What Did You Accomplish On Your Island Today?

I was using my beaches and some areas to store my hybrids but I finally admitted to myself that I can't possibly use them all so I threw them all away so that I could start working on decorating the beaches. I figure I can always breed or clone with the ones I do have and they were just cluttering up my island. It took hoursss and I think 10+ shovels but really satisfying seeing them all clear and ready for decorating. Planted a couple more trees on cliff edges. Added a custom design to one of the polishing effects in my back room so that it looked like there were ghosts floating around. Like a second into decorating, Sherb visited and we played high card low card and after talking to him for a bit he left on his own. I do kind of feel bad when I force them to leave so I like when they leave on their own pretty soon after they visit. Was able to connect my rivers so now there's one big continuous body of water that connects to both river mouths. Had to move a lot of things around and cut some out altogether. I'm going to see if I can add a few more waterfalls to my mega body of water. Added some tents and lights to my campsite area. I know this is crazy after how much I despised it but I kind of miss the grass wear from New Leaf. I know we can make our own paths to mimic grass wear but the low quality of the custom designs make it look a bit out of place. And they have a slight white border on transparent ones so the overall look is even more jarring to me. It would've been nice having an in game path that was more natural looking like the grass wear in some of the previous games rather than just the rectangular and circular options. Something more tapered and rough looking.
 
i added a boat dock with a fishing area and seafood market on my beach to the left. i kinda wish they would let us move the beach rocks. i started working on a picnic blanket custom design. still deciding if i want to make it 2x2 or 2x3 🤔 i'm running out of custom design spaces. soon i'll have to figure out which ones to delete and which to keep. i do wish we had more slots or that they didn't separate the pro design slots and the regular ones so if i wanted more regular custom designs i could use the pro design slots. i thought about doing a mural before but it would take up sooo many slots. i'm not sure i could spare that many.
 
i made a pool resort on the right side of my island with a bar and outdoor dining area. i had to time travel to get some hibiscuses and plumerias. i learned when you time travel backwards to a different month or a significant enough time back, the bush type that should be in bloom won't be. i wish there were days in between bloom periods of the various bushes because i prefer when the bushes don't have any flowers. i thought about changing my dream address to use the trick of time traveling backwards so that none of the bushes are in bloom but i've already done the trees on the edges of cliffs trick, placing items facing inwards on tables when you're outdoors trick and putting a path under the right side of the campsite trick. i don't want people who aren't aware of these tricks/unresolved glitches? to think that i'm modding or something since i put a lot of hard work into my island. so, while i prefer how it looks when none of the bushes are in bloom, i'll just stick to having one of them in bloom.
 
worked on my picnic blanket design some more. i try to space out working on custom designs so i don't get eye fatigue. the more i look at my boating area, the more i'm unsatisfied. i tried adding some of the pirate furniture but i don't think it works with the modern look. not sure if i should keep working on it or i may have to tear it all down and pick a different theme. i find the beaches a bit harder to decorate than the rest of the island because i want them to make sense and look like beaches but that's also limiting to what you can do. sometimes i wonder if i should leave them more plain because beaches often aren't heavily decorated but then it looks too empty. conundrum.

yes it's so difficult!! i've looked at what other people have done with their beaches and also real life references of beaches and i'm still at a loss 😣 i'm going to work on diff areas in the meantime and hope that inspiration will strike 😅

Yea I have done the same and also still not sure. On my main island I have a pirate area but not sure I want one on both islands. My main also has a bamboo area. Currently on my second island I have a fish area that I may add things to. I also have a volleyball area. The last area is a sitting area with beach chairs. Good luck with your decorating.

those all sound great!! i also thought about a pirate area since there are so many cool pirate Gullivarr items. i also wanted to use the area above my peninsula to make an deserted island area where its like someone got stranded and it's closed off from the rest of my island with cliffs but they're really close to society and being saved. and the area on the other side of the cliffs was going to have a beachy music festival with a lot of music players so it would drown out their cries for help 🥹 however in the end, i thought it was a bit too dark for what i was going for with the rest of my island haha. good luck to you as well!

It sounds like a good idea . Maybe for a Halloween/horror theme island it could work. Yea I love the pirate items . I keep wanting to use some of the other gulliver items but can’t seem to find enough items to make them work.

oooh good idea! thanks, i haven't thought of doing a temporary seasonal build! oh yeah the regular gulliver items are kinda more niche so they're harder to incorporate whereas the pirate theme is a theme by itself and can stand alone.

Yea most of my builds on my main island are seasonal. The only Gulliver item I found to work so far was the pagoda.

my main island isn’t themed so only a few areas stay the same or go back to what they were once the holidays are over or the seasons change. Only my bamboo area in the back of the island and pirate area never change.

My second island is themed so only a few areas like the front entrance and the middle area with the shops change.

that must be fun to do, thinking of new builds as the seasons change!! i do that in pocket camp where it's easier to decorate, but not in new horizons because i'm still working on finishing my island :( but when i'm done that's a very creative way to keep the game fun and fresh!

It is a fun challenge. It took me awhile to get to where I can just change it for holiday’s and seasons. Yea it’s definitely easier to decorate in pocket camp.

Today on Crescent:

Gave gifts to my villagers
Placed some new items in my fish market near the pier.
Cleaned up some weeds and flowers.
Moved some items from my main island over to Crescent.
Trying to figure out what to do with my beaches and how to change my shop area for spring.
 
Oh so much, on Ataraxia I sols some more flowers while I found class to make fish bait, and went to look for the dreaded stringfish. Didn't find ut tonight, but did find a golden trout!!! I kinda wanna find another cause if how cute it is! Sent it to blathers!

Then I went to my kingdom Island, and FINAlLY Antioni decides to leave! Which is what I needed to actually get the ball rolling to start this story in the island.
Also looked for fish bait. Tried to find some diving creatures but failed on that. BUT found a STRINGFIDH, GOLDEN TROUT and BARRELEYE!!!!
Also went on the work thing to do more homes so I can get it to 30 homes. Getting closer! Finally got poles and those counters.
