What got you into animal crossing?

I started with new horizons! the adorable trailers of the game are definitely what piqued my interest. the small details like sending letters to friends and having a little nookphone made me go "eeeeeeee this is adorable I need this game ;;o;;"

I grew up without video games. There was only black and white television when I was born. :ROFLMAO:

My first and only game was the Greenhouse, a Nintendo Game & Watch title. Back in the '80s. I still have it somewhere. After I graduated and worked and got married and could afford more things in life, and the Internet happened, I read about the Animal Crossing games. I wanted one. So Wild World became my first AC game. Loved it. Then New Leaf happened. Loved that too.

I knew there would be another AC game so, when the Switch was launched, I kept an eye out. I bought the Switch when they released Labo. Then I played and fell in love with Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

New Horizons is the only game I'm playing on the Switch. I'm mostly a PC gamer.

I got it for the Gamecube and it was fun and so was WW. I really can't remember what got me into it. I think I just went into the game store one day and saw the cover art and thought it looked cool. That's how I decided on games back in the day since the internet wasn't really that readily available. Nor were reviews.

I slept on NewLeaf just like I did with CityFolk. I actually picked up CF, but decided to take it back before I even opened it. I felt it'd be too similar to the games I already played and wasn't looking forward to doing that again. It wasn't until some commercial that explained that you were mayor and could do whatever you wanted with the town that it sparked my interest again.

I'm really glad I caught that commercial, otherwise I would probably not be playing the games.

My cousins playing Wild World. I saw the cute animals and was instantly like WHAT IS THIS!!!??? Then I bought it and have loved the series ever since.

My first Animal Crossing game was the GameCube one. I don’t remember for sure, but I think it was just a game I saw at the store when my parents were letting me choose a new game to get. Sometimes I’d ask my parents for a specific game that I knew about, but other times I’d pick one out at the store that seemed fun. Either way, I ended up loving the game, so after that I just kept getting and playing the other games in the series as they came out. I played Wild World, City Folk, New Leaf, Pocket Camp for a bit, and now I’m playing New Horizons~

First time I ever played was when my parents took me to Block Buster (when those stores were around aND super fun to go to) I saw Wild World on the shelf and thought it looked cute so I asked them to rent it along with their movies. Took it home, put the game in my purple GameCube sat in front of my small ugly tv in my Mary Kate and Ashley pajamas and played all night and all day. Eventually my parents bought it for me buuut yeah. Childhood memories<3 ever since I’ve played every animal crossing game that comes out. New Horizons is a game changer! There’s so much to do, I would have never thought it’d get this far when I was a kid. So happy it did though ^_^

I got NL shortly after the Welcome Amiibo update. My friend had heard about it and wanted to try the series so she dragged me to the store and we both bought copies. We were hooked pretty instantly. Her financial situation is a lot more tight than mine for various reasons so she wasn't able to get a switch to join me in NH until Tuesday of this week [AC Edition!] and I was able to get her the game and switch accessories and we've been running around like psychos on our islands every day after work haha. I have other friends to play with but shes my AC buddy I missed playing with her.

My cousin is a fan and mentioned how it was a cute game that she liked. I didn't really know anything about it... I didn't own any Nintendo systems since the N64 and mostly played games on the computer, but when HHD came out I decided to buy a 3DS to see what the hype was about. I bought New Leaf shortly after and really loved both.

My son had a switch. He got ACNH when it came out. I tried pocket camp after watching him, but didn’t really get into it. For Mother’s Day, my 3 boys got together and got me a switch lite and Animal Crossing. I was hooked instantly.

We had a Wii, but I wasn’t aware of animal crossing back then. Now I kind of wish we had known.

My friends got me into it! I started to play pocket camp when it came out and we made a big group chat to talk about the game and trade resources and stuff. Once we saw that NH was coming out all of us got the game and have continued to play together ever since. I'm still new to the AC franchise but I enjoy it so much. It didn't take that long to become fully obsessed with it!

New Horizons is my first Animal Crossing game. I wasn't planning on getting it -- I have a Switch Lite that I bought for Pokemon only -- but my boyfriend and a bunch of other friends convinced me to give it a try.

Ironically, I'm probably the one that plays the most now, months after the initial hype for it died down. Part of the reason I finally made an account here was so that I could ramble about it because I imagine my friends are very tired of it, haha.

My old best friend got me into the game. She and I happen to be on our way to a school field trip and she was playing Wild World at the time. I watched her and instantly fell in love. I'm even more in love with New Horizons. The Animal Crossing games have really improved over the years and that's a very good thing. To be honest, I kept starting over and over in New Horizons the last few months since release date, but now that I reset my Switch, I'm starting fresh one last time. I got a theme in mind of what I would like to do, so I'm still playing it even though the game hype has died down. 😉

I always saw Wild World in GameStop but never bought it because I wasn't sure what it was about. But I was always drawn to the animals on the box art. Then, one of my friends let me play it at a sleepover and I was hooked. I bought the game the next day after hogging her DS the whole sleepover. It's been my favorite series ever since :)

ACGC when I was five or six, been going strong all these years alongside my sibling. Except Pocket Camp. Nope nope nope.
majorly cut down a word block whoops!

My son literally made me play the game cube version. That was a loooong time ago. Lol. I thought the game looked stupid, and couldn't understand why anyone would bother with such a boring, strange game. My son got the game from a friend and the two of them were really into it. One day, he urged me to start a character, so I did. I've loved all animal crossing games ever since.

I had the gamecube and play Animal Crossing on that. How my family ended up with game, I don't remember fully. However, since me and my siblings were young children, I think my parents may have selected the game for us to play. I don't really recall me or my siblings asking for the game specifically. Either way, it lead to my all-time favorite game obsessions. (I have played every Animal Crossing game except Amiibo festival.

ZackScottGames’s New Leaf playthrough was what got me into it and then I noticed how many people bought the new game, and I decided to get it too.

New Leaf gotten me to Animal Crossing. I got the game after it came out 1 year later, and to me, it was like a game changer. My mum still say it was such a mundane chore to go fishing, catching bugs etc, but I found talking to villagers and go exploring is really fun.

It is like something you slowly built and then you get something in return in the long run. I have good memories about it.

I think my adventure has started slightly different than most of you. I lived in complete ignorance until 2020 having no idea about existence of Animal Crossing. Everything has started in July 2020 when my GF received Tamagotchi for her birthday from her friends. It was a basic model of this game, one of the clones. My GF hasn't been playing for many years, where I was active player all the time.
I was started to looking for an alternative - trying to find something like Tamagotchi, but more interesting, better.
I found Digimon:

But finally I realised it's not so tempting as it could be. I quickly dropped this idea and start my research again, found many websites, saw many short and longer movies... and I found Animal Crossing. As I mentioned, never played and without absolutely no idea if this game is good or not, I decided to make a first step towards it.
As part of my Nintendo consoles collection is with my family, including my Nintendo DS, I bought Animal Crossing Wild World for Wii U and started playing immediately, and what is most important I offer this for my GF and she liked it!
My next step was ACNL, as I still have my 3DS in perfect condition and I bought digital copy, but screen in 3DS was too small for both of us. In the meantime I realised I have Animal Crossing City Folk in my Wii collection and stared playing this one, on the big screen. Later on, I found many trailers about ACNH and I asked if my GF wants Switch and if she will be playing it... and she said "yes", and in August 2020 we bought first Switch + ACNH for her. One week after, I bought Switch for me + ACNH.
