I bought the game in January (I now have 800 hrs in the game)….bought the middle tier on sale for $34 reg $49. Honestly I had only been playing a short time when I wished I had bought the premium tier. AND once you buy one of the three tiers, there is no going back. You can’t upgrade to the next tier. People say “I’m waiting until the game Is free to play” Here is my take on that. In essence what you are paying for is not the “play” but the Moonstones. And even when it’s ftp you’re going to need to buy moonstones if you want to have the same purchasing power for “goodies” and they will cost the same. Or actually I think it’s a bit better deal with cost of game now with number of moonstones. Also, there is a LOT of items players are getting now that will never (so they say) be available again. Anyway in short, if you think you might enjoy this game at all, I say buy it. I became obsessed with it. And in fact that is what made me finally buy ACNH. DDLV vs ACNH: both games have strengths and weakness. Those who have played ACNH will love the ability to rotate you environment 360….something that is driving me crazy in ACNH. But DDLV does not have near the items with interactive ability that ACNH has. But remember, this game is still in the build mode so I imagine there is a lot to come. Keep in mind since it will be ftp, developers are planning periodic DLC to buy. So eventually you will have money invested in the game ftp or not. I love, love DDLV. I’m loving ACNH now, lol!
thanks. i bought the game less than a month after it came out. I ended up getting the ultimate pack specifically for the moonstones like you said. i felt as you do that it was better to get the large amount now because i have no intention of buying them down the line. the only things i have spent them on is the star paths and the cottage skin in the premium shop(nothing else has seemed worth the asking price to me). Not sure the cottage really was either tbh. i tend to hoard my moonstones lol. i have played ac since the gamecube version and i love it, my favorite game. thanks for the reply and the info.

I’ve been wanting to get into this game for so long, is it worth it??? I may pick it up once I finish my semester.

I guess that depends on what sort of games you like if it would be worth it or not to you. I personally am very happy with the price I paid ( just the basic one ) but if you're unsure it is also going to be released free if you don't mind waiting : )

I got the Ultimate package when it was on sale. Lots of nifty Disney items and Moonstones come with it. I love the game and it has many fun things to do. Gets regular updates too. The constant crashes are annoying though. Also it is VERY fussy about time travel of any kind that you do on your Switch. Time travel can ruin your save if you're unlucky. I stopped doing tt on ACNH altogether, just in case. It's inconvenient but not deal breaking to me.

Sadly time travel is a big no no when it comes to Dreamlight Valley. However the roadmap for the game hints (through speculation) that there is a small possibility that time travel of some sorts could be implemented to help players complete quests and gain all the companions if they can only play for small amounts at a time.

"Wonder of Pixar Star Path" coming soon...

I play during the day on the weekends if I remember. Tears of the Kingdom has my main focus right now.

Hmm...I like those red panda statues. - I'm always looking for items to help tie the areas together, and I think those would probably look good on the beach somewhere. Or maybe even the sunlit plateau.

Hope there's a bunch of better stuff than what's shown there, though. Most of that does nothing for me.

I’m definitely buying the premium path to get all of the items. This event seems really fun and I really do love that red bird!

You know, I always thought it was extremely odd that Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora and characters from their respective movies were missing from the game considering they’re the cornerstone of Disney Princesses and the entire Disney universe itself since the 90s. Cinderella‘s Castle has been part of the Disney logo since the 80s and how do you not include her especially since she’s the most popular out of the original three Princesses?

Spent a considerable amount of time with the update. Great to have new stuff to do...but, I haven't been all that excited about any of the actual content. Feels like the star paths are more and more bloated with logos and designs, and less actual items.

I wish the Star Path wasn't so difficult to complete - there is a lot of items I would like. Specifically the Red panda onesie and Nemo fish tank. But I'm happy with the non-premuim items too!

I just buy $25 worth of Moonstones and exchange them for Tickets.

I don't find the star paths to be difficult...just time consuming.

If you only spend moonstones to unlock the premium paths...and don't spend them on other things, you should always have enough to keep doing that every time there is a new star path. So...I never spend a dime on these things. - I unlock premium, then I grind away at the tasks, which are usually pretty straight forward. (There are always one or two tasks that take forever to finish - usually something like "mine 10 peridot" or something incredibly specific that the game refuses to actually provide the resources for). Lol.

But, yeah...I don't think the paths are hard. Just a bit of a grind. - If you do things in a very deliberate and planned way, the paths are pretty straight forward, and getting everything you want will begin to come more naturally. - Also, I usually don't want 3/4 of the stuff anyway. - I will do the bare minimum to keep unlocking the higher tiers, only spending points on the things I actually want...then I will go back and unlock the pointless things at the end. There has never been a single star path that I have not completed 100% by doing this. - Prioritizing big items and exchanging points for additional moonstones first...then coming back and getting the things like designs and clothes that I know I will never use. - In fact, there have been times when I said "I'm not actually gonna use this stuff...I might as well save my moonstones." - Only to come back and finish the path anyway, just out of sheer boredom. Lol

I bought the Star Path twice - both times I was unable to complete it and I will never buy it again because it's a waste of money if I can't complete the whole thing and / or get the items I want. It just doesn't work for me and how I play, but I know lots of other people don't have any issues with it! 💙

Got a weird glitch earlier.

The splash screen from the main screen that has the title of the game never fully went away when the game loaded. It loaded in, and that screen was transparent over the gameplay. It was really odd. - But I backed out of the game and reloaded, and it went away, no problems. Just a new one for me...

Put literally about 4 hours into village layout today...and I can finally say that I am happy with almost every biome. Just have small details to iron out...and of course, constantly hunting for new and better items.

Also...I just finished the new quests from the update:

I was not expecting such a definitive conclusion with credits and everything. As much as I love finally having all the little things resolved, including the skull island surprise at the end, I'm also slightly concerned that this might already signal the end of the big updates. I don't know. Like...I saw the tease for Jaffar...but, now that the main village areas are in a sense "finished"...I wonder how they keep expanding.

I finished chapter one of the game last night and I really enjoyed it, my only gripe is that I can only play in the evenings at the moment and the Fairy Godmother sleeps from 6pm to 10pm so I can't level up her friendship and gain access to some of her exclusive gifts.

oof, been a while since i commented here, but-

played the update for a few days now, and it's. mid-tier? micro-transactions are one thing, but the price of wall-e's quest, as most people online seem to agree, is pretty egregious. (as are most prices in the premium shop, but.) especially since it turns out they said this game would be completely free (well, after the initial purchase) until after early-access. i haven't completed the main story yet, but hearing that it apparently already concludes with this update feels a bit. fast? makes me wonder what they're going to do next for it, since i think the forgotten stuff had too much potential to be concluded this early.

the main thing i loved this update are the mannequins, but even they're a bit buggy rip. i changed into an outfit on one of them, and it turned my skirt from beige to. black asdfghj. the little red dot in scrooge's shop indicating whether or not you already own something is cool and long overdue, too, but i hear that's also buggy for some people. i was really looking forward to an increased item limit but, of course, it's not an option for me because i play on switch : )) my game already crashes multiple times a session, which is probably the fault of said hardware anyway, but i generally don't lag in-game because of the item limit (and i'm already almost at max), the crashes always happen after doing something quest-related or coming out of a menu/inventory. when the game does eventually go F2P, i might get it on my laptop and see if it runs okay there, then switch over for the item increase. (though, go figure, moonstones don't transfer over.) makes me wonder how they're going to swing multiplayer if other platforms can have item increases and the switch can't. it also kind of sucks because, yes, the switch is generally mediocre, and that's not necessarily gameloft's fault, but it also means i paid the same price for this game as people who can now get more out of it in the decorating sense. (and also in terms of performance imo.)

the ability to customize furniture is cool, too! especially the rugs, since there are so few in the game. unfortunately, the design tools are... frustrating, to put it mildly, on console, and i envy pc players who can make gorgeous things. (the clothing designer also just has a whole host of glitches for me rip.) definitely waiting/hoping for design sharing a la animal crossing, so i can use some of the gorgeous dresses and outfits i've seen people create, especially as someone who already owns all the clothes in the game. the path borders were another thing i was looking forward to that, sadly, turned out to be. bad. it requires you to remake all your paths from scratch if you want them to have borders, and apparently they're super finicky to place down anyway and generally don't line up. i was hoping for something you could overlay, but alas. maybe they'll change that in the future, but i'm not too hopeful. for now i'll stick to rock borders asdfghjk.

anyway, not sure how many people know about the secret side-quest that they've been adding each update since the start, but since the final reward is super cute and fitting for pride month, here's a guide from the reddit. i've been doing it for a couple of updates now, and i wish some of the actual quests were more like it tbh. haven't got the final prize yet since i haven't completed the main storyline, but 👀 hopefully soon.
