They are the same thing, Anime in Japanese is cartoon ◄.►

actually you're wrong because there are such thing as Japanese cartoons ok?
anime was made after manga started appearing because people wanted to watch it and cartoons existed before that so don't get them confused.

Why can't we pick both? I enjoy watching cartoons but I also enjoy anime.

I like cartoons. I can list off dozens of cartoons that I like, but only four or five anime that I appreciate. Avatar the Last Airbender is my jam.

Anime hands down. My question is though do 3D animated series like Star Wars: The Clone Wars fall into the category of cartoons?

If something has a plot that I like, I'm into it. Cartoons usually fail in this category, not to mention that no cartoons please me whatsoever. The old spongebob was good, but now its all about $$$ for the creators. I've recently gotten into an anime called "Fullmetal alchemist" and its probably one of my favorites, I'm only I'm episode 9.

Overall I'd say anime, cartoons just don't do it for me. (Except for Adventure time, that's the ONLY exception.)

Bit of both. Im not really into anime that much but i do enjoy watching some. Then you have those people that say that anime is just cartoons so

Cartoons because I'm not a weeaboo

There are some good anime though. I watch it on occasion, but I prefer American cartoons

Hmmm... Hard pick. I'd have to choose anime due to a larger library. Cartoons and anime are both great.

They each have some good ones though I should note, I'm FAR more familiar w/ cartoons than anime! I'm going to names some good ones from each though:

Cartoons
-Adventure Time
-Courage the Cowardly Dog
-Regular Show
-Steven Universe(I actually haven't seen too much of this but DO enjoy of the little I've seen!)
-Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM(every Sonic fan should check this one out!)

Anime
-GantZ
-Berserk

my memory is NOT serving me well this night!

Isn't anime just another sub-genre of cartoon? Anyways I'm going with anime, as I've experienced more diversity within it.

It's hard to say because there are both good and bad cartoons and anime. I like watching both.

Usually, the anime I watch have some sort of plot or great character interaction. A lot of anime fail to provide original or interesting characters or storyline so I'm very picky with the ones I watch. Clannad, Nagi no Asukara, Madoka Magica and Cardcaptor Sakura are, in my opinion, great anime with great characters. Things like Yuru Yuri or The Familiar of Zero... not so much. xP

Cartoons are also nice. Steven Universe is great, along with Gravity Falls and Ruby Gloom. But then if you watch cartoons like Johnny Test... please don't.

Both choices are so different and have a huge range of bad to good and even different genres. That's why I find it silly when people claim to "hate anime" or "hate cartoons." They are all very different in terms of genre.

That's actually really offensive to people by saying that if you like anime you are automatically a weeaboo, because a lot of people I know just like anime along with other things that are more common in our culture.

No, I'm English and I have English friends who like anime among things that are more common in English and American culture. When did I say I was Japanese?

I enjoy watching both, but right now, anime is something that I enjoy a lot more & is something that I still watch, tbh.

I LOVED watching cartoons when I was younger (& still watched TV orz), so I suppose I still like them to this day, but I don't think I'd actually actively go out of my way to watch cartoons now.

Get off your high horse. It was a joke, though, I think you would qualify as a weeaboo

i thought you were ignoring me kek
