I'm just a ghost.
If you have been playing this game since the day it first came out (March 20, 2020) then this is probably going to shock you. If you didn't, then prepare to be shocked by what you have missed out:
Ah thanks for the info! I was worried that some of the stuff on my highest level could disappear, but now it looks like I don't have to worry about that; after all, I don't have a fourth level!Yes!
Oh, I definitely heard about the islands containing hybrid flowers being taken out a few weeks after New Horizons came out. It was such an odd decision.
Yeah interest is a joke now. They also nerfed the spawn of certain fish and bugs to the point where you never saw them. And the hybrid islands were one of the reasons I actually used the Nook islands. I have no incentive to go there now.Nintendo did numerous odd things with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A good amount of it was not good. One move that was foolish was reducing the maximum monthly interest in bells from 99,999 to 9,999. There was no good to doing that. Some people, in the early period following the game’s relief, had complaints and, in reality, much of them were frivolous. And Nintendo listened to them.

I have a feeling that some of the things wouldn't be removed (or at least very soon) if people weren't constantly datamining ACNH. My memory is a little vague here, but Nintendo usually reacted to those discoveries made by the players and quickly removed them afterward. It's really silly that Nintendo decided to cut content out of the game when the game itself is already lacking in content as it is.

They also clearly had the roost planned for launch or close to it. Otherwise why would they have had coffee and Brewster/Roost dialogue and then immediately cut it out. Has anyone seen the exact same dialogue come back now that Brewster is back? If not that is more cut content.
Which often makes me wonder if hide and seek was considered at one point with how Peppy villagers comment that they played H&S by themselves. Did they forget to cut that out?
And lets not forget the game costed $60 when it first came out. That still doesn't excuse them for holding back content and then adding in months later. They seem to be doing that pretty often with their other games. But even so it almost took them 2 years to bring back the Roost. That's kind of a long time to be holding that place-holder in place and not doing anything about it. I get it. The pandemic. But I feel like we give Nintendo a free pass on that while we tear apart other lesser known studios a new one for doing the same stuff.
But not to the extent of NH at least. Most of the other games aren't geared towards progressiveness like Animal Crossing is. So it's not as jarring to not have some Mario Golf/Mario Soccer casts being withheld compared to what was withheld with a progress-influenced game like NH/AC.And lets not forget the game costed $60 when it first came out. Ugh, tell me about it; the game wasn't out for even half as long as, say, Smash Bros. Ultimate; they could have at least kept ACNH alive for, like, two thirds or three fourths the length that Smash Bros. was.Yeah interest is a joke now. Never really considered that. That's a really good perspective. I know Smash up until 2020 was the bigger franchise, but they made bank with the pandemic for NH and should've honestly took advantage of that instead of sleeping on it.Ugh, tell me about it; the game wasn't out for even half as long as, say, Smash Bros.
