What is your favorite Pokemon main series generation of games? I've grouped the games based on the 8 generations (because unfortunately there aren't enough poll options to include every game/pair of games + remakes). Vote for your favorite Pokemon generation and share your reason why you voted how you did!

my fave pokemon game is alpha sapphire :3
it has the best music and i love the after game story ♡
also when you surf on kyogre it appears in the water (i forgot how to spell it's name so hopefully that's right lol)

Gen 3 and 5 are my favorites but I also like the ORAS Gen 6 remakes! :) In some ways I think they're better than the original Ruby and Sapphire (I mean...how did we live with TMs that weren't reusable...plus there were just a lot of "quality of life" improvements) but the originals make me very nostalgic; I think Sapphire might have the most hours I've ever put into a game (which is saying a lot, because my copy of Alpha Sapphire has 600+ hours of playtime) and I have so many good memories of playing it in elementary school! So I voted for Gen 3, with 5 a close second and 2 behind right that.

I will always love GSC the most, HGSS are great remakes and I put hundreds of hours into my copy of HG alone.

I'm also pretty fond of gen 3 and gen 5, and I may be in the minority but I also genuinely enjoyed gen 8 despite its flaws.

i loved gold/silver. it was all the goodness of the original games, plus night and day pokemon for the 1st time, plus 2 new types added into the mix, bug catching contest, 2 continents and sets of gym leaders to play through... all for the 1st time :)

Gen 2 was my childhood favorite and I still enjoy playing through good old Johto now.

Other honorable mentions are
- gen 3 (FR/LG is the definitive way to play through gen 1 + they have the second best postgame of all the regions besides Johto)
- and gen 5 (I actually liked how they have you play through with only Unova Pokemon at first rather than littering every route with 90% gen 1 Pokemon, plus the animated sprites are really unique and cool + the music is the best in the entire series)

My first pokemon game was Pokemon X and I loved it!! The graphics were cool, I loved customizing my character, and I watched the cartoon (which I despised. I think the only season I liked was the Sinnoh and Unova ones). Xerneas was the most stunning Pokemon in my eyes lol

I played ORAS next, which more or less kicked X to the curb in regards to storyline and mechanics. I love the storyline and the dexNav became everything to me.

I played Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun. They were meh. I still haven't played the switch games because I don't have a switch :')

Now for the moment somebody's probably been waiting for... my favorite generation is... GEN 2!! I bought silver on my 3ds and everything about it was so much more of the Pokemon experience than the 3ds games. It was the old timey graphics and music and mechanics... I love it with all my heart!! It's difficult, yet fun and so so so rewarding!! I still haven't beat the elite 4 so I can't see much of Kanto other than Victory Road... but it's gotta be the most engaging and satisfying pokemon game I've ever played.

While I do really, really enjoy the original gen 1 games, i agree with you that firered/leafgreen did add a lot of quality of life improvements to kanto... so if i go replay them, i like to alternate between the originals and fr/lg.

I don't mind the originals, but it's really hard to go back to real gen 1 when all the Pokemon besides the ones the devs wanted you to use had cruddy movesets or were straight-up obnoxious to get. I love those gen 1 graphics, but man is it boring winding up in some variant of:
Charizard/Arcanine/Ninetales
Blastoise/Vaporeon/Lapras
Raichu/Jolteon/Zapdos
Venusaur/Vileplume/Victreebel
Pidgeot/Articuno
Kadabra (lol trading)/Hypno

Gen 3's updated movepools (not as good as they could be, but better than they were) are nice, and the new Pokemon in the Sevii islands made the Elite 4 round two battles interesting.

(not hating on your choice to go back and play it though, I'm just moreso angry that cool movesets from later gens came along and made all the weak, gimmicky ones from gens 1 and 2 look awful in comparison)

Gen 4 to be honest. It’s the generation I started Pokémon with and is what gave me my love for the series.

Gotta go with gen 6. They were my first games, and I love all of the gen 6 pokemon. But I love 7 and 8 a lot too!
