the question is-
is this maf!shawo pushing a town!tessa like d1 town!trent was pushed.

or is this maf!shawo bussing maf!tessa.. i don't like it and i think i need to go back and iso their posts. but idk where i land on this but this really throws a wrench in a lot of my initial reads.

I’m inclinded to believe it’s a set up to try to off another townie. Shawo wasn’t really sussed enough yesterday, I thought, for them to think that det would investigate them.

is there a reason you decided to out yourself with a claim rather than building a case on shawo first and if that didnt gain enough traction before EOD then claim?

There's several reasons.

1. Your timezone in particular. You said you have to vote 12 hours ahead of time on weekdays. EoD chaos with one locked vote that might be really bad is not good if I wait to claim.

2. Shawo is a snake and more skilled than I am. This one is really self-explanatory. I'm playing det for the first time, I am not very smart. If I had to blitz a fight with Shawo last minute then I'm just not winning that one, especially when he still has a partner in the game to also cause chaos. I also have a suspicion that Shawo already knows he's been checked since he didn't manage to snipe the role so he's had time to prepare.

3. I'm not confident I would've lived in to d3 regardless. There's been way too much talk about the detective in this game and I suspect the PoE for the wolves is really narrow right now. Maybe there's a world where Shawo would've gotten naturally yeeted but the risk of that not happening and me dying n2 was just... not great.

4. Similarly to the above point, I'm also just not confident in my abilities, period. If I say something dumb and end up becoming a wagon then crying cop last minute isn't guaranteed to save towns vote.

did you ultimately decide to inv him because of his push onto trent d1? or was it a "this player is skilled" time to look into them feel?

Well guys. Sorry to kill the mystery but I have a feeling this has to happen now and not later. I see too many wincons for maf and maybe that's just my tiny pea brain sucking at the game but I've made peace with going down as the worst cop in history of mafia.

I am Cop. Shawo has been checked and is mafia. We are voting Shawo out today.

Mostly skill. I had to keep it simple and think about who I wanted to be maf the least.

I don’t think it’s random anymore. I won’t rule out the possibility that shawo coached them and instructed random to start placing suspicion on them now to create distance, but I don’t see it as the most likely possibility.

That leaves you and betsy. I’m leaning slightly towards betsy still for no reason other than gut instinct.

It feels like a minor thing, but it still bothers me that unless I misread the thread, shawo was the first to throw out suspicions (and went right for an easy target). Then shawo and betsy interact, and betsy throws out a handful of additional targets- inactive people (also easy and easy to defend later).

I think I’ve seen some people sus you (tae); i haven’t personally seen anything that makes me feel like it would be you (tae) over betsy. I’ll have to go back again and reread.

Unless someone else wants to enlighten me/did an ISO/whatever

i do think that for the sake of game balance that maf would be split between experienced mafia and not experienced mafia players. that might just be me weirdly overthinking it though? id like to believe that rng is a factor yes but game balance is taken into consideration.

Betsy- Putting on my meta hat because I can't stop myself from doing this. Betsy has been notably un-aggressive for how she usually is. I expected way more pot stirring in the first 24 hours than what ended up happening...The problem with this whole thing is Betsy has almost always been cursed to wolf in past games so I'm suspecting she might be town here. It'd kinda make sense for her to just not aggress in the name of not getting the boot d1 as town. Early on I also noted Betsy took a moment to reinforce the merits of no-vote to Sidney who is new. Just a minor interaction that felt more town-y.

Shawo- Kinda touched on Shawo earlier but yeah, he's been the one to do the most poking and rattling peoples brains. The 24 hour drought was also ended by him. I'm not seeing chaotic-force-of-nature Shawo this game which feels indicative of making an effort to solve given the cast we have in this game. Agreeing with a lot of his posts in general.

Tae- Kind of feels like Shawo: Lite and I'm not sure if that's because of the matching icons tricking my brain or not. I'm getting mild town from the fact they seem to dumpster out thoughts when prompted (and sometimes without even being prompted) so like... either really good at making stuff up on the spot or genuinely just not afraid of what comes out of their mouth. The same cannot really be said for everyone this game I feel. That sorta crashing around recklessly like an elephant is p rare for mafia.

Trent- I genuinely still don't get the early plays from Trent tbh. Hating d1 is one thing but what was with the early insistence on putting us on route to a d1 sequel for d2. Like if you hate d1 just.... why do that? I already pointed out the one post I specifically didn't like early and I'm too lazy to go dig it up again. Going in to the last 12 hours I am seeing more questions from Trent at least but it just doesn't feel natural when you compare the zzzz start. I'd also like some takes on who he's planning on voting?


Starlit- I'm still a bit confused about the very last post they left, however I will note that I did see the point raised that they might've voted no vote due to knowing they won't be at EoD and I actually kinda get that. When I signed up for this game and there was a possibility of 4-6AM EoD I remember agonizing over how the heck I was going to vote. I do kinda wish if this was the case they'd actually said it themselves... Looking at Starlits other activity I will note there wasn't really much prying done in to anything either, which is kind of a weird thing to do if you already showed up late with limited time. If you're town on that position wouldn't you want to make the most of the time you do have...?

Tessa, Sidney and Random will be in the next post since those people posted while I was ISOing this batch of people and I want to give them my full attention.

Tessa- Pretty much giving me normal town Tessa? Wolf Tessa I know as someone who will bounce on to the first suspect they can and then camp there regardless of what else is going on in the thread. I'm seeing more interest in gathering information than latching on to something with the intensity of an alligator.

Random- Not much has changed tbh. Looking in to the new post doesn't give much at all and I'm still at that 50/50 could go either ways spot. Kinda getting the energy of someone who just doesn't like reading, which isn't exactly a new thing on tbt mafia. I'd also like to point out a lot of people are assuming Random will get subbed out for their current behavior, however it's worth keeping in mind if this is a mafia strat they might not get subbed?

Sidney- This feels like something far too spicy for a new wolf to say ngl. Setting yourself up to catch the bad end of the stick if you wagon is not a look I'd ever expect. When you're a new wolf it's far easier to just sheep and firmly squeeze yourself in to the pocket of whoever is the loudest and most widely tr'd.

do you still hold these reads in present time? or has your whole list changed since the investigation.
