How do you feel about voice chatting?

I don't think I'd mind it so much if my voice wasn't naturally raspy, but that's more a personal problem. Also, people tend to perceive me as a male online and are genuinely confused when they hear a female's voice on the other end. Still, both are irrelevant because I'm non-binary.

I'm not too self-conscious of my voice, but my gender always seems to come up when I use voice chatting functions.

Does voice chatting make you uncomfortable, and for what reasons?

I'm not a fan. I sound like a child, and also struggle with the gender issue (genderfluid), people hear the name Carter and assume masculine, then hear my voice and question if they're talking to the right person
I've legitimately had important calls where the person I was speaking with went "And you're how old?" 😓
So I get how you feel

I don't mind it as much if it's with friends, but when it's people I'm not close to, I'd really rather not.

I hate the way my voice sounds and I've been having problems with my throat for over a year which has make my voice constantly croaky. I hate voice chatting at the best of times, but the way my throat is at the moment makes it even worse.

I'm weirdly more at ease putting on headphones and talking with strangers.

Because if it's somebody I already know or have been chatting with, I feel more self conscious and have the need to make a better impression.

I am kind of shy with strangers and super introvert. I get used to it after some time and it is fun to play videogames together for example! I really enjoy it actually but it always takes some time and a lot of anxiety to get there.

i don't mind it. would be fine with using voice chat but i don't use it since i don't play multiplayer games that need it anymore

I don't know with strangers I don't feel comfortable as I can be shy sometimes

I don't know what to vote on the poll, because while I do prefer to send messages (due to auditory processing disorder, sometimes voice chats are difficult for me), I love voice chatting with people! I think it's cool to be able to hear their voice and actually hear them talk. maybe it's because my ADHD mind struggles a bit with object permanence and forgets that there's a real person behind a keyboard, so it feels more special and personal to talk in a voice chat. I wish I could voice chat with more of my friends honestly.

No, I don't use it nor will I ever use it.

I really don't like voice chat. I cannot get myself to talk, even if nobody else is home (I didn't even like talking to a Nintendog). I also don't really like listening to voice chats either because you never know if it's going to get loud and I am kinda sensitive to loud noises.
I just prefer talking over text.

I don’t like it. I don’t like my voice irl so I try to avoid voice chatting as much as possible.

I don't think i will ever want to do voice chat with strangers, I'm way too shy for that 😖 If it's just with someone I know though I don't mind it as much

I used to like them a lot, but now I don't unless it's online friends I've interacted with for a while. I tend to get really quiet when I'm on VC with people I don't know well from social anxiety and I end up not really contributing much. In fact I haven't voice chatted with anyone in several months.

i don’t ever voice chat if it’s with strangers just because i’m not comfortable with doing that. the only time i have ever voice chat is with my friend occasionally but that’s it.

Absolutely not! I still think it’s weird that Twitter has voice chat lol.

I like it but I definitely gotta be in the right mood for it. Sometimes someone will try to voice chat with me or just call me straight out of the blue and my social meter will be on E.

I love being in voice chats with friends but speaking with them is difficult because I speak English awfully so I have a bad accent, pronounce words wrongs, and my intonation is as natural as an AI bot from 2015's. So I mostly just listen to them and type in the chat :v

i get nervous to sometimes, but that also depends on who it is and if i feel like it. i'm more likely to do it if it's with friends than randoms, since i'm already comfortable and don't have to make small talk for the sake of not seeming boring to the other person. other than that, i find myself wanting to communicate more through texts than vc (unless my friend asks and idm doing it).
