What are your favorite / best games that don't get talked about much or were really underrated for Switch?

Some smaller-time games I really liked were Road 96 and Windbound! I bought the both of them on sale and I remember seeing them on sale quite a bit before I bought them, so you can probably get them on sale from the eshop too eventually!

Road 96 is an absolute blast; it's a coming-of-age political thriller game about runaway teens in a dystopia trying to cross the border into the next country over in the middle of a tumultuous election. You play as one of the nameless faceless kids running into a ragtag cast of characters, (some silly, some helpful, some outright dangerous), and you make choices and collect items and cash in order to get across. There's a karma system; which can help you along other runs (sometimes you make it, other times you might not) along the way by making it easier to find money in trash cans or make it more likely to find keys to an abandoned car. It gets really heavy and emotional at times which I thought made it stellar. There's a running narrative in the game and you can decide if you want to step in and help or watch passively. There's also many different endings you can achieve depending on how much you help out. AND!! The whole game is procedurally generated; so not a single run ever feels the same. The game is gorgeous, and the sunrise/sunset scenes are so pretty.

Windbound is a Breath of the Wild clone but I really like it! The early stages are difficult, but once you figure out the mechanics I was having a lot of fun! You can build and upgrade your boat and you actually have to learn how to sail (like understand the real world physics of it) in order to travel, which I thought was really cool. The scenery was really pretty, and I liked how focused on the world's mythology it was. Highly recommend it! (I hate gorehorns though, lol. What a pain.)

Never heard of either of those but both sound pretty interesting, thanks for sharing!!

Not nintendo, but some less spoken about games I've really enjoyed on the switch are Wandersong and A short hike!
Both are decently short, the latter especially so, but I really enjoyed them! Both are more chill games, a short hike being more just exploring and wandering around, whereas wandersong is more of a puzzle rpg, where you play as a bard and complete the levels/fight by playing the right notes. Funny with a good story (at least I personally enjoyed it!)

In terms of more popular games that I still don't see talked about as much, I really enjoyed Rayman legends for the switch if you enjoy platformers- I thought it felt good to control and there was a good dispersion on difficulty of levels, some I did first try whereas others I had to sit there for over 30 minutes redoing to get it right!

i’ve found a few games through random sales throughout the years.

1. pizza parking is a simple but hilariously frustrating game where you have to park your car in some wild arrangements.

2. tiny lands is a spot the difference game in 3d which i find really soothing and relaxing.

3. inbento is a fun lil puzzle game that has you create bentos in specific arrangements. has lots of interesting rules and mechanics that kept me engaged for a decent chunk.

4. taiko no tatsujin: drum n’ fun! is a wonderful arcade/rhythm game that i enjoyed tons :)

hope these help!

I'm not sure if this is considered a hidden gem, as it's one of the most popular franchises in Japan. However I never see anyone mention it elsewhere, especially in the US. Nonetheless, I can't recommend the Dragon Quest series high enough. The newest entry 11 is on the Switch and was one of the best games I've played. 3 was remade last year for the Switch, and the remakes of 1 and 2 were shown first in the latest Direct. Can't wait to play 1-3 very soon!
