I wouldn't say they got me into anime (since I'm not into it), but I still have fond memories of those childhood animes like dragon ball, sailor moon, inuyasha, pokemon, digimon, cardcaptors, etc. We never had consistent cable when I was little, so I never really saw any of them continuously, but damn are the theme songs nostalgic anyway.
My earliest memories is probably anything that was on Cartoon Network. Stuff like Gundam Wing, Ronin Warriors, Hamtaro and Zoids. Robotech too, but I don't think it was introduced to me through Toonami.
My first anime was Death Note as well. I was never really into the mainstream anime like Naruto and DBZ because they were too long and I have a very short attention span. ;p
I went on to watch FullMetal Alchemist (the longest anime series I've watched, it has about 50 episodes I believe) and then Attack on Titan. These 3 pretty much sparked my interest in Japanese anime. ^^
Definitely Inuyasha was my first anime if I don't count Pokemon and Yugioh. Then I got into the original FMA and the 2001 version of Cyborg 009 and went along from there.
My country aired quite a lot of anime when I was a wee little babe. The first anime that my little eyes watched was Daimos and Voltes-V (also Cutie Honey but shhh). Then... Card Captor Sakura, YuYu Hakusho, Samurai X etc. Those anime made me got into anime because they had amazing storylines!
I don't really remember how it happened, but I watched Haruhi while it was airing. I was like 11 and it made no real sense. But also thinking about it really makes me miss that era of fansubs.... We didn't really have anime air on tv here
actually it wasn't shugo chara it was digimon data squad
i remember trying to find episodes online because they stopped airing it on tv and then i found shugo chara, watched it, then i kept on watch anime
