I did reset a few times, mostly for a map that I liked and a good combination of villagers/fruit etc...I ended up pretty happy with the result but I didn't quite get the colour of airport I wanted...it stills bugs me a little but after so much time there's no way I'll reset for that!
When I first started the game I reset a few times for my starter villagers - there weren't any specific ones I was looking for, just wanted a couple I could enjoy having on my island and ended up with Flo and Hamlet, had never had them before so was nice to get to know them. I ended up with apples as my starter fruit and while I hadn't reset for them it was my favourite option as it had been my starter fruit in every previous game. It actually took me a while to realise the airport colour was linked to anything in particular so maybe I should've paid more attention to that.
I restarted my island around the beginning of this year and this time I was very set with what map I wanted and reset until I found one with the airport lined up directly with resident services. Once I finally found it I ended up with two south rivers, oranges and a green airport - all of which were different from my original island so it was nice starting afresh with a complete change.
i’ve had my island since release day, so i was so eager to play i honestly didn’t care what my layout was like LOL. i must say, creating an entrance was HARD considering my residence service building is about 15 spaces away from my airport, but i managed!
Nope. I was prepared to reset the game since I wanted peaches on my new island, but the game gave me an island with peaches on my first try. I even got two villagers I used to have that I’m fond of. I feel very lucky.
No resetting from me! Heck, it didn't even dawn on me that resetting was a thing considering that I started the game pretty much the second that it was available to play digitally when it came out.
That said, I wouldn't reset. I think that my island is absolutely perfect. I love having river mouths empty at the bottom of the map as opposed to the sides, and I think my plaza is in a nice, central location that works out great. Heck, I pride myself in the minimal amount of terraforming I did to the island (compared to others). All I did was remove a segment of the river and shrink another portion down to make more room for projects. Even then sometimes I feel like I could always have those areas back due to not knowing what to do with some of the extra space on my island.
If I remember correctly (as it has been a moment since I've played) I have a blue airport, Oranges are my native fruit, and my Resident Services is to the top left of the initial area of the island (if that makes sense). My starter villagers were Axel and Shari whom I love to bits and always want around.
I probably reset 20-30 times for oranges and an orange airport, a single south facing river mouth, an RS close to the beach/airport, the secret beach being to one side, a round tipped peninsula, and a variety of beach rocks. I found an island that seemed perfect to me minus the peninsula and rocks (I even LOVED the shape of the river it gave me even though I knew I could terraform later) — for 2 days ha.
Then I started disliking the RS being close to the beach and not aligned, and debated resetting but also didn’t want to ever reset again so I just stuck with the challenge. (Mine is 6 blocks from the plaza!)
I never reset for villagers since I like the experience of having different/unexpected villagers (and have a few amiibo cards as a safety). I also didn’t care about native flowers or pier size or anything else really
If I ever start another island I would probably aim for something themed and might reset a similar amount but likely for different features!
On launch day I reset for a couple hours trying to get a map that fit the town layout I had been planning for months before release. I also had a “no pears” requirement since that was my New Leaf fruit and I wanted something new.
Of course I ended up growing to hate the map I chose
And it’s better if I don’t talk about the insane amount of resetting/island map hunting I’ve done since then It’s become like shiny hunting to me…
The only thing I reset for was the map/layout. I really wanted one that I liked and I’m glad I did as I didn’t do a lot of terraforming aside from the top-most layer.
With my first island (on release), I didn’t realize that the airport and plane colour would be random when starting my island, so I didn’t pay much attention to it. My mind was more focused on map layout. But for my second island, I made it a goal to aim for a blue airport and plane. As for the native fruit, I wasn't too picky, but I did appreciate it when I get apples or peaches. That's always a nice little bonus!
Yeah i reset! I dont remember how many times I did but it wasnt many. I wanted, I think it was either peaches or cherries, i ended up with peaches in the end. I also was trying to get a specific river end layout that went from the side to the front and i wanted resudent services close to the airport but not too close. I think I was also trying to make sure I had starting villagers id be okay with having for a while.
I have to say some of my choices were good but I definitely also have my issues with it lol. I think I wad a little too eager to start so I didn’t take a lot into consideration, but its also kinda things ive only learned since actually playing. But I do wish I thought about my land outlet a bit more, mines so small i cant do much with it lol. I also did end up with my resident services kinda too close to the airport, I did come up with an entrance im really happy with in the end but it was a little tedious to do lmao
No, but I probably would have if I hadn't gotten a blue airport and peaches on my first try. Cherries were actually the native fruit I wanted the most, but peaches were my second choice, so I was happy enough to get them. I'm still happy with my choices, and I don't wish I'd chosen differently. I have all of the fruit trees, including cherry, now anyway
not in particular tbh. i'm not super fond of any of the airport colors and wished there were more options or if it were customizable makes no sense that we can customize nearly everything but the airport color. my fruits never mattered to me as well. i only really looked at the map layout.
