Cartoons or Anime?

Anime. They have more of an intense story while cartoons have quite a bit of an entertaining value for a short period of time.

Hard question! I love the art style of anime! But sometimes I don't enjoy it. I prefer to read manga as I love books in general!
But I also love cartoons because they're mostly shorter and easier to watch then anime. In all I'd probably choose cartoons!
But if it was Manga vs comics (graphic novels) I'd choose manga!

Cartoons, all the way.
I think, though, that it's what was more available for me to watch, than anime.
I have found some anime that I like, but I don't take the time to watch it.
Still prefer cartoons :D

Plus, I can't read fast enough to keep up with the subtitles, sometimes.

Cartoons. Could never get into anime, just doesn't appeal to me. In a way I'm glad because it didn't give me preconceptions of Japan and what its culture and people are 'supposed' to be like before I spent some time there. Just like with any form of media, you need to wade through a sea of crap to find some golden eggs but it's always a good time once you do find something polished.

I grew up on cartoons of the 90s like Animaniacs/Pinky and The Brain, Rugrats, Rocko's Modern Life, the slew of Cartoon Network shows, etc. While I still watch Animaniacs and even old school Spongebob on occasion for nostalgia reasons, I find myself into Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, and even the My Little Pony reboot these days. All very different shows but with their own individual strengths which get me immersed in their respective universe.

Someone above posted this already - there are good and bad anime, and good and bad cartoons. Technically anime is the same as cartoons. In Japan I think they'd call American cartoons anime as well (it's just animated shows, isn't it?). There are good and outstanding animated shows, plots, originating from English countries, as well as Japan. You like the art style of anime? Not all anime looks like your standard 'anime characters'... so...

I love to watch the old time cartoons. The Flintstones, Scooby Doo, Rugrats, Huckleberry Hound, Top Cat. Call me old fashion I guess. I never can get into anime. it just doesn't keep my interest.

Ah yes, Scooby-Doo is the best. I love watching the old "Where are you, Scooby-Doo?" episodes as well as the "What's New, Scooby Doo?" ones and all the movies that they've had with Scooby-Doo in them from time to time. The Flintstones and Rugrats are also nice old cartoons I enjoy watching. :)

Anime! I feel like more anime plays a story over a period of time instead of each episode being it's own thing and the series never really leads up to anything. Also the art is just so gorgeous! Theres some pretty cute cartoons out there, too but I love the art and animations and stories anime has. :]

Anime .. for sure. There are some really well done and fun stuff out there and not all fandoms are as toxic as some cartoon ones.

I do like cartoons like Totally Spies and such but it's not that I go fart deez nuts over the never SU episode like some people
