I’m generally fine with 9-5. It gives me enough time to unwind at the end of the day, and I (usually) don’t have to wake up too early. For as much of a night person as I am, I prefer having an earlier start to have more free time afterwards.

I like the whole 9 to 5 shifts. Since when I first started working at my job I worked anywhere from mid to late afternoon till almost midnight and I didn't mind it at first, but after a while, I hated it and felt like I never had enough time to do anything for myself. Now moving from 8 am to 4 pm I feel much better, and that I can actually enjoy things for myself.

I've worked pretty much every shift possible at my job I currently have-- 6a-2p, 3p-11p, 10a-8p, and 8p-7a, and I definitely prefer the early morning shift or even the 10 am shift, if only because that means I work four days a week and get an extra day off. I'm really not a fan of working overnights just because of the detriment to sleep and mood (I'm working evening shift this week and I feel like a completely different person lmao), but I will admit there are some positives to it! I like there being much fewer people there while I'm working, so it kind of feels like I am my own boss.

9-5 probably (which is what i do now), in theory i'd love overnights because of my sleep schedule but whenever i stay up during the night i feel depressed, it might be different though if i'm doing something productive. setting my own hours would be fun too but i lack discipline so it probably wouldn't work

I like shifts that start 10am at the earliest and end between 3pm to 5pm. I enjoy having the evenings off now after years of serving shifts that look more like 9am to 11pm. You will never catch me doing split shifts/full day shifts ever again.

I currently work full time 5 days a week from 8am to 5pm (with an hour for lunch) but I wish it was 9-5 instead! That extra hour I get to sleep in really makes a difference lol.

In my mind, I like the early morning shifts like 5AM-12PM/1PM, but I think realistically my body prefers the 9AM-5PM shift. I hate closing/nights even though thats the shift I primarily have at my job 🙃

I'm a lucky person that doesn't work, so I'm answering the question for my best friend.
He is working in shifts, so it's always changing. He said he's prefering the early ones, because
this way he has the whole day left! Nightshift is the worst, as you're awake the night and
sleep most of the day to regain energy.

I prefer early and have the rest of the day off. Most things socially happen in the evening so I prefer being free then. I also don't mind getting up early, after years of having to get up at 3 to 5am, my body is fine with early morning alarms 😂

well, i’ve worked a range of times before but i quite like evenings from like 12 or 1-7 or 8pm. they’re so much cozier and usually more laid back.

When I was working I loved the really early morning shifts and overnight shifts. Early morning because of two reasons. 1st is anxiety. I prefer to sleep right before I work and then wake up and start getting ready and head out the door. I don't like the waiting aspect because I feel like I can't do anything until then. I don't like sleeping in the middle of the day just so I can "recreate" this system for myself. 2nd is that the whole shift is out of the way for the day. So I actually have time to myself. Opening is also way better than closing.
Overnight shifts I like because overnight is usually more chill at any work place and if your job deals with the public, you don't have much interaction if at all at night. Then if you have something you need to do during the day, you can. And travel to and from work is pretty chill as well. And you usually get paid a little more for overnight and more than likely you don't have to deal with closing and opening procedures.
Since early morning shifts are almost impossible for me to ever get anywhere I have ever worked, I usually insist on an overnight shift.

i work at a cinema part-time alongside uni, and much prefer an open shift (usually around 9am/10am) or a late evening shift. that way i feel like i can do something with my day or evening and my whole day isn't consumed by working like it would be in a middle of the day shift. even then, i feel like i spend the entire day anticipating my evening shifts and wind up doing nothing, or sometimes i'm so tired after my open shifts that i just want to go home after my shifts. though when the weather is nice i like to take advantage of it, so will sit outside for the afternoon and read before my evening shifts, or go out for drinks with friends after my open/afternoon shifts

As a designer I prefer setting my own hours, as I love working 1pm-8/9/10pm at home, but in my day job I work 7/8am-2/3pm which is a great shift to have for me. I work in the mornings, take an hour to nap in the sun, then begin working freelance for the rest of the night. Steady cash flow ! That said, first option.

For the most part, I can set my own hours as long as it overlaps with the regular working day and I attend anything I need to attend. My preferred working hours are 6 am - 2 pm-ish, and I'd rather come in an hour early (e.g. 5 am), than leave an hour late! Most of the time I leave by 3.30 pm.

I find that I'm most productive between 5 am and 2 pm, and after 2 pm I hit a bit of a slump, and if it's too late, I might start making mistakes! I think I've just fallen into this rhythm. 😊😴

I work in screenwriting. My job is largely from home, though occasionally I am on set (not since covid though) as and when I am needed I guess. I have deadlines, but no set hours. This suits me perfectly as I am a chronic insomniac and very anxious at night due to some past trauma. Before this job I preferred night shifts, probably due to my night troubles. I am probably at my most productive and creative during the night, probably due to my issues, but hey ho, it works out now.

My current job is a regular office job so we don't have different shifts. It's always 8am - 4:30pm. I am next to useless in the mornings so I'm not a big fan of this schedule. My most productive time is typically in the evening to late at night.

My old job had 12 hour day and night shifts. 7:30am - 7:30pm and vice versa. I loathed the day shifts. I'd be falling asleep standing up on the production floor in the middle of the day. Meanwhile the night shift 7:30pm - 7:30am I'd be raring to go. I was never tired on the night shift even though just about all my coworkers were constantly taking naps throughout the night. Watching the sun come up at my final break in the morning was always my favourite part.

Honestly though 12 hour shifts are hell and I even find 8 hour work days just a tad too long. I think a 6 hour hour shift would be just right. maybe from 8pm - 2am something like that. Likely doesn't exist anywhere though haha.

I had a job few months ago working at parties at a nightclub, worked different shifts and tbh night shifts where the best especially after finishing, the city just being so quite and desolate was so relaxing and nice

Around 9 - 5 timing. Getting up early sucks and always will suck, but getting home after dark sucks more for me.

I fail to believe that 12 hour shifts for anyone are fully productive. That's just way too long.
I agree about 8 hours. I usually stop focusing at around 3, which thank god I can go home at 4:30. If only 6 hour shifts were more of a norm.

I used to work at an Amazon Warehouse where my hours were 6:30 PM to 5:00 AM for four days a week. It was honestly not a bad job, but I can see how those hours could be stressful. I think that job only lasted about four months before I was terminated, but it was one of the better paying jobs I’ve had. I do prefer the later shifts, but ideally for me, only seven or eight hour work days.

During both of the jobs I’ve had I preferred mid-morning to late afternoon. My productivity is simply at its highest in the morning. Shifts that started in afternoon were often struggles since that’s when my blood sugar typically drops around then. As much as I love the night, I couldn’t do night shifts. Staying up all night makes me depressed and I don’t want to adjust my sleep schedule too much.
