I can’t stand most dogs. They stink, they slobber, they shove their nose in your crotch, they’re loud, they’re destructive. I just don’t understand the appeal. Although I can usually tolerate small dogs because at least they won’t knock you over when they greet you with a body slam.
I love cats though. They’re sweet and polite and cuddly.

dogs!! they provide you with cuddles, make you happ and got the floof

also you can teach them stuff (eg rolling over which is omega cute), idk if that's possible with cattos but i'm presuming it's easier w/ doggos. also tail-wagging!! cute

the body slam and slobbering is basically part of the experience

I've always had a dog and once really disliked cats. Then I got a cat and realized how amazing they are. Now I adore cats. Both 😊 Too hard to choose.

I have 2 cats and a dog. It depends what you're looking for in a pet I think. Cats are by far the easiest pets to care for (yes, even easier than goldfish) if you train them to go to the toilet outside. They're way more independent than other pets and just kinda do their own thing and don't need constant attention. Dogs are more intense, but they're far more eager to please and genuinely worship their owners. I like that you can take dogs around with you and even travel with them. I also like that my dog is intimidating cos it means I feel safer. Not all dogs are though.

Ultimately, despite being a cat owner for far longer, I have definitely become more of a dog person and now will never be without. One day I will have a whole pack and live in the woods haha

i dont think either is better than the other but i prefer dogs since i'm allergic to cats. still think they're cute and i wish i could experience what it's like to live with one lol

I love both of them because they are adorable! I used to have a fear of dogs when I was a kid, but I overcame it thanks to my sister and family's dog. I want a cat, but my sister is allergic to it.

I like both just fine, but I’m much more suited to cats. I‘m not energetic/excited enough for many dogs, I was lucky to end up with one who’s more laid-back overall. I couldn’t have a small dog myself, though, because the higher-pitched barking is too hard on my ears.

i absolutely love both, but i have two cats so i'm definitely more biased towards them!

defo cats!

i feel like i wouldnt mind small dogs too much, but im terrified of large dogs because it's way too easy for them to unintentionally harm you (tackling you, scratching u with their claws, whipping you with their tails lmao) and i am,,, fragile. i also wouldnt like taking them outside and then having them get germs all over me. i live in a not very clean city (even if it were clean, i still wouldnt like it. yes i know cats probably touch their own poop in their litterboxes. shut.). there's also the fact that most dogs i've encountered eventually went on to ignore me because i have basically no energy askdjsfdjsj. i cant do the whole "who's a good boy!!" excited baby talk 😭

i like cats because they're quiet and they don't require so much 'active' attention. you can just sit next to each other and That's Bonding. incredible. their body language is also way easier for me to read than dogs'. i find the tsundere (sorry that's the only world i can think of) attitude some of them have very funny and appealing, and it makes the looks they give you when they love you all the more heartwarming ❤

in any case, they're both equally sweet and expressive! i'd love to befriend one if i ever get over my allergies

I have a cat AND a dog.

I love cats. My boy is very cuddly, always making biscuits and warming right up to new people. He’s earned himself the nickname “purr monster”
However, he did just bat me in my eye for “no reason” (reason: he wanted attention) a few moments ago while i was typing on the forums and ignoring him. Very clingy

It feels unfair to compare him to my dog. I’ve written about her before on the forums. She’s a bit elderly now, almost 12 years old. She likes to follow me around and hide under the covers and snuggle up next to me while she sleeps most of the day. She’s also losing her eyesight, so she growls at anything that moves, though she’s never bitten.

I’d say dogs are actually less mess than cats since you can take them outside and they don’t require large toys inside the house. They also don’t jump on every surface you own, knocking over things and getting cat hair everywhere. Though...My dog doesn’t shed, so there’s that!

Cats. Here's why.

I think both make for great pets. Some of the comments here why one is better than the other can be boiled down to case by case or a pet that hasn't been properly trained.

I originally voted in favor of cats, because I am more of a cat person, but I just changed my vote to both. while I love cats to death, I have to appreciate the companionship that a dog provides. I'd never had my own dog until I got my golden retriever almost two years ago and now he's my best friend and we are inseparable.

I think it really depends on what you look for in a pet. if you want a companion who will do everything with you and can't stop showing their love for you then a dog is great, but if you just want a roommate who likes to keep their distance but acts really cute and shows affection through weird vibrations and kneading, then cats are better. I love both ^^

cats are great, all of mine are very loving but they can also have an attitude and they don't listen too well. but I just can't resist their little murder mittens and their toe beans and their head boops :3

the only thing I really have against dogs is that many of them bark nonstop (I can't handle loud sudden noises, I trained my dog to only bark on command) and also lick people (again I trained my dog not to lick me). I'm also somewhat more in favor of big dogs with medium/long hair like Goldens, Poodles, Newfoundlands, etc. I love yorkies and poms but I think my next dog will prob be another big one. idk small dogs just kinda irk me lol.

Wow, a lot of other people here also prefer cats! I guess it fits.

I'm definitely a cat person. I like volunteering at cat shelters, walking around to find stray cats/cats in people's windows, etc.

My parents have a cat too who I love!

Being at the shelter really taught me how different each cat is from one another, there was such a range in personalities and behaviors. People who say that cats aren't as openly affectionate/needy as dogs have not met the cats I know!!

I think small dogs are super cute and like seeing them on walks but that's partly because they resemble cats haha

Dogs by a landslide, for me. I really don’t like cats. I’m just that dog lover that dislikes cats.

I personally choose both! They're just so cute AAAAA
