I like surprises, so I let the game decide a few times. I got Rex, Hopper and Amelia. I wasn't too happy about Amelia, but she has grown on me, so she stays. I have a hard time letting villagers go. I wish I could, because there are so many that I would love to have. When the ones i'm not as crazy about ask to leave, i think " now's my chance", but I just can't do it. I love Ketchup, and have her amiibo, but she will probably never get to live in my town. It's so silly.

I want to let the game randomly choose, cause I like the idea of being pushed into experiencing a villager I would not otherwise invite, but I really really love island hopping!

(This is also the reason I have over a hundred amiibo cards and have only ever used one. and that was only so I could move out a villager I wanted to give to a friend)

No, I got rid of the random one which I had lol. Game moved in the last villager, because I didn't have too much time for playing this day. It was hard to move him out of my island, so I used the amiibo to get rid of him.

i used to be big into hunting for my dreamies, but now i've started leaning towards letting the game give me random villagers about 50% of the time! i find that i like the cycle of meeting new villagers, collecting their photos, then moving on to find a new friend! the first time i did this, the game gave me rodney LOL so i do still go out hunting sometimes.

Yup. I’m too lazy to create themed islands, so I mostly go with the flow. Luckily, this game has been nice to me when it comes to random move ins. Chrissy was my second peppy, and Ken (who I was hoping to get) was my first smug.

Only three villagers were intentionally brought in: Francine, Graham, and Merengue. Although Merengue was more of a spur of the moment decision.

Sometimes, I let the game decide, but only if I don't have the time or mood to search for a certain villager. So far, I always got someone else's voided villager. Last time it was Whitney and Gruff, both coming from different islands and while I like them, I'm planning to not keep them. It's kinda interesting to see what villagers you get, however I'm going on villager hunting myself again since I'm still looking for three of my dreamies.

I did once by accident let in a random villager - while Big Top isn't too bad he wasn't my first choice + he left pretty quickly. generally I prefer to have at least a little bit of say in which villagers I move in, but when it comes to island hopping i often settle for villagers i wouldn't have otherwise sought out just to have some variety

I very rarely let the game move a villager in, usually it only happens when I’ve missed the game change to the next day and the plot has sold or if I’ve run out of NMTs. On a couple of occasions it’s moved in a good villager, like Murphy who I liked, but mostly it’s villagers that I want to get rid off but then it takes forever for them to want to move.

Usually I’ll just go island hopping for my villagers, mainly so I can make sure I get one that I want but also because I actually quite like island hopping for them. Always check the campsite when anyone is staying but more often then not it’s a villager I’m not interested in.

I used not to but with the better graphics and slight tweaks to some of the villagers, there honestly isn't a single one that I don't like! As such, I really enjoy letting the game decide which villager gets to move onto my island next and saves me the stress of lengthy searches for specific villagers. I have really enjoyed the variety and most of my permanent villagers are ones that I let randomly move in.

No, but there were a few times I got lucky with it and got Ankha and Frank. But the two problems are:

1: I don’t like Ankha as much, the reason is too personal,at least I traded her for a profit.

2: While I do like Frank, he was at the wrong island as I didn’t have a 2nd island yet so I sadly voided him.

I don't really like it when I let a random villager in because since I play online, it'll just be a voided villager, which usually means they are unwanted.

It turned out that my first five villagers were villagers that the game "decided" for me. I didn't reset for my starters, Scoot and Ursala, and I ended up with them when I was resetting for cherries/orange airport. After that I went with the very first mystery island villager I saw, Jambette. The next two, Erik and Tabby, were two random villagers the tutorial plots decided for me because I accidentally built their furnitures too soon before I was able to hunt for new villagers. It worked out well though because I love all my first five villagers and they are still with me a year later. The only "random" villager I didn't like was my first camper, Quillson. I actually grew to like him eventually but his house exterior was so bad that I decided to move Ken in using my amiibo card.

I used to but I don't anymore. I want who I want in my town and I've spent far more than I'd like to admit on getting all the amiibo cards so I'm gonna use them!

For me, there's really no point. The only reason I'd do it is to be surprised, but chances are I'm going to end up with a voided villager I already know from a friend's island, so that negates the surprise element 🤷‍♀️ I also don't like ending up with too many of the same personality or species, though I'm not super controlling - I don't really use amiibos, and I really love island hopping for new villagers. I like the mystery of who I might meet, and don't like missing out on that if I can help it!

I haven't done it since the first move-ins where you build the three houses and random villagers move in. I didn't know back then that you could go on a hunt and actually circumvent the random move in process for that so that was the one and only time I allowed the game to decide after my starters. If I remember correctly I got Merengue, Mint, and *shudders* Anchovy, my mortal enemy. I don't trust my game enough to pick anymore villagers, haha.

A lot of times I let the void choose, since most of the villagers that show up from the void are villagers I flushed from either one of my towns. I dont mind them. I actually got back Bianca that way, which Im happy about because I regretted voiding her in the first place. The first time I let RNGsus choose, I got Judy. Then again, I also got Chops who I couldn't stand.

honestly, the only time i’ve let that happen is back at the beginning with my starter normal, peppy and lazy villagers 🤣. there’s too many villagers that i hope to experience + i love island hopping too much for random villagers atm. :’)

It's only happened once, because it was early in the game and I'd run out of NM for tickets and all the chores to earn more were ones I couldn't do for one reason or another. At first I was really upset getting Soleil, but now I totally love her. But I don't think I'd let the game do it again, I think I got lucky and there just are too many villagers I wouldn't like. I got close though during my last island tour. I was nearly out of NMT and was completely out of NM and there was no one I liked in the New Neighbor Network. I was debating on what to do when I found Melba and asked her to move in.

No. I plan out all of my residents in Animal Crossing games and purposefully acquire them in particular. Sometimes a resident will lose their appeal after being a resident for a long time, and/or sometimes an animal that I didn't really consider before suddenly strikes my interest and I'll decide to replace someone, but even when that happens I purposefully acquire a specific animal of my choosing. My towns (New Leaf) and island (New Horizons) all have themes that they're based around and the residents represent those themes. As such, random chance holds no appeal for me.
