Do you like your real name?

I don't hate it but others find it weird (it's extremely uncommon in my area, which is an area that's predominantly white) so tbh I'm a bit insecure abt it LOL

it was apparently the most common birth name for guys for years but i haven't known many others with it so i like it

My name is kind of odd to be honest (I go by a more common, similar name with most people because no one pronounces it correctly, and I've been laughed at and mocked before because of my name), and I used to hate it when I was younger, but I actually really love it now! The reasoning for why I was given it especially is dear to my heart, and I would love to get more comfortable putting my foot down about people actually using my name instead of the other similar version I've had to use.

I never really use or share my actual name online, just because I've never been super comfortable doing that because I was raised in the "never share any personal real life details or you'll die" sort of internet safety. xD So I tend to go by nicknames based off former usernames or just different names I've gotten attached to over the years. ^^

I actually dislike my first and second name, my dad has always been "edgy" so he made my name absolutely uncommon (at least where I live) and hard to spell AND pronounce. I will have people misspelling my name on facebook when my name is right there in my profile, and I'll have teachers mispronounce my name in class constantly. I've gotten so used to it that I don't bother correcting people anyone, it's become a chore more than anything. I don't connect to my name at all. The only reason I don't say this out loud is because despite my dad's weird antics, I still love him.

I forgot to mention but another reason why I hate my real name is because of its meaning. As a kid we were tasked to search the meaning of our names and my classmates all got good ones like it meant hope, love, joy, etc. and when I searched mine, google literally pulled out the words "sad; depressing". I was so sad. :(

I dislike my name (Sarah) only because it's extremely common. I grew up knowing many Sarahs at my school and I always wished I had a cooler more "unique" name. I also have always wanted a name that you can make a nickname out of, since theres really not much you can do with "Sarah" lol.

I’d definitely change my last name. I go by my first and middle because my last name is real bad. 😖 If it wasn’t so much trouble I likely would’ve changed it by now.

I also have always wanted a name that you can make a nickname out of, since theres really not much you can do with "Sarah" lol.
My girl’s name is actually Sarah and I call her Sar-bear (pronounced like Sare-bear obviously). She eats it right up. 😅 but you’re right, nicknames are fun.

Chris is short for Christian (not Christopher, as people typically assume!). I very much like it - but I also chose it. I've changed my name several times over the years, but this is the one that ultimately stuck.

The name my parents gave me has been dead and buried for coming up 20 years and it can stay right where it is.

Nah, I decided I don't like my name. But if I changed it, I probably wouldn't like that either. I know why but I don't feel like explaining.

My first name is fine. I like it. Very common, and relatively easy to spell (with only one variation I know which requires only a very quick correction every once in a while). My last name, however, is rare and can be annoying to describe and correct.

I do! It's funny to watch people pick a spelling of it since there are so many variations.

Not really. It's "Wee Boon" (a romanization of my Chinese name), which literally means in English "small luck."

And yeah, I've pretty much felt like Hard Luck Harry all my life, so that name certainly didn't help...

My name is a classic. It’s pretty and goes with my middle name. It’s common but my last name basically doesn’t exist in USA so it balances out

Not particularly and nobody calls me by it anyway, not even my family. I'm known by at least 3 abbreviated versions, most with the letters from the start on the name, but also at least one with the last 3 letters. It's not a particularly common name, but more common in the uk than anywhere else I guess. Never liked it much, though I was named after a Beatles reference which is cool.

I choose an alias because I like to kinda keep my real name private to those I only trust and know in person (like colleagues, family members, friends, etc.). I love the name Mimi. I almost wish that could be my real name. I'd love to bury away my real name and be called Mimi forever, but I think a part of me would miss my real name after a while... ^^;;

Only the real ones know my real name xD Well, it's actually common knowledge if you do some digging on my profile. It's Melanie. I love how it goes with my middle name(s). Elizabeth-Anne.

been a bit iffy about my name, or my birth name ig
always saw it as being too feminine but then I suddenly began seeing a bunch of genderqueer people and dudes with it so I guess that lessened my discomfort around it, but I've been trying new ones ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: Oh **** wait I posted in this already 💀

I kinda like my name since I was named after one of the saints in my religion, but other than that, I don’t think much about it since it’s just a regular name that’s used by other people.

No, not really. I don't really like my real name because I feel different? Mostly because how it pronounced. My name is pronounced like the English alphabet, but I'm not English and the way we pronounced the alphabet is really different than English. It's always bothers me the fact that people (especially my teachers) always mispronounce my name.

I only dislike it by 80% though

That depends. I hate my legal name, but I usually don't go by it anymore. I like the name Madison since I kind of chose it myself.

Its eh :/
I had a few classmates with the same name (for short) and it was tedious, but then again my full first name is actually different, its just how you say it for short.
