If I could move my resident services I would in a heartbeat. I don't even want to move it that far, really. Just a smidge more to the left (I think? Maybe to the right, I haven't got my game on my right now) since it's just a touch off centre. I notice it the most with my two flower beds I have in front of my airport - one has six columns for flowers but the other has seven and it bothers me every time I give it too much attention. I'll be forever bitter that Animal Crossing did this to me, lol. Why give me something almost perfect but not quite?? And my resident services is only a few steps from my airport so it's definitely noticeable.
Otherwise I'm okay with the placement! I see other people who have these really elaborate entries and I think they're gorgeous but I just haven't got the patience for it, lol. I'd love to have an arch coming right off the airport to walk under as you head onto my island but the size hasn't meshed well whenever I've tried.
i like where my resident services is quite a lot + a lot of my other buildings placements are reliant on where my resident services is. i do wish i could move my airport over just a teensy tiny bit just to make my paths line up better though.
I like where both the airport and Resident Services building are for the most part. I do wish that the Resident Services building was just a tiny bit to the right of where it currently is, like one or two spots or something like that, so that the dock leading from the airport would line up exactly with the entrance perfectly. It's close enough, but it will probably always be a thing in the back of my mind. Alas, there's no option to do anything about it. I have no intention of ever restarting the island because I've accomplished too much and catalogued too many things by this point, and if anything happened to the save, I'd simply stop playing the game in general. So yeah, just gotta live with it.
i don’t mind my building placement but i’d definitely still change it if i could - i’m making it work but with how close rs and the airport are to each other, i’ve struggled a bit with trying to make an entrance that i like.
I'm happy with my airport even though it's slightly off center. My resident services however, it's fine with the distance between the front beach and the building itself, but if it was a tiny smidge to the left or even the right, because as it is, it's right on the edge of the airport. I've been debating about doing a 3rd reshuffle of the island anyway, but part of me is like 'nooooo, remember the 2nd one, we said we'd never do it again!' but then the other part of me is like 'oh but there's so many pretty islands out there, and our is just kinda meh :L' :'D
My buildings are in a good spot, I restarted right near the beginning soon after the game came out (I can't even remember why? May have been to do with the buildings). My resident services is not centre of the map, but it's far enough back from my airport to fill the space in between nicely.
As for the airport placement, I didn't even consider this at all - I didn't know there was much variation available, i'll have to go google this now (potentially a bad idea when I see that my placement is trash in comparison to what is possible lol)
Despite popular opinion, I actually like having my RS and Airport close to each other. I like the idea that right when visitors get off the plane, the RS is right there in case they have any questions about the island and its scenery.
My resident service tent in right in front of my airport, and in the end, I hope the door of the final rs will be straight the pontoon. I don't know if I'm clear ? It's pretty close too, but we'll see! It will be interesting to interact with that and decorate!
Yes! Along with fruit, airport colour and large rocks the positions of the unmovable buildings were things I took into consideration when map hunting. I knew I wanted a decent amount of space between Resident Services and the airport but contrary to many of the above posters I did NOT want them anywhere close to being lined up together, and they are not. Winding, natural pathways will always beat symmetry for me ^^
I reset a bunch of times just to get pears and a green airport and by the time i had gotten it i stopped caring about the placement of the buildings, i just really wanted to play
I'm happy with my building placement. However I would like to place down some more buildings, such as a gardening shop, Katrina, and most importantly, coffee shop!
I didn't know that the airport's position could change. Mine suits me, and the position of the plaza too. Indeed, it is behind and a good distance from the airport, so not perfectly (or almost) centered if on the left side. It's on the right, then. I didn't think I would like such a position, but I do and it suits me perfectly.
I think as long as my airport and resident services are close to one another I will be fine. My old island had them close together so it was a habit and made it easier for me. I want that easy access again.
My Resident Services building would've been perfect on my main island (Wahu) had it been centered with the airport's entrance. Instead, it's offset to the left. I managed to get an island with a centered Resident Services on my other backup island (Parkwood) on my old Switch, and have been building around its placement. I've got OCD, so of course when I found out RS could be in vastly different spots, it kind of annoyed me how I settled with where mine was.
I think my airport placement is fine, but if I could push Resident Services a bit further back from the beach, I would. Judging from the map selection I thought I'd have enough room (and I didn't want it too far back on my island either), but when it comes to actually decorating I feel like it's a bit cramped. ;u; I basically only ever approach it from the side and not the front, and when I try to decorate the front I'm basically right at the beach before long, so the placement feels very awkward for what I'd like to do with it.
I'm not super happy with where my services is at, since it's so close to the airport and the beach, but I have an idea on how I can make it work! If I could move it though, I would!
