I honestly bought a switch just a few months ago with only one game, to purposefully wait for this game...
Should I have waited and gotten the AC themed switch? y e s ( : ..but Owhale

So! My roommates and I don’t have a TV and I can’t really fit one in my room... so in anticipation for New Horizons, I bought a projector on amazon :) It’s working great so far, watching the direct and vids on it is getting me stoked to play the game and blow it up on my projector at night!

What are you guys doing to prep?

I guess I try to do as much work as I can before the game releases. I have to plan some lessons for my students and also have some courses at university. So yes a lot to do and I try my best to complete as much as I can :)

Funny you say that, because it’s also the exact same thing I’m doing!
I have midterms next week, and I’m in the middle of creating a unit plan for my second graders (student teacher) that I will be teaching the week after the game releases...
Sooo I have to be smart about becoming too involved in the game too soon (‘:

We got this!!

I'm basing my island on John Wick (yep, a challenge), so I've watched the movies over and over to get some ideas, and I've been brainstorming. :)

The only thing I did so far to prepare is clear my SD card for videos/pictures and make another private twitter specifically for photo uploads I don't want crowding my main twitter (which is also technically a photo dump as well but whatever). I will be playing the game in handheld although I may consider getting a small desktop or TV sometime in the future if I'm really itching to play it on a bigger screen. Other than that, I've also thought of a couple names I might use but I haven't decided which one. I'm so indecisive that it's come to a point where I might just put my options in a hat and pick randomly on the day.

I’m trying to set up an Animal Crossing journal but keep seeing others I like 100x better and have recently realized the Target bonus won’t have a lot of dedicated blank pages. :c Also hoping to find a few friends to chill with so we can have a little launch party. <3

I’ll only start planning my island when I have the game and can experiment with all the features.

not really prep, just how i'm filling the void while i wait for new horizons. i'm consuming as much info on new horizons as possible. watching the direct over and over and all the videos that come out.

I'm trying to get my house as clean as possible. That has always been a small weakness for my family. We have been getting better at it since I think my husband finally hit his threshold with the mess too.

i was trying to complete pokemon sword and shield both, but right now i'm not really in the gaming mood for anything but stardew valley. i think i'll just relax until it's released then go feral playing it.

Just making sure I don’t die from the pandemic before I can play for atleast an hour

I’m doing all my assigned readings, studying, and assignments ahead of time (college/uni) so that I have tons more time to focus on the game.

I bought a new SD card for my switch to give it a chunk of space in preparation for New Horizons! Other than that I?m mainly trying to decide on a villager name and an island name while I wait.

Not a whole lot, mostly just sketching out my island's 'final look' to get some ideas of how I want it to end up. Also thinking of what my 'ideal' starting island would look like as well.

Other than that... kinda just taking it day by day.

i'm just mentally taking note of what i've been seeing and what i want to do. i'm going for a very foresty, cottagecore vibe for my town.
i'm also very curious to see how long i can go without time travel, and how long it will take for the forum to catch back onto things like the tbt/igb exchange rate, trading items and villagers, and for people to know how certain things are unlocked (take, for example, how you unlocked the cafe by donating a certain amount of items to the museum), that people probably won't know until a certain amount of time has passed.

-This is my first AC game, so I have been reading a little bit about the game so I can have a good start (like fruit, island map/name, grass ect). There is still a ton I don't know which is perfectly fine with me. I probably won't follow any more news on the game.
-Been deciding on how and what to use for a journal because the idea sounds like fun. Thinking about using a binder and graph paper so I can move things around or add to it. Plus I don't know much about the games, so don't even know what kinds of lists to do anyway. I can use page protectors that way when I am done with a page. Been looking at other's creations online for ideas. And I can add amiibo cards in the back if (probably when) I get them.
-I have a couple of games on my switch I am trying to finish up before AC comes out. I may not get the game at release because life stuff... but I plan on getting it as soon as I can.

Been prepping a journal. I thought of a character and island name finally. I got a screen protector for the Switch. Now I just need the game and the Switch itself, which I plan to buy on release day.

- i’ve started jotting down what i want for my island, ranging from its name to character houses to landscape ideas
- i’ve started collecting qr codes that i like
- i’ve started setting up my digital journal
- i’ll be purchasing my switch later today
- i will make sure that all my chores and responsibilities are taken care of before march 20th so that i can play freely

John Wick, you say? I had no idea  That sounds so awesome!

I think I just might if we?re being totally honest

Girl, same.. but we are gonna crush it, just gotta focus and get it now so that we can cruise when the game is out

Me too, I want to do things on my own in real time for as long as I can, because unlocking everything and working hard for this game will be even more motivating than when we first got NL, in my opinion...
BUT I am stoked for the guides and tips to come out on here and bidoofcrossing :)

These are things I?ve yet to do, besides choosing a name and knowing my character customization.
Have fun with your new switch! I loved mine a lot more than I thought I would, and I?ve only played botw and mario kart (?:
