Did you reset your village until you got starting villagers you wanted?

I kind of wish I had now, having found out how much of a bother it apparently is to get villagers in this game. There was one island that had the Sisterly/Uchi villager I wanted while I was in the middle of resetting, but I passed it up because I wasn't happy enough with the airport/airplane color or the starting fruit. I've unlocked too many good items to want to bother restarting, so I'm just going to live with it, but there is that tinge of regret.

No, but I did get really unlucky and got my least favorite Uchi (Canberra) the first time, so I reset and got Cherry and Snake as my starting villagers. I would have LOVED to get Sylvia, but since I just wanted to play and not spend hours resetting, all asked for was a decent layout and decent villagers. Besides, there are other methods of getting dreamies.

No, I went into the game having decided in advance to not reset for villagers unless I disliked both of them. I looked through all available options, saw that a good portion were acceptable, and made that promise to myself. It worked out really well!

I think there are some advantages to not starting with a favorite:

1. It's been really fun getting to appreciate villagers I'd never considered much before, and I definitely feel a special attachment because they just arrived on the Island with me, not by my choice specifically

2. Unless you know for certain which exact 10 villagers you want in the end (I didn't) it can actually suck to start with one of your favorites—because it'll be very hard to let them go once you have them!
That was an issue I ran into with my Island Tour villagers: I met and invited Lolly, a favorite, even though I knew I'd rather have a different Normal later on. Now I'm so attached to her though that I don't know if I'll be able to let her leave eventually haha

All that aside, the obvious advantage is not wasting more of your time than necessary. If having certain starters might ruin your experience, it's worth trying for others/favorites whatever. If you can make due for a while, or think you could grow to like them, I'd recommend that every time!

I didn't reset but I wish I had, I don't like any of my villagers.

Nope. I only reset for pears.

My starters ended up being Buck and Fuchsia and I'm okay with that.

Ugh I wish I had restarted, I got Hazel and Bud as my two starting villagers and I really can't stand either of them. Now that I have more villagers on my island I'm just going to ignore those two until they move.... I didn't restart because I got peaches as my native fruit which I was really excited about, but now I'm wondering if it was worth it haha.
