I like pretty much everything, honestly. Not a big fan of the colour pink but several people have brought it up in the past page or so which means it is absolutely worth discussing.
I hope that I don't upset too many people with this but I'm announcing that I'm throwing in a yellow dye and a thickener for eerie star at a later point. Many people seem to have suggested putting in some yellow and one yellow will turn the colour to a very pretty teal (which happens to be one of my favourite colours) #498F9E

I second this! I was trying out different color combinations earlier and thought that adding yellow made a cute teal.
For me, I'd really love a sort of dusty/gray blue (or teal), if that makes sense! It would need a little bit more of white and black ^^ But ofc that's just my preference, I'm definitely okay with any direction we go at!!
Also about the moth wings I have, I also think the moth wings would look STUNNING with a brown/yellow/orange shade I'd totally be down to use that item if we ever go with warm colors c:
orange would have been nice but by the time i had even got to the thread it would have been hard. i don't fault anyone at all but i think in the future a start date would have been nice so we could have discussed it a bit more before adding. i think that's mostly why me and lana suggested cyan as it was already blue/black
perhaps i was a little hasty though and it could have been easily resolved with more colours but initial colours would mean it's a little dull?
I felt rushed too LOL I was all for discussion but then when ppl start adding colours I was like o crap I need to pick a direction

Also as much as I believe that people should voice their opinions I do feel like we should compromise to come to an agreement.
If we each did our colours we wanted it wouldn’t turn out like anything we want individually which is why I think discussion is important
oh i don't blame you! i was just explaining why me and lana were suggesting cyan as colours had already been added, i think potentially it'd be fun if we all just did a free for all and added what we wanted but i just figured we may as well have a discussion but perhaps that was wrong of me to say! : )
Glow made these mock ups in the halloween thread and said I could share here, I think they're all using the base colour we have at the moment so still lots of room for adjustment and creativity :3
One of my feline overlords was having some tummy issues I was not aware of initially, and she decided a great place to barf would be on some of my mail and other papers I had laying out on my desk, which included my ingredient cards for this event that were all laid out. I'm very thankful I put my stickers and stars/star glitter away, otherwise they'd have been done for, too). Said papers and such were gross beyond the point of return, so I had to throw all of it out.
I did manage to quickly jot down the info I needed from said mail and papers before I disposed of it, including my ingredients, however I think it best if I sit this event out. FYI, I had received two Black (an extra card was stuck to the back of the first), +1 Thickener, and one Gourd. I wanted to give everyone a heads up so as not to be waiting on my entry. No worries though, carry on.

@Jeremy would have to confirm of course, but I don't think this should mean you can't be included. Even if he didn't want to add ingredients to the cauldron without photographic evidence (we don't have a list of who received what unfortunately) there shouldn't be any reason you can't use your thickener because everyone received one.
