Why Are Mice So Unpopular?

One thing I've noticed about villager popularity is that simply being a mouse seems to automatically make villagers unpopular. Sure, you could argue a lot of their designs are unappealing, but then you have Chadder and Dora who look like they'd be extremely popular. Normally people love food villagers like Chadder, and Dora looked like Marshal before he existed. Candi and Broccolo aren't bad either. I haven't even seen anyone say their models are particularly bad, like they do with monkey villagers. My only other guess is that mice are often associated with disease, but that doesn't stop characters like Mickey Mouse from being popular.

I have no idea. Same goes for other unpopular species too (hippos/monkeys/etc) Personally they are not my favorite species by any means but they do have some good designs. Samson is adorable imo. Rod does seem to get some attention.

I always thought they were oddly shaped when I played New Leaf back in the day. Maybe it's the head to body ratio? I'm not sure. I've been thinking about giving Greta a chance though.

I don't like most of their designs, but Rod is pretty cool. I'd consider him for a second jock if we suddenly got a whole lot more villager spaces. Other than him, though, I think they're just not that appealing. Plus they're so small!

I guess it's just one of those species where the majority of the designs are unappealing to most, so it brings the whole side down. I know that Bella has one of the most hated designs of all, but she was my first peppy villager and I couldn't help but love her. To each their own, I suppose!

Personally, I feel like they just get overshadowed by fancier species. I mean, they're not my favorite species, but I do like them- sometimes I just kind of... forget about them. But Rod is literally on my list of villagers I want at some points *pokes signature* I'd also be open to Bella or Bree or Samsom and Broccolo is a cutie! Penelope is also SO close to being cute... but her fur color makes her look like a zombie. I'd still consider her, though, just for the ears- I imagine her as a mouse born without ears who learned how to embrace it!

I don’t have a strong opinion on them. Most of the designs just don’t click with me. My favorite being Bella, Rod and the cute one with the green hair (blanking out on her name right now aaa).

The most common reason I’ve seen for their unpopularity has to do with how big their head is and the general shape of it. Personally, their heads don’t bother me.

I actually really like Samson. I'm pretty sure he was one of the first villagers I had way back in the original Gamecube game. So...I definitely have a soft spot for him (even though I don't have him in New Horizons, and maybe never will).

I really can't picture any of the mice except for Bree. I had her in PG and she was cute. But I also had Limberg voided on my NL town and he creeped me out. Five-o-clock shadow and all. He looked like someone who just got up from a hard night of drinking.

Oh and how can I forget about Moose? That mouse has a face stuck in perpetual confusion.

I have no clue. I personally think Chadder has a great design, based off cheese. Most of the villagers based off foods are quite popular, and it’s weird how Chadder just isn’t. People seem to just overlook mice. I rarely see them as anyone’s dream villagers. Marshal is extremely popular, and I know he’s cute, but the villager tier lists are messed up, in my opinion. You have pretty much the same chance of finding Marshal on a Nook island as you do Agent S, so the price being so much more to get Marshal is obscure to me. It just feels weird to me how many people just put price tags on villagers, especially if the person is going to move out said villager anyway. It’s understandable if you’re in need of some bells for a loan or tickets to find who you’re looking for, but it’s so rare to find people giving out villagers for free. It’s definitely not to bash anybody for auctioning off villagers or asking for bells, but I just truly never understood the concept. I’m going really off topic so I’ll just end it here.

I personally don’t like a lot of the mice because I don’t like their designs. I do think Broccolo is adorable as well as Rod. Dora and maybe Penelope aren’t actually not bad nor Bree (I had Bree as a random move in in NL and I was not happy and still may have a grudge ; but that aside, her design is one of the better ones to me). Samson is okay too. I’ve been more open minded about villagers lately so I could see myself liking some more of the mice if I happened to see more screenshots, appreciation posts and/or got to know them by inviting them to my island

I definitely think some of the mice villagers are cute, but equally there's just something about their general design that's widely unappealing to me? i don't really know how to describe it. but i guess it all just comes down to personal preference

Dora looks pretty cute, i never seen her before :0 generally though im just not a huge fun of their designs and their mold in the game

Sometimes it just seems like it's hard out there if you're not cute like the Cats or cool like the Wolves.

I personally happen to like a number of Mice. Bella's my favorite of the bunch, but I also like Bettina, Bree, Moose, Penelope, Rod, and Samson.

I don't really find anything inherently unappealing about Mouse villagers, though admittedly, they're also not my favorite species either.

I don't dislike the mouse villagers I just never get any. The only one I had was Anicotti back in my gamecube town. The only ones I find weird looking are Greta(just really bad makeup) and Rizzo because of the weird bandanna thing tied under his nose. Most of them are really cute. My biggest mystery island regret was a mouse. I met Bettina, who I never knew existed before that, on bamboo island. She's adorable and I wanted her but I was looking for specific villagers so I let her go. To this day I wish I had invited her to my island and I promised myself if I find her again I will.

Regardless of their individual "skins", I just don't like the model. I feel like nintendo could have made the model more appealing. To each their own I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Probably because most of them are ugly. There's so many ugly mice that most people say the species is ugly as a whole. Personally I kind of like some of the mice that get the most hate, like rizzo.
