Sorry I didn’t know how to phrase the term right LOL but basically I’m curious to know what you guys think about villagers who are paired or in sets or themes!
Examples would be Chrissy + Francine, Nan + Chevre, the robots (Cephalobot, Ribbot, Del, Sprocket), and the superheroes/rangers (Kid Cat, Agent S, Big Top, Rocket). There could be more though depending on your definition of a pair or group!
(I randomly thought about it yesterday after adopting Francine into my island. Personally I love Francine a whole lot as an individual and don’t have plans of adopting Chrissy, but I understand a lot of the charm is mainly from having both sisters since they are very cute together.)
Anyway, how about you? Do you like having all of them together? Or do you like one villager more than their pair/groupmates?
I haven’t really thought about it. I guess they’re cool in the sense that you can make up your own stories about them in your head. I was never a fan of the super hero villagers, but Big Top is cool. I don’t like Agent S. I think she has a weird name, personally, and I’m not a fan of the squirrels. I find Chèvre and Nan the most interesting!
My favorite pair is Knox & Sterling cus I used to follow an artist who drew SOOOOO much cute art of them together. I have too many starter villagers that I ended up getting attached to, so I gave up on having the knights because I can't possibly fit in both of them. For me, it feels bad not having them both. I did get to pair them together as roommates in HHP so I'm satisfied (kinda?) I really hope they raise the max amount of villagers you can have in the next game though. It's hard fitting in the 'set' villagers when you can only have 10. Like, imagine moving in the superhero set (4 villagers) and then being left with only 6 spots. I couldn't handle that, I love too many villagers!! ;w;
I had all the superhero villagers together at once at one time, it's cuter seeing them all together in my opinion
I'm going to invite the bunny sisters and the goat friends together at some point the matching villagers are cool!
I like the idea of them a lot, makes them stand out from the rest of the villagers. Francine was my first snooty on my island and always thought it would be cool to get Chrissy when I had her.
I'd like more brother/sister villagers, think it's just a cool idea and weird the only 'confirmed' ones we have are Francine and Chrissy in the game as far as villagers go I believe.
I think it’s so cute ! It creates a slight lore which i find nice (especially like Nan having Chevre’s picture in her house implying a connection between the two uwu). And they don’t necessarily NEED to be together, but it’s a nice option for how one wants to play the game.
I think matched villagers are cute, but I also think they’re adorable standalone as well! All of the matched villagers have their own personalities and are adorable by themselves, so that makes it a lot easier if you do only want one out of the group or pair!
My favourite matched villagers would have to be Francine and Chrissy. I often forget about Nan and Chèvre being a pair too. I think it’s cute when people have one theme for their island though (like all super heroes, all robots, or even all of one species)!
I think I'd be more in love with the concept if they interacted differently or behaved differently mechanically from the others. As is, they only exist as a pair conceptually, but otherwise this has no bearing on gameplay.
I thought it was cute that Francine came with a poster/photo of Chrissy when designing a vacation home for her in HHP, though.
The only pair I've ever had on any game (if they count, since they're a different species) are Sterling and Knox, although I've had Chrissy and Nan move in via other islands before. I tend to add a lot of lore behind characters on my island, so it doesn't bother me only having one at a time. I think they're a fun concept overall.
If I had a second island, I would absolutely have all of the robot villagers together though! I was kinda sad there weren't enough to make an island of 10.
I like them enough, but I agree that it's a shame there's no unique dialogue or interactions, especially between the duos like Francine and Chrissy and Nan and Chevre. I don't mind separating them, really, since they have a picture of each other and I can come up with some lore reason one of them moved away.
I always end up making my own pairings, like I currently have Tiffany and Bella as a pairing since they're both vaguely goth and have similar color patterns.
I love the concept of them and I think they're really cute. but I wouldn't really invite any of them to my island, they're just not really my taste? Still I love the idea
To be honest, I thought of romance when I read the title.
In all seriousness, this is something I toyed around in my mind with some of my villagers in other games. Most notably NL. Francine and Chrissy might be the only sibling villagers in the series (that aren't Special NPCS, by the way), but I could be wrong. As @Belle T, suggested, this could be incorporated through gameplay — perhaps via dialogue, because Lord knows that Animal Crossing could use some consistent dialogue for a change.
i think that it's adorable conceptually, but it's such a shame that none of them actually acknowledge the connection (;′⌒`) i've never had any pairing on my island before, but from what i've heard (and from the other replies on this thread) it's all rather surface level ?? it'd be super cute for chrissy & francine to have conversation dialogue reminiscing over their shared childhood or something along those lines !!
It's a cute idea. It helps in villager suggestions if you have a specific theme going on. I actually wish there were more.
Aside from pairs or groups, I would love the idea of villagers having a bit of history. For example, Kyle, Jacques, Zell and Eugene were all bandmates but later disbanded. Or Sterling once served under Elvis. Or Lucky and Ankha were neighbors long ago, etc. And you'd only discover these if you're best friends with them.
I like the villagers separate. I currently have Nan, but I don’t personally like Chèvre. She’s cute, but she doesn’t really match my island style. Same with the robots. I think Ribbot and Cephalobot are cool, but I don’t really like the others. It’s nice that they have a group and the option of getting their counterparts, but it’s also nice that we have the option of just having one.
I really like the idea and would like to see more but I really wish they did more with those villagers than just "looking like a set". Like people already mentioned I would love for them to have unique dialogue when they were living in the same town for example. If they bring back Tom Nook and Sable's backstory events from the older games I hope they could add these to flesh out the other special characters and they could even go so far to give these set villagers their own connections. However unlike the special characters I would prefer that they keep the set villagers stories as vague as possible to give room to headcanons. When I say vague it doesn't mean it can't have a story. What I mean is give them a open story that gives room for creativity and theories.
I really like the hero villagers and I have Agent S on my town. I like how all heroes are each a different species of animals and I would love for them to add one hero per animal species and I think that is what they will do in time. Each one also has a different personality too.
Kid Cat is a jock cat, his number is 1.
Agent S is a peppy squirrel, her number is 2
Big Top is a lazy elephant, his number is 3
Rocket is a sisterly gorilla, her number is 4
Personality wise a cranky, smug, normal and peppy hero are missing. For species there is a lot missing so I wonder if they are going to stick with personalities for the hero set and be done with it but I would love for each species of animals to get one hero but I want them to take their time.
personally I always choose individual villagers based on my personal preference about their looks/personality etc, but I think it's super cute to have the similar villagers that you can group together! definitely gives a lot of potential if you're interested in having a lot of lore/backstory surrounding your island and the different villager relationships. if i was any more creative i'm sure i'd have found a way to include them by now!
