The Nintendo Channel is a marketing tool for Nintendo to see what you play, how much, and when. Don't you guys see? They collect information about you to better advertise to you. Common marketing trick, Amazon's been doing it for ages.

I like the DS demos, though.
You make it sound like a bad thing. They request games that they think we'll like based on the games we've played... that's good
Umm... it is a bad thing. I don't want them collecting ANY information about me.
Um... that's why it's optional o.0
Hah, you don't get it, though. They don't let you download DS demos if you don't agree to divulge your information/playing habits.
...what's wrong with that? I don't care if Nintendo knows that some guy in Kansas never plays his Wii.
Wait, you don't see what's wrong with harvesting consumer information?

I just see it as an invasion of privacy. I'd LIKE to be able to download DS demos, and I'm going to do it for a while, but I don't plan on keeping this channel. Nintendo's gotten too... invasive for their own good.

Yeah, the channel is optional. But hey, so is buying a Wii in the first place!
so if you don't like what they're doing why even use the channel. Its your choice to use it or not. Everyone here knows, and just about know one cares. I am actually thrilled. I might actually get another game from Nintendo that I like.
You got that wrong, buddy. Plenty of people are paranoid in this sense. I don't want Nintendo using me as their 'guinea pig'... seeing all the games I play, when, how long... it's an invasion of privacy.

It's all a marketing ploy. Like I said, the only good thing about the channel are the demos. The videos and info are all nice too, but the information harvesting is pretty disgusting.
Did anyone post in this topic, other then you, saying that they cared?
Why are you such an *CEN-1.01-SORD* lately?

Anyways, I really don't see what's so great about this channel. DS Demos seems... interesting... unless there's a demo for 358/2, I'm not getting it.
Lately? I see no change in myself. The way I see it, people don't change. The only people that do change are people that try to avoid a bigger change.

WTH? So you're saying all the people that could potentially care are TBT members?

Your logic astounds me.

Look up at the quotes and look at what you bolded. Carefully read the entire sentence, not just what you bolded.

No, no, there's a total change in you. You're a complete jerk in this thread, the AI thread, and the GTA:IV thread too. Stop trying to prove yourself right in situations where there is no right answer.

They collect your freaking PLAYING HABITS and advertise based on those habits. It's not about "i played smash bros zomg!1!1", it's about going too far for the sake of marketing. They can see WHEN you played a game, how often you play it, etc... and then they advertise to you based on that.

Like I said, a common marketing technique... but it's a ploy nevertheless.

Don't talk so condescendingly to me, I'm not an idiot.

You told me "just about no one cares"... yes, on TBT. Since when did TBT members represent the majority of gamers?

OOOOoooh, Scary! They know WHEN I play Smash Bros, that changes EVERYTHING. Only evil, privacy-invading companies would ever want to SELL stuff.

OK... If you feel fine with companies knowing what you're doing and then tailoring freaking ADVERTISEMENTS based on that, more power to you.

It is fine with me.
I WANT to know what games I might enjoy.

When doing that on the internet, it's an invasion of privacy.
But for gaming...the whole point of gaming is to play games. What's wrong with being shown more games I'll like?

Wait a second... you just said it's an invasion of privacy on the internet. What makes it so different with this?

I'm sure you wouldn't want Nintendo to know what websites you're surfing, when, and how often. Or hell, not necessarily Nintendo; any other company.

The same principle applies to Wii playing habits.

I wasn't going to get Crosswords, but I might buy it now since I loved the demo.
Way to do exactly what they wanted you to!

I the GTA 4 thread.. I was sort of a jerk, but he argued with my opinion so I defended it. whats wrong with trying to prove your point? I was not even close to being a jerk at all in the American Idol thread. I said they picked the worst judges, whats wrong with that?
