How Many people have NOT Flattened/Reset their islands and/or have no intention of doing so?

Who here is keeping their OG island and doesn't plan on resetting it whatsoever?

I have my island since release day. I only flattened it once, when I was still in the process of finding out how I wanted my island to look like.

I've put almost 700 hours into it. I know some people played the game for double that amount, flattening their islands or not. But honestly, I feel like I have a connection to this island, it's villagers. You know, especially taking into account all that happened just when the game was released, and how this island became a virtual refuge from all the madness called Covid-19. I really don't want to lose this island. It means a lot to me.

The friends who came in to visit, like @solace and @Mairen (and many others really, the Christmas event organized by @meo, everything, I mean, everything that's happened on this island is kind of a box of memories from a very distinct period of time, and that's why, to me, my NH island a lot more than just a "customizable map".

I'm not resetting or flattening it. I can't.

not resetting or flattening bc i think that would be really overwhelming and i might regret losing my old island. it would be nice to start a second one but definitely not going to buy another switch for it

It's tempting sometimes. I think my biggest complaints are my peninsula and the island name. Everything else seems like it can be solved and the peninsula isn't that big of a deal really. I go between loving and hating my island name... sometimes I wish I had picked something cuter.

But besides that, I've spent so much time trading, cataloguing, and on achievements that I really don't ever want to go back to square one. If we could keep everything we've accomplished and just reroll the terrain and choose a new island name, maybe. Maybe if/when I get a second island it'll be easier to do.

Nope. I rolled with the punches and made what I have work the first time around, so I'm keeping it. I also have some villagers that I'd rather not lose. I also lucked out and got a very large peninsula, so I plopped my house there and it works perfectly!

the only thing that bothers me about my island is it’s name. i entered it in all lowercase because it looked like there was two L’s in the beginning (Ilomilo) when it’s supposed to be an i (ilomilo) it’s just a minor bother. the main reason why im not resetting is because getting to the point where im at would take too long on a new island and i have accomplished so much catalog wise.

Even though my island is a mess, I'm attached to a lot of things I have and I couldn't possibly reset. I just need time (and bells) to finish cleaning up my island. By the way, I never got around to terraforming, so it's still mostly default.

Resetting feels worse in NH than previous AC games, IMO. Not only do you lose your catalog, but you lose all of your DIYs. The DIYs feel worse to lose than your catalog because of how hard it can be to collect them. Also, because you can customize and change most things, it doesn't feel like you need to reset as much. It's just smaller details that you can't change, compared to things being much more major in the previous games.

I don't blame anyone for resetting if they feel the desire to do so, but it's not for me at all.

I think this comes down to what you wanted from a reset.

If you went into it wanting to jump back into the game as you left off, just with a different location for things, then this could easily be a big deal as you can't get back up to speed as quickly.

But if you restarted for a fresh start, seeing what new DIYs you get each day feels great.
It brings back a sense of your character and island progressing over time again.

I haven't. In fact, I haven't even installed the update yet.

I don't really have time to play the game right now and when I do I won't be starting over. There's no way I will put the same amount of time and effort into rebuilding as I did the first time.

I've never reset an Animal Crossing game and don't plan on doing it anytime soon!

I never actually finished decorating my island and was midway trying to put it all together Ywell beginning hahaA so I'm going to continue on that path. I think a lot of my ideas mill change but some parts mill be the same as I had originally intended so I'm not considering it to be completely flattening/redoing my island. But, the nem furniture has given me a lot of nem ideas!

Sorry my laptop is doing the things mhere certain keys are flipped lol

I’ve had the very first island map I chose. My native fruit is oranges, my airport color is blue, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. These things were very important for me, but I honestly didn’t reset for them. I managed to get both of these on the very first map I chose by pure luck. The only thing that bothered me were my two south river mouths. I found them difficult to work with. That didn’t make me want to reset my whole island though. I have all of my dream villagers. I just got very lucky with my first island. I haven’t flattened or reset, and the very thought had never crossed my mind.

i had my first island since release day and only about two weeks ago i reset. to be fair though, i never got my island to a point where i was happy with it or really worked on it. infact i was nowhere even close to that and became incredibly burnt out and bored of it. i also really hated where resident services was, and wasn’t happy with my rep or island name anymore and you can’t change that stuff so… yeah. i don’t regret it whatsoever. starting over has really made me fall in love with the game again and i actually love the tutorial part of the game. i would definitely consider restarting again in the future now that i know it’s not as hard as it’s made out to be.

i've had my island since day once. i wouldn't waste time flattening it. in fact, i've barely even terraformed it. a waterfall feature + some cliff/river adjustments, and that's all i've done. it's basically identical to the way it was when i first landed in that respect. i'd never reset either. why would i? that would essentially negate all the time and effort i spent building up my current one. no way would i just wipe away all that work only to do it again. i've never understood the appeal in that. i've never reset my NL town either -- i just bought a second copy of the game and even considered a third. i'd do the same with NH if towns were linked to the cartridge (as they should've been) and not the console. so, yeah, i'd never reset. i'd be devastated if i lost my town. i don't think i could even pick up the game again to start afresh.

I wouldn't restart my island. 😊🏝 I've thought about flattening it before, but ultimately I've decided that the experience of building it up, to what it is now, from the first day gives it some character.

I always leave extra space on my islands because I don't like having a lot of stuff cluttering things up.I've visited a lot of "stuff" islands in the Dream Suite and they make me feel claustrophobic.Besides,I consider an AC island or town to be on ongoing piece of work that's malleable and open to change.

I have no plans to reset my islands. I haven’t even gotten all the original DIY’s. The thought of having to get those again plus all the new ones no thank you. It’s one of the reasons I got a second island. I figured I would just reset that one if I wanted to play from the beginning again. Now I can’t imagine resetting that one. As far as flattening my islands that seems overwhelming. It’s easier for me to just work on one area at a time. Right now I’m working on an area for Wade and Cube’s houses.

I have put in 450 hours into this game I have reset it periodically since I got it back in March 2020. I find it hard to get back into my old island of I have taken an extended break. Plus I like trying out different lay outs and themes and characters. I don't mind building up my stores and sometimes a new old item or DIY will spark my intrest when it comes to decorating

I'm keeping mine! Firstly because it was never done to begin with and there are so many spots that need to be filled in. Secondly, restarting is just way too much work for me.

I don't plan on resetting but I kind of am flattening my island. Basically I never really got to finish my island in the first place so I just need to switch all my villager houses to the other side of my island which is pretty empty at the moment anyway
