Were you able to pre-order the themed switch?

See, this is something I don't quite fully understand. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Switch Lite, but why wouldn't someone ever want to play the system docked? It's the only way to get full HD. No judgments of course, just curious. I will probably play it more often docked than in handheld mode.

The short answer is that I do not have at home internet access. Also, no digital tv...gave it away when I stopped using it. So that dock would probably stay in the box or displayed on a shelf. I download all my entertainment via free wifi at my library or coffee shops and love my tablets.:D

i was tempted to but decided against it since my family has a nintendo switch that rarely gets used.
however i won't be living at home later this year, so i'm tempted to get a switch lite for personal use, but then again i would never use it outside of animal crossing, and i don't think anyone would mind if i took the switch with me and just brought it back whenever i come back home.

For me, I can see better. I still have problems seeing sometimes even though I wear glasses. Also, it is more comfortable for me because of physical issues. Those are my main reasons.

And I don't have to worry about someone wanting to use the tv at the same time or being noisy around me.

I can't speak for this person but I mostly play handheld because it's more comfortable for me. There are no really nice comfortable spots where I can play on a monitor or tv and I can be wherever when playing handheld. I do play docked on occasion, and I can tell you that I'm considering doing it for ACNH, but that's my reason at least.

I'm someone who plays handheld about 90% of the time. Not really by preference though, but out of convenience.

I feel bad using our TV for my gaming too much when my fiance is home. Also, I usually play in bed to help me fall asleep and I take my Switch to work to play on breaks or slow days. Because I use it handheld so much, the power cord is usually unplugged from the dock. Sometimes when I have the opportunity to play docked I still play handheld because I don't feel like plugging everything back in and docking it lol. I'm usually pretty busy and sometimes I can only pick up a game for 15 minutes here and there and that just seems easier handheld.

But, I really do prefer docked when I have a good opportunity. Like today my fiance is at work, but I'm home all day. The house is clean, shopping is done...so I'm hooking that baby up to the TV to play DQXI, lol.

That being said...I am going to try to play ACNH docked a lot. I just really want that experience of playing on the big screen again. I'm usually really considerate of sharing the TV with my fiance, but I think I deserve to be a bit of a TV hog with AC, lol.

These are great (and vary widely), and help me understand the reason(s) a lot better. Thank you for explaining!

I'm going to be trading in my Switch Lite for the regular Switch possibly this Friday, so I can upgrade it to something better. Unfortunately, I missed my chance to buy the themed Switch, but if I really want one Animal Crossing themed, I can always buy the skins for it. So, no, I didn't get it in time. Ah well...

I already bought a switch, used, back in October. And I just don't make enough money to be bothered to buy a new one, as cute as the Animal Crossing one was. But you can usually just order Animal Crossing Skins for them as well. I did buy an Animal Crossing case though. I needed a better case and its my compromise since I couldn't buy the AC Switch. Haha.

I am getting an original switch because that's what makes sense for me and my family atm. We also want to play games that require the console to be docked, so a switch lite wouldn't be the best first switch console for us. This is why I waited specifically to see if they would release an animal crossing themed switch, which they did, but I wasn't fast enough lol!

Either way an original switch will be the one for me next week c:
I won't be playing animal crossing on the tv though, maybe once or twice so my family can see the game, but I'm going to be way too busy being extremely picky about my island for it to be docked to the tv LOL.

It all depends on the person, I would have like the lite to be able to be docked since a lot of people do say it feels better to hold for ppl with arthritis or joint issues, which I have. But I'm toughing it out, cause I want to play mario party with my kids lol

honestly, if I'm not able to get the themed switch at all next week, I'm definitely just grabbing a black switch and making it cute. LOL no shame here. I can't wait any longer!

I did order the Animal Crossing Switch. My husband is getting my current Switch.

I had been following a few Twitter accounts for updates regarding a New Horizons Switch for months. I was able to preorder at Best Buy as soon as it was announced.

I also have the Hori shoulder bag sling for on the go from playasia and a green leaf case for daily use preordered. I had some amazon gift cards leftover from the holidays and preordered the paperbacks guide book. Useful for quick reference and new game guides always smells good to me lol

I'll have the game downloaded ready to play!

I'd never play it docked either.
My TV has enough crap connected to it, and besides, handheld looks better, and just feels more comfortable.

AC on a TV sounds weird. LOL

I'm going to be playing docked mode at times because I enjoy it, I felt like the AC I enjoyed most was City Folk on the Wii & of course you needed a TV/monitor for that.

My roommate doesn't have a switch and is planning to get the NW switch. She didn't pre-order for it and is hoping to get it on Nintendo or something. I told her she should pre-order it, but she said she doesn't mind waiting a few months for it to come back in stock.

I already have a switch (not the updated one, the older one), but would love to get the AC colored joycons or something.

Yeah. Unfortunately it is looking like a pre-order only limited edition. Haha. They might make more if the demand is there. But they wouldn't want to make too many because the only people buying them are legit Animal Crossing fans, who can afford it. Haha.

I preordered mine from the Nintendo store an hour after it was announced. I cant wait till March 20th!

Just a heads up for anyone that has ordered this Switch, make sure to check if the screen has a green/yellow tint to it.

I watched a video yesterday comparing several Switch screens side by side and the revised battery life model had the tint unfortunately. (Not all revised models have it. Not sure why it happens though.) Apparently the 3DS had similar issues.

I luckily don’t have it on my current model but if I did I think it would drive me crazy, especially considering that the AC console that you guys are paying good money for is limited edition. Might not bother some at all though. :)

EDIT: Okay, so I double checked and it doesn’t seem to be an issue per say. Just different screen variants.
