What's the story behind everyone's island name?

Pallet: I've been a Pokemon fan since childhood, and have been naming my town this since WW. It's tradition at this point.

I carried over the same name from my NL town and called mine "Skypiea" as I was obsessed with One Piece back then; it feels really nice when I meet villagers I've had in my NL town in NH. It makes the name all the more special and really brings me back.

eucalyptus mint is my favorite scent because its so calming and i wanted animal crossing to be a calming experience lol... i still like it a lot!

My island name was dependant on wether or not they put "Island" at the end; if they did it would be Crayonla, if they didn't it would be Isla Nublar (Without the space because there's still a small limit unfortunately). Which is named after the island in Jurassic Park

I wanted my island to be really beautiful like a Roman villa, so I named it Etruria after the town Rome was founded atop of!

Mine's Hātoshima. It's weird stinky pseudo-Japanese that roughly translates to "Heart Island" and I think that's a nice name for an island in a peaceful game like Animal Crossing.

Tiel: Comes from a species of parrots that I own. both have pictures spread thru the island.

Mine is Abarat. It's the name of a fictional group of islands from a book I like by Clive Barker. :)

We named it after my kid's favorite stuffed animal - "Diddi". My son's got his own character on the island (he's 4, by the way, turning 5 in May), he loves to just walk about, eat fruit and fish and whatnot. I do all the huffing and puffing about to earn miles and bells, and keep sending him teddy bears and toys in the mail, which he loves checking out. :) We made a flag based on a picture of Diddi.

I use the same name as I did in New Leaf: Kupoland, the reason being, when I started NL, I didn't have a name in mind, and going by the looks and aesthetics of the game, it kinda reminded me of the Moogles from Final Fantasy. Moogles say "Kupo!" all the time, and then I just added the generic "land" to it.

In ACGC (which I only played after NL) my village is called Moritown, based on the name of the game itself (Dobutsu no Mori), meaning "forest town".

got my island name Axolotl from @sierra’s “island names for sale” thread - my island was initially going to be called Apricity but then i saw Axolotl and fell in love with it lmao

Isla Shion
My attempt at an island pun
(It's supposed to sound like "illusion")

I just wanted my island to have the word "star" in it. Considered Starlit, Stardrop, etc.. Thought of Starfall pretty quickly and I liked it.

I have a town in NL where I stopped the town clock in order to keep the DLC van stay. Because it stopped, nothing new for the characters in this town and I felt it sad. So I named my island this town's name. Though, I changed up the mayor's name a bit, into Japanese characters while original was in Alphabet.
Hope my mayor Yukina enjoys her island!

I named mine Faerywood because I want my island to be a magical, whimsical place (Faery-) but with a cozy, woodsy cottagecore feel (-wood)!

Somnus - named after the god of sleep, same with my username (dormire), meaning sleep
I have narcolepsy so, I made it a habit to name things after sleep or act of sleeping haha.

i named my island Gelsey Bay because i went to this musical and had one of THE HAPPIEST times of my life, and one of the people's names was gelsey! i thought it was a really unique name so i used it and made it a lil beachy with the addition of 'Bay'!

i didn't think to look up the meaning until after naming my island and found out the name stems from the italian word "gelsomino" (jasmine) and that's my name! i essentially named it after myself LMAO so now it's a happy little (accidentally narcissistic) bubble life for me!

I like painting in aquarel, and i like bright colors such like crayons.

I also really like the letter Y and foreign sounding names :p

And so Creyal was born 🌸😊

My island's named Frubberg, which is Bounsweet's German name (Frubberl) with one letter changed. "Berg" also apparently means hill or mountain, so it fits even more :)

My previous towns have been called Haventon and I wanted to make it a little different, being more island-centric. I went with Port Haven as a last second sort of thing and I really like it lol
