I'm currently learning Italian. I took it in college for awhile but am now self teaching since I'm not in college at the moment (my native language is English) Eventually I'd like to learn Japanese as well.
Native English speaker. My mother’s side of the family is Italian so I used to be decent at Italian but I haven’t had any opportunities to use it in over a decade so I’m not confident in my ability these days. I live in Germany now but my German is not very good. I am trying but my concentration is abysmal due to my mental illness. I enjoy Korean music and dramas and I’ve picked up some Korean over the years but I’m certainly not anything close to being fluent.
My first language is French and my second language is English. I’d say that I speak, read and write both languages relatively well! I’ve learned Spanish during high school and practiced a bit of my reading comprehension for my research, but I’m nowhere near fluent! xD I know basic Vietnamese, as I communicate in Vietnamese with my parents. Lately, I’ve improved by watching dubbed shows with my mom and by acting as a translator for her when watching non-dubbed shows.
I speak English and Filipino. English when I'm online, Filipino when I'm talking to people IRL. I preferably use English when writing and Filipino when I'm speaking. I know of a third native language as well but rarely use it outside my home town; not super fluent with it since there are some words I don't know but I can carry out conversations. Basically I'm trilingual!
I've been trying to learn Japanese for the longest time but keep on slacking.
I speak Spanish and English and know very little Japanese but only writing. I would like to learn Korean one day but I feel weird having and accent so only if I can speak it and write it properly.
I do! My mother tongue is italian, I have always loved and studied with passion english, and I consider it to be my second language (I'm a level B2, working on being C1), then I've been studying spanish for almost 7 years and then, 3 years ago, I started studying chinese at high school (love it, even though it's really challenging and remembering all those characters is really difficult). I also love french and german, but I never get a chance to practice them)
My first language is Brazilian Portuguese. I’ve started learning English when I was around 9 years old and French when I got older but I still study it until today. As an adult, I’ve learned a bit of Spanish too.
I only speak English, but in high school I learned French (I wish I learned Spanish instead or we had more languages offered). College I took some language courses but didn’t retain anything because either the students got the teacher distracted so we got no homework and I was too shy to participate or ask for help, or the teacher’s accent was too thick to understand. I took a Japanese class (teacher’s accent was too thick), Arabic (students wanted to goof off since most knew the language already), and a Chinese class. I’d still love to learn Arabic and Japanese and maybe one day travel if I have a lot of money and overcome my fear of leaving home (and general anxiety).
My first language is English. My parents are from Afghanistan, and I learned to speak Farsi when I moved to California and I learned it from my relatives living here who speak Farsi fluently. This language is also spoken in Iran and Tajikistan, and it's an easy language to learn. I learned German in high school and I'm currently taking French classes at college. I can speak some Hindi too because my mom loves Bollywood movies and I've watched them since childhood. Plus a lot of my coworkers are Indian so I practice speaking Hindi with them. I also want to learn Turkish because I like Turkish dramas and culture. I also want to travel to some countries around the world, and this motivates me to learn languages.
English is my first language, being born and raised in the uk. We're usually encouraged to learn a second European language early on and I chose French, mainly because I did ballet, which is largely taught in French, so it seemed the easiest option. I am only semi-fluent. When I go to France or even some parts of Canada I will communicate in French if necessary. Spanish is quite similar, so I can understand a little of it, but I am not a confident Spanish speaker. I am moderately deaf and rely on lip reading a lot, which makes slang and dialect a little hard to understand, even in English. I wish I had learned more sign language when I first started losing my hearing as I only know the basics.
i speak english and portuguese, but i exclusively use english w my parents even though my dad doesn't really speak it lol
i did like 3 years of french in school but then i moved and forgot most of it. i'm not actively learning any languages atm but i'm kinda subconsciously learning korean via kdramas/kpop/etc though lol
i'm starting uni soon though so i'll be picking up french again and spanish for the first time which is super exciting!
