this is hard, i can't pick
overall i watch more anime than cartoons

It depends on the show but I usually prefer cartoons more than anime because I find most cartoons more humourous these days.

I like both to be honest.

Both of them have their strengths and weaknesses, and I can watch either of them on a given basis.

Both cartoons and anime are the same thing.

Anime all the way <3 I just find anime to be more appealing than america cartoons. Some of the artwork for america cartoons just aren't pleasing to my eyes, especially some of the plots. (However, there are some cartoons that I do like c: I just prefer anime over america cartoons hahaha)

Let's be honest, Avatar and Korra are the closest cartoons you'll get to an anime.

It's still a cartoon :) You can't make this an exception, it was a very American production. Don't know how it can be 'close to an anime' when it's not at all Japanese. (And there are probably many bad anime that are just like the bad cartoons in the States as welllll)

Gotta be anime. I started watching them when I was very small from VHS tapes my parents rents from the store. I only started watching western cartoons on TV when I was 11!

So are you saying anime is an artstyle or a country an animation came from?

If it's animation style, I know quite a few 'anime' that aren't anime.

If it's country of origin, Avatar and Korra are as much anime as Johnny Bravo is.

I know, but at the same time it's hard to label it in the category of cartoon. The art style and progressive story line are different then that of your typical cartoon which usually do not follow a chronological order of events. I feel like it fits into the anime category more because most anime, even the bad ones out there, do follow a storyline. Obviously it cannot be labeled as an anime because it did not come from Japan. Anime or not, my point is it's a rare kind of cartoon. I know Steven Universe follows a story and everything because I watched all the episodes so far, but it doesn't meet the same level of Avatar in my opinion.

My answer above pretty much says my thoughts.

@DarkDesertFox

I think that's just a misconception~ If you do some googling there were many cartoons with continuous plots ^-^ Probably most well-known are superhero shows! But I'm guessing things changed in the past decade because people started watching TV less, and weren't always able to catch the show at a specific time. But now with SU, Gravity Falls, Avatar, it's starting up again thanks to the popularity of streaming mediums and the internet :) Netflix!!

*ALSO WOULD LIKE TO THROW OUT THAT I LOVED TEEN TITANS THAT CARTOON WAS AMAZING AND PLOT WAS AMAZING OMG
