Do you speak another language?

I speak both English and Spanish. I'm currently learning ASL (American Sign Language) and I'd eventually want to learn LSM (Lengua de Señas Mexicana aka Mexican Sign Language). I also want to learn some Japanese, at least enough to get me through a trip there.

I speak English, Mandarin (native), and also Hokkien Chinese (also native).

Picking up Japanese is hard, but I hope to someday, just out of interest (and yes, for proper anime-viewing).

My mother tongue is Korean, but I am losing the ability to speak formally in Korean (like when to use 는 or 은 particles). I speak quite a few languages, like Portuguese (I was raised in Portugal). I can also speak Thai as I went to Chaing Mai University. I can speak more, but I starting to forget some, like Japanese. I don’t use Japanese, so I forget the rules/pronouncing etc. I’m learning Mandarin to speak to my Chinese speaking friends (@Lightspring) 你好

Just curious. For me, I don't speak another language but I'm currently learning Japanese. Also, if English isn't your first language, what was was? Sorry if a thread like this has been made already.
I'm currently learning Dutch. I learned French in highschool but I don't remember any of it, as it was quite a few years ago, 11 or so. I've always liked the Dutch language though, it's soft and interesting to listen to for me.

I live in Japan and do translation work among other things in a Japanese office!

I'm kind of starting to learn Korean (it's the easiest to learn for Japanese speakers because of how similar they are).

technically arabic is my first langauge but like.. i learned english soon after/at the same time. and at this point my english has surpassed arabic obviously

i can translate a good amount of latin and conjugate some things/know sentence structure, but for the most part just translation. i did this mainly for medicine

took 4 yrs of spanish in high school (like an actual school where you learn), way too rusty for speakers but i recognize a lot if im reading

also learned french from my parents growing up but i never used it so i don’t remember anything. but it’s ok french is so mainstream and im a hipster

ive done 3 years of japanese for my minor so far

that’s all
i think kids who grow up on several languages learn them so easily in the future, every time im in a language course i feel like i just absorb all the vocabulary and it feels rlly natural

My first language is Brazilian Portuguese (which is obviously very similar to Portuguese but some words may have different meanings, even though most of portuguese speakers can understand each other perfectly, be it from Brazil, Portugal, Angola...), and as it's very similar to Galego/Galician, I can also communicate with people who speak it (even though I only knew one person who spoke Galego).

I can understand Spanish, but I would probably have some problems writing in Spanish, as I didn't study the language, learning by similarity with portuguese and by watching and listening spanish football matches and reading about it in spanish newspapers.

I can understand some Italian and French, but barely, just enough to have an idea of what's been said, even though with French I'm even more limited to reading than listening.

Oh, and I can communicate in english too, as I was self-taught due to necessity (most of my hobbies involve mainly the english language, like videogames, magic the gathering or tabletop rpgs), but I don't think I would say I'm fluent, as I haven't developed the most important part of it (or any language), which is actual spoken conversations. I can understand it perfectly by listening, I just don't have habit of speaking in english.

the same is with me & japanese... i'm fully english...

i can speak japanese fine sometimes & i think i know the basics... i just don't speak it all the time...
& i can't read japanese writing or write it on my own....... it's just so hard to do that....

i mean, i wrote a couple japanese letters once... but that's only cause i had help translating from english 🥴

i have a couple of japan-type books... translation books & a guide book of sorts that my mum got me :>

i was self-taught with it too, starting from the time i found the anime 'mermaid melody' & the japanese girl group ''morning musume'' on youtube :3

My first language is English, but my family is really jumbled and mixed so at home we speak a mixture of Japanese, Indonesian, Tagalog (or Filipino!), and French! ^___^ But if I’m being honest, I’m really only really good at speaking English lol

I can speak Japanese although I don’t normally get a chance to, I’m pretty rusty now. I’m interested in learning another language though, just not sure which!

I have about a year's worth of Mandarin under my belt now, and although I've learned more than I ever thought I would, I'm still have an incredibly long way's to go if I want to become fluent, even just conversationally. It's incredibly fun to learn.

My second language is Mandarin and my level is conversational. Like as others have stated there are differing levels for different components of language. I can read quite well and seem to have a natural ability for memorising characters, although I haven’t learnt many new ones for a while as I have been outside of China for sometime - also with being out of China my learning of all parts of the language has stunted. I’m planning on finding a tutor (or reconnecting with my old one in China) when I’m back in England and my situation in regards to free time is better.

Nope! Just English, I'm boring. I do know some French from school but nothing enough to really have a conversation. Just the basic stuff like "hi how are you" or "may I please go to the washroom" lol. I do remember a lot of French food words for some reason.

Not really but i studied german for the whole duration of secondary school and remember bits and pieces if i dig into my mind deep enough. A few years ago someone sent me a link to a german animal crossing forum because they thought i was german maybe that wouldv been good practice lol. I am interested in picking it back up though

my native language is spanish though im fluent in english! i also spean french but not as well as english lol oh and in school they taught us a bit of latin. i learned a bit of japanese but had to stop taking lessons because i couldnt afford them anymore... but im very interested in taking them again as soon as i can since i love anime and jpop lol

I’m most fluent in English, but since I live in the Philippines, I also know Tagalog. I’m also of Chinese descent and speak Fookien at home though I don’t know how to read or write it. I studied a bit of Mandarin until High school so also know a bit of it. I also took German in college and self studied Japanese a bit.
