How Many people have NOT Flattened/Reset their islands and/or have no intention of doing so?

Who here is keeping their OG island and doesn't plan on resetting it whatsoever?

I'm keeping my island because I've never really felt the need to reset. I form attachments too quickly and also the only criteria on which I'd wanna reset is not getting peaches, which I've been lucky enough to get on the first try in my gamecube, New Leaf, and New Horizons towns.

When things are flat I have no idea where to start. I like to pick an area at a time and build in it/around it and see how things connect. I can't conceptualize an entire island from top to bottom.

Also just got really lucky in general. Resident Services is right in line with the airport entrance, the airport is the color I wanted, the flowers were roses and lilies which were my favorites, and my beach areas are big on the left and right but cozy at the top. Even as more info came out about the game and the different things one could shoot for I kept finding that I loved my island even more.

I finally have Judy now too-and Pashmina from one friend's town, and Sylvana from another friend's town and I love them so dearly (and don't have their amiibos) and wouldn't trade them for anything!

I never have reset any of my towns in previous games, and I plan to do the same with my island.

I still have my AF town, PG town, WW town, CF town, and NL town. I still check in on all of them as well when I have the time.

I remember I almost did it when I was younger during the AF/PG days, and when it basically laid out that hey, everyone and everything you know and love about this town will be erased and you can't get it back, it persuaded me to not do so. I'd rather just change them to my own liking.

Wait. . .

I Get that AF means Animal Forest; but what does PG mean in regards to Animal Crossing?

I'm on the never resetting side.
I would have, but only while still in the tutorial stage, just so I could get cherries as my fruit. But it's okay because I can still plant as many cherry trees as my heart desires. Now I'd never consider it, even if I make a botched up mess terraforming. I love my villagers and I just have so many nice memories, captured through in-game screenshots. If I reset, I would just feel sad and even disconnected from the game because I'd see my past AC life and have no way to continue that save file.

I'm never resetting my island because of my villagers. While it would be a lot of work to give someone all my items to hold, I could do that, so that's not much of an issue. All my villagers are definitely the issue; I know these days any non-series 5 villager are pretty cheap to get but I've bonded with them ;w;

I've done a ton of work on my island and moving things around but have never fully flattened it! I would be open to it though, definitely before resetting!

I'm definitely not planning on resetting my island—it's enough of a struggle for me to collect all the items and DIYs I want, and I certainly wouldn't want to lose all that progress. The thought of having to redo and unlock everything over again is... whew. I also don't feel like anything on my island is really "unworkable", or at least, not worth the trouble of resetting to change it. I wouldn't have gone for a yellow airport if I'd known about Reese and Cyrus coming to the game eventually, and probably would've gone for a green or blue one instead, but it's not important enough to me that I'd restart over it. And even if I get annoyed with my river mouths or Resident Services placement at some point for whatever reason, I'm sure I could work something out with it sooner or later. Also, I'm just plain too attached to a lot of things to want to reset, ahaha.

I wouldn't say that I'm entirely opposed to flattening my island, though. I'm not planning on it and it'd probably be a last resort kind of thing for me, but even though there's a lot of work involved in it, it seems a lot less extreme than a full reset. If at some point I do decide that I don't like anything and need a blank slate though, I might go for it. I don't think that's terribly likely, but who knows.

I restarted my first island a few months after release and don't regret it at all. I had no inspiration, hated my town layout and name, and just wanted a fresh start.

As it stands now with my current island, I have no reason to reset but if I feel like flattening I will. Sometimes you like a change of pace or sometimes you just get inspired to do something completely different!

creating a new character and starting from nothing, even on your same island, is annoying enough. starting completely over would be awful and even if there's some things i don't like about my layout at times, i'd much rather keep working on this one than start all over, lose my villagers, lose all my bells and nook miles and items... just don't see the point.

For me, when I say AF, I mean Animal Forest, the N64 game. When I say PG, I mean Population Growing for the GameCube.
I've never heard of "Population Growing" I Thought the Gamecube game was just called "Animal Crossing" and referred to by fans as Animal Crossing(GCN)

I've only done light terraforming. First, was to make corrections to earlier terraforming. Second, was to move the pond near the airport one tile left. Third, was to build a direct path from Redd's beach to the rest of the island. Fourth was in cases where I wanted to build a bridge somewhere and the land didn't line up. I would say that my island is at least 90% original. I have no plans to flatten the island or reset.

I've reset my island like 6 times since launch. Sometimes I wonder why I even bothering playing.

Do I have regrets? Sure I do sometimes, but I don't let myself dwell on it too much because what's done is done. I don't mind recollecting things like DIYs. I don't get all sentimental over items, villagers or maps so losing them in a restart doesn't bother me nearly as much as it would other people, because again to me it's honestly just a video game. Nothing more nothing less.

The thing I could do without with restarting is the long drawn out tutorial mode.

I will hand it to the people who stuck to their island since March 2020. That's great that you guys are able to stick it out this long. As for me I'm the kind of person who has to restart otherwise I grow bored, since there really wasn't much to do after unlocking terraforming except to terraform and that grew old quickly for me. However I honestly believe since there is a lot do now since the last update, I don't think I will ever be restarting my island again.

i reset once, and it turned out to be a decision i'm still lukewarm about, despite how much i love the introductory sections of new horizons. so i don't think i would ever do it again, i'd miss what i had too much. as for flattening, half my new island is still flat and empty because i'm at a loss for what to do with it. i am going to flatten around 1/8th of the end i've done any work on for a project, though...

i havent done either one and have no plans to do either one. no reason other than the fact that ive bought all the recipes and quite a few items *and had friends give me a bunch of items too* so no reset.
for the flattening the island first, im just not very good at building waterfalls and cliffs yet soooo....im making small changes to it so i dont mess the island up completely lol!

Reset a few times on release day. Chose a decent map to begin with, but really wanted apples instead of cherries. The map I’ve had since is pretty much ideal apart from Resident Services being so close to the airport. All things considered, I made an entrance I’m happy with.

For the most part, I’ve kept everything they way it naturally was since day one. Maybe some touch ups here and there through terraforming, but that’s it. Waterscaping is pretty intimidating for me, so I’ve barely touched my rivers.

So, yeah, as you can probably tell, definitely am not going to reset and don’t have any plans to. When you take DIY and cooking recipes into consideration, not to mention villager/islander hunting, New Horizons is definitely a more time consuming game in that sense and I would really hate to lose all of the hours I’ve sunk into the game so far if I was to reset. Overall, I’m connected to my island, flaws and all.

Okay what I am going to say is going to sound complicated, but hear me out. The only reason I restarted my 2nd island yet again was because I was getting so fed up of "Spiral" looking so empty. All the layouts were not properly designed and I realized I had too many flower beds and pumpkin gardens that was taking up so much space. So to fix this problem. What I had to do is to get one of my residents moved into Spiral, because they have most of the diys learned, and the designer app on their nook phone. Then I had to drop all of the items and bells from the Resident Rep on Spiral and give it to the user I moved from my main island. Lastly I had to move them back to my main island just so I can delete the island.

Once the island was deleted, I had to move the user yet again this time to new island and when I did that what happened was they became the Resident Rep and so much just happened. I went their tutorial Tom Nook gave me my fully upgraded home, My nookphone still all the apps (including the island designer), all the diys were still there, and my storage was there. So this felt really great now that I could terraform right off the bat and I didn't have to worry about grinding stuff again. This is only done if you have a 2nd switch and a 2nd copy of the game to do this. Its pretty much worth it and its a long and tedious thing to do thats for sure.

Never reset nor have I flattened an island/town. Going to echo most people regarding the same sentiments with memories and hard-work since launch. I recently experienced the heart-wrenching feeling of losing my main island when I tried to downland 2.0! I went to bed that night not knowing if my island would be gone. The toughest pill that I thought I had to swallow was the fact after a 14 month break, I just completed my critterpedia and I was so elated that I would not have to go diving for a long time!

Luckily, island was restored with everything in tote. However, that feeling of losing my island made me realize how much I love it-no matter how many flaws and imperfections it may have... It's my starter island, it's home! And I never want to let it go!
