So where are we all from, and what do we all do for a career/study? I'm very interested to hear what my fellow players get up to :D

For me, I'm a student studying Game Technology, we write the game engines and then we make the games using those engines. Graphics libraries are a buzzkill! I also co-own a Game Studio who freelance software developers (like me) on a commissioner and project basis. We just started recently but we are already making a profit, exciting times.

So, let me know, gals and guys 🦊

i got kicked out of college just over a year ago and got fired from my part time job 2 days after starting, so now i just chill at home playing games, cleaning the house and doing art 😊

i can't get a job because of lockdown and i have no real experience anyway 😅
but i'm cool with it, i love staying home and spending all my time with my family 💕
technically it's not a living and i'll need to get a job sooner or later because that's apparently how the world works lol

Hey, I could help you! For getting into a tech job if you are interested, take a look at CompTia certification. That will lead you on the right path, otherwise don't give up and good luck! it's all worth doing in the end. I rejected my first job as a lead developer and shareholder of an established company because I was still in university and undersold myself, my second I oversold and they rejected me. It's a rollercoaster out there, but keep trying.

tbh idk if i'm ready for a job, my first one was kinda scary, i got shouted at a lot because i don't really do stuff well enough
i've sent out so many CVs over the past year but they always get rejected so last week i decided to give up for a while and just focus on my dad's paperwork, i guess that could count as my job since he does give me money to do it aha

Prior to the pandemic I was a preschool teacher! I loved my job and my kids so much but with the pandemic and not knowing how the virus affected kids/spread in an environment with them I had to quit. My dads at risk and as much as I loved my job I’d never forgive myself if I got him sick.

At the moment I’m just living off my savings savings that were meant for college 😅 And hoping for the best. Once my dad and I are both able to get vaccines I’ll try to find another job and start saving money again.

Ideally I’d love to get another job with kids! I know my old centre won’t hire me back because we didn’t leave things on good terms (they said I wasn’t being a team player and they’re all facing risks too 😅) but hopefully another child care centre in town will be hiring by the time I’m job hunting again.

I briefly worked in a pharmacy as an assistant and I didn’t enjoy it at all. I’d prefer to avoid cashier work if I can help it because it makes me so nervous. I spent most of my lunch breaks sobbing 😅😅 so fingers crossed I get another child care job in the future and get my savings back up for school!

You should never be shouted at, that's not right! Your boss should be a calm and collected person with a level head. Too many people out there without training or social skills doing things they shouldn't be, good riddance, I say you were given a lease of life.

It's great to work with family, i've done it since I was 16, learning the ropes of a takeaway business haha! but it gears you up for life. Life can be really scary, and taking steps requires bravery, I believe you have it :) but take your time, it is a pandemic out there, and stay safe.

Hey, kudos to you for dealing with kids all day! I wouldn't have the energy. I think being an animal crosser takes some level of creativity, have you thought about doing something artistic and making money on the side? Etsy and ebay are more profitable than you may realise, it's a jungle out there, best to use all the tools in your toolkit!

As of right now, nothing. I graduated from university last year and haven’t been able to find a decent job yet. Technically I had a part-time job since last May, but as of this year I’m not getting paid for it anymore. I own 50% of a business now and have to stay involved in the decision-making and meetings. I have an interview coming up next week for a job that looks decent. I’m just hoping it actually goes somewhere. Other than that I’ve kept applying to other places. Things are difficult right now with the pandemic and nothing is a given.

Aw thanks! Definitely had some tiring days but I loved it so much that the good days always vastly outnumbered the tiring ones! They were all such sweet hearts and I miss them so much 💕💕

I unfortunately am not very creative, lol. Clumsy thumbs and the same level of artistic ability that my preschoolers had 😂

I’m starting work as a packager for a small nut company tomorrow! Until I can move to another state I’ll be working there part-time.

My long term career plan is to become a translator! The pay leaves a lot to be desired, but it’s something I’m genuinely passionate about. If that path doesn’t work out I’d work as a data analyst.

I live in Luxembourg and I study animal biology for a living, i'm in my final year and I will be finishing my internship in May.

I work for an online bicycle company that has luckily done exceptionally well during the pandemic to which I'm grateful for considering how many others have lost jobs and livelihoods in the last year or so. However I don't have a single passion bicycles nor do I ride one... yet 14 years later I'm still working with them. 😂

Right now, just a housewife. Was planning for a child this year; wanting to be a SAHM as I'm not the kind of person who could work and raise a child at the same time. Previous jobs of mine, both full and part time, include direct support professional (assisting individuals with disabilities in their homes), substitute teacher, paralegal, house cleaner, and tutor. My dream job was always something along the lines of editor or proofreader of dictionaries, but it's very difficult to break into those fields. I also tried to become a full-time teacher, and have two partial Master's degrees in different teaching fields, but I wasn't very good at classroom management.

I am a business systems analyst for an insurance company. It's a very tedious job that requires a lot of research, data comparisons, and generally staring at spreadsheets all day long looking for discrepancies. I thought I would like it at first because I was told there was more technical writing involved, but apparently every analyst does something different based on the team they are on. Plus, we are streamlining our process so they are going away from having to create so many technical documents in general. I'd kind of like to look into doing something else now, but I've been too busy to figure out what at the moment.

Great posts guys and gals! I find it so interesting to learn about people, especially fellow gamers :) it sounds like we all have our thing, hopefully after covid society will pick back up safely and we can all do our part again. For me, I'm currently doing the freelance work with the studio so it leaves me some time (not always) to play my games and do what I enjoy most, other peoples creations!

I work as a Graphic Designer for a recycling company! Due to COVID, I currently work from home full time which has been nice since I don't need to scrap off my car.

I am still lost at what I wanna do, but I think something in the art, creative, and/or design field will be up my alley.

But when this pandemic finally dies down (thank goodness the vaccines are getting out), I am going to get into a program. I believe it it will be for people who are on the spectrum and have special needs (like me). As for as I know, it will help to teach me independence skills and social skills. I NEED these skills before I can be succeed in a career, and I still lack severely in both, especially the former. ;-;

lol i graduated from university last may and i've been making coffee for a living since then. i'd like to go back to school to eventually teach at a college or something along those lines, but i'm still extremely burnt out on higher education so i'm giving myself a break until i finally feel up to going to graduate school.

I wish I was diagnosed earlier so I could have found more suitable jobs. I did so well academically that diagnosis was never really considered seriously until much later in my life. I grew up in the 1990s and graduated college in the 2000s, so there was less awareness about the spectrum, especially for us women. I wasn't diagnosed until 2014, almost age 30.

That said, even though I had a host of jobs, including a number that didn't go very well, I still learned a lot in the process. I don't have the social abilities to manage classrooms as a teacher, but at least I tried it.

I work as a sales associate. Very glamorous, I know.

I actually really don't like retail, I find it exhausting to be sort of that energetic retail personality that jobs expect from you. I am really lucky that I work in a pretty good store with nice people but I do want to get out eventually. All of my work experience is retail so I feel pretty stuck where I'm at. But also truthfully I don't really know what I want to do for work.

I did go to Uni but due to a lot of factors I wasn't really able to make the most out of the experience. My grades were just okay and some family situations left me unable to get summer jobs / work experience related to my course work. So the degree is really just a piece of paper, jobs don't seem to care about my degree and only want people with experience. Plus too much time has passed since I graduated so I'm not really a new grad anymore, if companies want a new grad they will hire someone actually fresh out of school.

I work in retail currently though I've been thinking of going and study to work in insurance I just need to stop putting it off and being a lazy butt.
