Nintendo Direct 3/27/25

I try and keep my expectations low for these things so I can be pleasantly surprised. I agree that they’ve got to save up some announcements for Switch 2, so there will probably fewer new games in development right now to announce. Ports seem like a good bet though, and I’d love to play some older Zelda games on my Switch!
Also, I am excited to actually be free to watch it live this time!

ETA: Oh! Also, I’d love to hear more about the Nintendo World in San Francisco!!

As expected, Pokémon would rather give new meaningful news in their own trailers. Anyway, night royales in ZA at least confirm that these games are more battle-centric than Arceus. Thats a plus I guess. The next Pokémon Presents should offer more new content and hopefully new Mega reveals.

My personal top 3 of the direct:
1. Legends Z-A
2. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
3. Tamagotchi Plaza

Not many stuck out to me this time but those did. Tamagotchi Plaza seems like a nice laidback AC-like game that I could play to unwind. Very disappointed with the ZA info but its expected now 😤

You GUYS!!!! They heard me!!!

thank you justin for making rhythm haven possible!! 🙏🙏

also the direct was.... whelming (like not over or under???? if u get me), though i understand theyre saving other exciting things for switch 2!! got kinda hyped with Pokemon Z-A having a day and night mode, it does make things a lot more interesting :] hmm graphics-wise im still kinda iffy, and im sad mawile and audino have not been showcased still (bring them back Nintendo!!!), but otherwise im still getting the game :) the return of furfrou!!!! i can have a shiny black furfrou and design her all i want!! 🥹

the tamagotchi game looks insanely cute! i am also excited for that one. and of course tomodachi life!!! ive heard it's a really really fun game, havent tried it out myself but im excited to experience it on the switch. ^^

Gotta say that I didn't have a remaster of Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army on my metaphorical Bingo card, but hell yeah. Here I sought out and bought PS2 copies of the original version, as well as Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, a few years ago. But hey, it looks great, gameplay looks to be improved, and it gives more people an opportunity to play it, so cool by me. I'll probably grab a copy of this remaster eventually.

I've been slowly getting more into the Dragon Quest series, so the teaser for Dragon Quest 1+2 HD-2D Remake was neat, though not unexpected. I'll have to pick up copies of that, as well as the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, later this year.

I really ought to explore more Metroid games aside from Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime Beyond looked good. Saw some people I know who were excited by this one.

I liked what they showed from Pokémon Legends Z-A, looking good.

I like JRPGs, and the SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered game looked all right. Might look more into it and possibly get it eventually.

I like side-scrolling beat 'em ups and Marvel Cosmic Invasion looked all right. I'm not really into superhero media, but I'd probably have fun playing it.

Never played and don't really have interest in Rhythm Heaven of Tomodachi Life, but I'm happy for those who like those series. I know I've seen people on here who have wanted another Tomodachi Life game.

The Virtual Game Cards thing is cool but kind of wild to add so late into the Switch's lifespan. Good for those who might get use out of the functionality though.

Overall, I thought this was a solid Nintendo Direct.

I personally thought it was great. The New Rhythm Heaven AND Tomodachi Life games made me feel like I reached nirvana or something. I'm a bit disappointed that Rhythm Heaven Groove is still a year away, but it's still very exciting! And I'm very glad that they're sticking with the stupid AI voices for Tomodachi Life 2. But, didn't find anything else in the Direct too interesting except for Prime 4 and the Digital Game Card thing.

Tomodachi Life. There can I have sparkly water? Lol

Seriously though, I've never played Tomodachi Life so I am a little hesitant if it will be worth it to buy it. I might be tempted if the reviews say its good but idk. The Switch games are so expensive now for me.
