What word can you never spell correctly on the first attempt?

Deficiency gets me every time too, oh my goodness 😔 I have such a hard time with it.

Sometimes definitely gets me too. It’s one of those words that I can only spell if I don’t put too much thought into it, lol. If I have to actively think about it I always end up getting a little jumbled and forgetting the order of things 😅

Colloquialism. idk, even though I pretty much never use it, it's literally the first word that came to mind as something I struggle to spell, since I'm generally pretty adept at spelling words that I use on a regular basis.

I'm a pretty good speller most of the time, but I always have to look up how to spell diarrhea. Luckily, as others have said, it's not a word I need to use very often.

One word I have never been able to spell correctly on the first attempt is deficiency. I butcher it so badly that my spell checker never knows what I am trying to type and I need to get a dictionary. It is a word I use often so it is a bit of a nuisance!

Restaurant got me for a long time, I kept mixing up the a's and u's. I'm learning Dutch at the moment and have learned 108 works in a week, so things are going well on that front at least, haha.

I always want to spell definitely as "definitly". Also I have a weird habit of typing hello as "hellow", not sure why. lol

i think i’ve finally gotten the hang of it but for the longest time, i couldn’t spell necessary correctly lmao. i’d either add two many c’s or two many s’ to the point where not even autocorrect could help me. 🥴

As a writer I'm really, reeeeally OCD about spelling lol I can't stand typos/punctuation errors and the like. I gotta get every detail just right otherwise it stresses me out (and don't even get me started with numbers/math/counting oh god)

Words that are the bane of my existence include:
  • Endeavor
  • Crescendo
  • Unnecessary
  • Miscellaneous
  • Criticism
I'm just like, screw it google it. You'd think by now these kind of words, with how many times we may have to look it up just for the proper spelling, would become second nature by now, but English man...do you speak it? lol

Femininity. Way too many Ns and Is for my brain to handle

aesthetic a lot of time but I've gotten better lol

Also opportunity, I can never seem to get that right 😂

Honestly going to wing it again and I don't have autocorrect on but:

Necessity (and basically any word from this family). Can never remember if it's double C-s and also double S-s or just one double.

One would be tomorrow. I'd sometimes spell it as 'tommorrow' or 'tommorow'. The other word I have trouble spelling is license. I spell it as 'licence' or 'lisense' from time to time. English is so weird. I don't know if I'm even spelling words correctly like if I have to spell 'color' or 'colour'. Grammarly hates it if I put in the letter u.

Tomorrow is the worst. I can spell Mississippi and hypoallergenic and necessarily and didgeridoo but tomorrow always comes out as “tommorrow” and I think it’s because of the omo, LOL.

I assume you have US-English grammar stuff cause adding the extra u is British? i learned "colour" in school so i was pretty surprised when gameboy color weren't named gameboy colour lol

I struggle with "embarrass". I do not understand why it needs two r's. Also, "presence", because my mind is desperate to give it a silent c and make it "prescence".

Definitely, I always have to google it as the spell checker can't even understand what I'm trying to spell out. When talking through Discord I shorten it to def because looking it up takes to long when chatting in real time haha.
Lol! I have the same problem with definitely, but maybe it a little understandable since English isn't my native language (I try to feel a little better with myself telling me those little lies)... but I speak Spanish and I have a terrible problem with the word saludos = greetings, so every single time I write an email (mostly for work) I end up writing slaudos 🤦‍♀️ Only God knows how many emails I have sent like that...

Haha I'm the same way with typing in both languages! I just chalk it up to having that difficulty developed since I was learning both English and Spanish at the same time. I tell myself I'm allowed to mess up here and there with some words. 😂

Can relate on messing up work emails. Last week I started an email with "Dead Dr [surname]" instead of dear... luckily I caught it a fraction of a second before hitting send! 🙈

there's a word that i'm forgetting that is technically correct with two L's at the end but i think officially is spelled with one L but i can't remember for the life of me what it is.

but sarcophagus definitely is one that trips me up. i have a bad history with this word. i missed fourth grade on ONE friday when my teacher handed out the spelling list for our test the next week and we went from easy simple words to **** like sarcophagus and i didn't know and i got every word wrong that week. humph.

Specific
And I use it often but still can't remember without spell check
I am sure there are others but they aren't coming to mind right now.
